Business visit
Business stopover, 2nd visit this year. Rooms okay but glad double room was only for single occupancy. Overall good pleasant service with excellent breakfast. Leisure club a bonus albeit looking a little tired with sauna not very warm. Hotel has pleasant & quite setting with a little bit of love & care should remain a favourite.
Previous reviews were right
Visited on business for a couple of days. The surroundings are beautiful and the hotal does look impressive as you drive down the long access road. The receptionist who checked us in was pleasant and friendly and I was reasonably impressed by the decor in the communal parts of the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the fittings were nothing special. I have to agree with previous reviewers that the breakfast was very poor (possibly the worst 'continental' selection I've seen at a hotel) but I found the waitresses friendly and... more
Not value for money, very poor service, low-quallity breakfast
We stayed for two nights in a "de luxe" double room costing £150 per night including breakfast. The room was pleasant and clean, but certainly nothing special. No fridge or bathrobes. The pool was fine, if a bit small. The main problem was with service - there wasn't any! Morning papers were left in reception, instead of being delivered. We had to queue to be allocated a breakfast table, and then waited for at least 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Toast was a major problem, apparently - we had to ask two or three times... more
I wish we'd gone to fawlty towers instead...
This hotel is amazing, but not in a good way. Perhaps we are over fussy, but here are some of the examples of the service and standards that we found during our two night stay: The whole hotel was generally a bit shabby. A very badly stained towel which was left on the bathroom floor to be changed was simply folded and put back on the shelf, and in general the bathroom was not very clean. We had to ask for saucers to put our cups and spoons on at breakfast one morning. The standard of food was dreadful. There is obviously a very... more
Good hotel going down hill
We've stayed here a few times for business and leisure and they started off having excellent service but boy has it gone downhill. We even had to speak to the manager about how rude the breakfast staff were. They need to hire more people in my opinion to deal with the morning breakfast rush and give the staff an opportunity to do their jobs without having to be rude to the guests. The food is OK, nothing special and personally I think this place is overpriced. The rooms are small, and noisy if you have the windows open. The... more
Disappointing...
We stayed at the Lamphey Court for two nights as we were attending a local wedding. Wished we had stayed at the Cleddau Bridge hotel - it looked as though it would be much cleaner! Can't comment on the spa facilities, as we didn't use them. Positives: The grounds and views are absolutely stunning, it must be said, and if you are looking for a country retreat, this certainly has potential. The menu for the restaurant looked good, but we didn't try it. Negatives: Overpriced - the standard of the rooms and the... more
Typical Best Western standards - excellent. Menu could be better
Stayed for one week in June. Good weather just added to the comfortable surroundings & facilities. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a quiet retreat with good service. The leisure facilities and variety of treatments on offer were first class. Areas they let themselves down on were: The Conservatory - ugh!! the furniture reminded us of a fish & chip shop. However, the restaurant, lounge and bar were very comfortable and relaxing. Piped music in the Lounge and Conservatory became distracting and... more
Highly recommend
We have stayed at this hotel twice. Once in a family suite which had seperate bedroom for the children and once in a double, both rooms were large with generous bathrooms. The food at the hotel is superb and the staff very friendly and helpful. Wonderful leisure facilities with excellent beauty treatments and alternative therapies on offer. I can personally recommend the aromatherapy massage. Try and book a Best Western Getaway break which includes dinner as prices in the restaurant are expensive
Lamphey Observations
I stay here regularly on business. The grand exterior of the hotel and grounds are unfortunately not reflected inside the hotel to the same standards. The rooms are always disappointly small and sometimes damp. The health suite offers good selection of treatments with seperate saunas for men and women so could be annoying on a weekend break ! Pool / jacuzzi usually o.k but can be abit cold sometimes. No room service after 11pm. Putting those annoyances aside the food is always excellent - book restaurant in advance... more
