Thistle Hotel Aberdeen Airport

Room was large in size but needed to be refurbished. a cupboard fixed to the wall covered a hole in the wall where i assume an ironing board was attached. mattress had a bow in it and it was uncomfortable for my wife and i to get any sleep especially as we had a very early flight the next morning. Food was average, nothing special. This hotel needs to be renovated and reconditioned in order to make the best of its perfect location to the airport.

Disaster from time checked in til time checked out. Hotel staff dont seem to care about their jon and it looks like its an effort to do anything. The twice I have stayed here functions were going on so that may explain the bad experience although hotels should have more staff working if a function is at the hotel so other guests do not suffer, bar was heaving with only one perosn serving, empty glassess everywhere (and still empty glassed at breakfast time), food was cold and had to wait for over an hour as the staff said the wedding came... more

Just back from a weekend stay at the Aberdeen Airport Thistle. First stay in this hotel and stayed due to it being a sponsor of a competition I was taking part in - all competitors there. On arrival at the hotel we checked in and were told that our room was up the stairs and along the corridor, would we like any help with our bags? No thanks, we will be fine. This could have possibly been a one off as my partner stayed here on his own recently and said It wasnt as bad as the first time although not great. From the moment we checked in till the moment we checked out there was one thing after the other that went wrong. Reception stamped our key ticket that we paid cash and could not put things on our room (we used credit card) and was so rude when pointed it out. I stayed here on business and was not very impressed as most hotels my Company books are far superior to the Thistle. Reception was average but there was no lift to the 2nd floor and the corridors are so long I thought my arms were going to drop off carrying heavy bags - no assistance was offered on check-in. My room was a good size with a comfortable bed but was too hot with no way of controlling the temperature except opening the window! My first introduction into the Thistle Airport hotel was last month for two weeks. I had to come back this month for an additional week. My first stay was in a standard room. The second was in an executive room. The decor in the hotel is country charming, but the services are severely lacking. The rooms are not as clean as they should be (lots of dust and cob webs, dead bugs in window corners), there are 4 or 5 channels on the television, and no internet access was available from the room. I recently stayed in the Airport Thistle Hotel in Aberdeen and use the hotel quite a lot as i am in Aberdeen frequently on buisness. On arrival i was greated with the usual welcoming smile although the desk was very busy. On Check in i was informed of the new bar lunch and dinner menus that had started in the bar and also the introduction of the Restaurants new menu so i was interested to try one of them out. I have stayed at the Hotel many times over the past 5 years, however more recently I have been staying at the Marriott Hotel due to bad experiences in the Thistle at the past. On this occassion the room rate at the Marriott was significantly more (£100 vs. £60) and therefore I decided to revisit the Thistle to see if it had improved. In short it had not! My husband and I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times - more out of convenience than desire. We made our booking through their secure website a couple of days before going but when we got there the hotel did not have a note of our reservation.
