It's not that bad!

My friend and I were needing to attend a friends wedding taking place in Lindos and decided that we would stay here as we couldn't get in at the wedding hotel.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning, but the receptionist was very attentive but it was quite a hike uphill to the room, but very clean and spacious.
We had a twin room that actually had 3 beds in it, satelite tv (mainly german) and a nice little balcony.
On awaking the next morning and looking out of the window, I knew we had made a good choice, the view was stunning, looking over one of the 10 pools, breakfast was well fine, coffee, bread, cheese, ham, everything you would expect on a european holiday and lots of it.
I have to say there were lots of stray cats around but thats quite normal.
The food was very repetative but if you like meat and greek salad you won't starve.
Lunch at the beach restaurant was a BBQ every day and really nice.
It is what it is and you get what you pay for, this was not an expensive holiday and we had a great time and met some really nice english people although the majority of the guests seemed to be german/eastern european.
Nearby Lardos had really nice restaurants as does Lindos and it is very beautiful.

Sunny Villa, sunny holiday

My family and I stayed at Sunny Villa on the Pine Hills Complex in Turunc last August. It was the first time that we had booked independently and we felt a bit nervous about what to expect. From the moment that Debbie replied to our email enquiry we felt much more confident that we were doing the right thing. She was really helpful (and even arranged for our transfer from Dalaman Airport straight to the front door of the villa). She answered our many questions with the experience and knowledge of someone who has lived in the village for many years.
The villa is beautifully appointed and was furnished well - with much more thatn we had expected from a holiday let. The views from the balconies across the bay were breathtaking. The pool was right next door and we could keep an eye on the children from the balconies, but there was plenty of space for us all to sunbathe next to the pool as well.
It was only a short walk to the village centre where there were plenty of restaurants and bars, all serving great food. Our own favourites were Musti Restaurant, where Fevzi became a special favourite of our youngest, Phoebe and we also loved Yunus Cafe. This was tucked away around a corner at the far end of the street and is run by a local family. They sell wonderful Turkish pancakes and we fell in love with the chicken ones, whereas the children loved the banana and honey and the chocolate versions (no surprise there!).
We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and learnt from talking with many fellow holidaymakers that lots of them return year after year and we can see why! We will be back again later this summer and will be going back to Sunny Villa once again. Great value holiday in a lovely villa and a beautiful location.

first impressions in the reception...
3 / 10
Sep 2008, Mr A Broadhead

first impressions in the reception were quite good we got a warm welcome and a useless map of the site.
we also got a useless porter to help us with the luggage that got lost 3 times not what you want in 30 deg when we finally found the rooms not bungalows that we imagined we had paid for they were very basic 2 beds a bathroom and nowhere to sit down except outside.
the complex is not in a good state part of it where the largest pool is was very neglected the filia restaurant was closed and had been for sometime.
we were all inclusive and the food was quite good that was because the complex was full of germans, polish, and italians etc we were the only brits on the whole complex.
the late night snacks mainly consisted of dry bread not very appetising. the laundry service no longer exists even though it says they have one.
i didnt have any input on the booking of this holiday because originally it was for a wedding if i had we would not have stayed here after the holiday im sure no one in our party would stay here again.

The write up on the Lindos Sunny...
1 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss L Scott

