Make sure you ask for a room upstairs.
We visit Bangor quite often and had stayed here about five years ago but found that the whole building smelled of cigarette smoke. Following the smoking ban, we decided to try this lodge again. There was no smell of smoke and the place appeared cleaner although a little shabby and worn in places. On arrival we were offered room 15 with the words,"There has a been a small problem with the ceiling due to someone leaving water running." When we opened the door, the smell nearly knocked us back out of the room. We returned to reception and... more
Good rooms but shocking cutomer service
Booked online and paid £56 for a family room. Large, clean and quiet room that overlooked a field. Had everything that we needed. Beds were very comfy. The Travelodge is next to a Burger King, Little Chef and petrol station. Checking in was terrible though. We had no special requests or complaints and yet the receptionist was the most sour, unhelpful and rudest woman you could meet! She snapped when we asked if she knew when the adjacent Burger King closed, barked a long spiel about customers nearly getting in fights when they had... more
Bangor Travelodge
This Travelodge has recently been extended so some of the rooms are some distance from the entrance. The reception is also alongside the cafe, it would be better if they could move reception to somewhere more central. Rooms fine though. I used the Travelodge advance booking to get good cheap rates
Not impressed
Very bad customer service. Staff at reception were very unhelpful. We had telephoned beforehand to arrange a cot in the room, but it wasn't there. When we asked where it was they said they would find us one and we could come and collect it from reception! The room was a long walk from the entrance and up a flight of stairs. The room was very warm so we asked reception for a fan. They said they didn't have any and that we were the first people to ever ask for one! The room wasn't great. Needs cleaning better and a lick of... more
lovely weekend break
stayed here from 9th feb till the 12th feb.THe travelodge was in easy reach of snowdonia and anglesey, and there was lots to do all around. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very helpful. We ate in the little chef on our arrival and we had no complaints there. We had a good relaxing break and i would stay here again. As said on a previous review the tesco at junction 10 of A55 is great for lunchtime snacks.
Fantastic Value
We, 2 adults and 6 year old, stayed for a week to enable us to do some Hillwalking in Snowdonia. Lovely staff, very clean room, safe car park, within easy access of ferries and main roads, and very cheap. What more could we ask for? New carpets were being laid in the hotel while we were there, but this did not cause any problem whatsoever. All work was carried out during the day, and was cleaned up completely. Would recommend heartily as a no frills place to sleep.
it's a travelodge
Clean, warm, soulless same as most travelodges. Big Tesco next junction up if you are more in the market for a pre packed sandwich than the Burger King / Little Chef - what happened to the romance of travel !!!!
Dull and souless
Easy location to find but a really dull and souless room. As with all Travelodges only 1 towel is supplied and you can "ask" for a hairdryer/iron on a first come first serve basis. We stayed only 1 night to give us access to Caernarfon Castel and Portmierion. We drove into Bangor to find a place to eat - what a dump. It was really dirty. The streets looked as if they hadn't been swept in weeks and there seemed to be an awful lot of Charity Shops in the High Street. We reluctantly ate at the Little Chef on site. I ordered an omelette -... more
Bargain hotel close to national park
We found hotel staff friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. Of course it was basic, but it had everything we needed. We booked a few weeks ahead and managed to get a Supersaver rate of 10 pounds per night for two of us. Cheaper than camping!! We enjoyed our weekend so much that we've booked two more weekend breaks there this year.
Look elsewhere
Pro: Reasonable price for UK, but... Cons: Grossly overpriced by American standards. U.S. chains like Country Inns, Comfort suites, etc. are ten times nicer for half the price. Ground floor room with window that didn't fully close and didn't lock; Welsh hoodlums knocking on window as they ran past on the outdoor sidewalk in the night (room entered via interior hallway, so why is there a sidewalk right next to the window???); No shampoo, hairdryer, or clock in our rooms. No mattress pads or fitted sheets on beds; room doors do not have... more