The write up on the Lindos Sunny Village was great, just what we needed, the reality was so different. The Lindos Sunny Village complex does not exist, it is now part of the Montemar Beach Resort (google Montemar Bech Resort for more reviews, unfortunately for us found upon our return). We booked a bungalow in the gardens only to get an apartment up the hill on the main road above Dimitra's restaurant, the local Avis office and Sotos Supermarket. We were not even on the hotel complex. It was 10 minutes walk to any of the pools, by the way there are only 4 not 5 and only 2 have childrens pools, the Beach and the Ilios pools, and 10 minutes to the beach.
We booked all inclusive and ended up having to eat out as it was a major rugby scrum just to get something to eat. If you weren't at the restaurant doors at opening time forget trying to get a seat at a laid table. There were flies all over the cold food in the buffet area and it was hard to tell what any of the hot food was. Coupled with the fact that we were the only British family in the place, the rest of the guests were rude, inconsiderate, and dirty animals, it was preferable to eat The Gallery Bar across the road.
The two girls on reception did the best they could, but their English wasn't brilliant and when we complained that we were in an apartment and not the bungalow we booked, they could not understand why we weren't happy, the resort manager wasn't much better. When our air conditioning broke down it took 3 days for them to do anything about it and then as I kicked up such a stink they moved us for our last night but told us we had to be out by 10.00 the next morning. We were experiencing temperatures of 42deg and with 2 small children this was totally unacceptable and they finally allowed us to stay in the new room until our transfer at 20.00 the next evening, the irony of this is that we got moved into a beautful bungalow, in manicured gardens with a sea view, just what we had ordered.
My recommendation, dont touch it with a barge pole!!!

We travelled to this thing called 4*...
1 / 10
May 2008, Mrs Ness M

We travelled to this thing called 4* accomodation to attend our friend wedding, our entire party stayed in the town centre, we thought as this was one of the only 4* all inclusive at the time we decided this would be perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. HOW WRONG WERE WE! I cannot believe we spent £2500 for 7 nights stay.
Upon arrival at 11pm, the night concierge/staff at reception stank of alcohol and was smoking at reception, we were placed in an apartment off the main resort, which had names on the side not relating to montemar, we had to walk everyday 5-10 minutes to reach the main beach/ restaurants/ pools.
Mainly eastern european, not that it mattered but they really made us feel like outcasts!
The baby pool was a health hazard, broken tiles covered with crates, never cleaned, yesterdays rubbish was still in there the following morning.
Restaurants were a free for all, by the second day my husband, children and I went out of town and met our friends to eat, frankly it was either act like a savage as soon as the food is served or wait for scraps at the last minute.
The best was the staff! asked for a water for my child, the barmaid served me a vodka, I said no water, she said yes VODKA, at this stage I started pointing at my 2 year old child which she just frownd at me, I gave up and asked for a vodka and one lemonade!!
The manager was so horrible, prior to the wedding we needed to rid some creases from our shirts etc.. ready for the wedding, kindly asked the manager whether they had an ironing service (this is 4*) his answer 'NO' so I kindly asked 'do you have an iron on the facilities we may borrow' (again this is supposed to be 4*) again 'NO' at this stage I asked whether anywhere had an IRON or Ironing service again he replied 'NO'... my thoughts on this individual are too rude to describe. We had to hand our items to our friends in the town hotel to carry this out for us! what a joke.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT WASTE IT ON THIS TERRIBLE PLACE.

Totally agree with all the the other...
2 / 10
Oct 2007, A. Harper

Totally agree with all the the other responses. My 2 year old son and I were visiting my mom in Slovakia. My mom was so pleased, she planned this spectacular holiday in Rhodes for us. Knowing I live in Canada and standards my son and I are use to, she made sure she was very clear about what she expected from the hotel. After our long travel, we had to wait for the bus boy to show us our way to our room, about 10 minutes from the reception and as far from the beach as you can imagine. Hotel room was clean, large, quiet, but travelling with a toddler, who needs his naps, the 10 minute walk was just too much. So we approached the manager and after paying 100euro, we moved to another room. Much smaller room. Oh well, at least we were closer to the beach. After rainy day, our balcony and bathroom flooded. The smell... The Food was awful. My son lived on peas and carrots and fish the whole two weeks. The cats were not bothered by us, and if you didn't pay attention, they would almost eat out of your plate. My son stomps his foot to this day when he sees a cat.
We made the best out of our holiday by renting a car and visiting the surrounding areas and eating out.
I would never return to this hotel and I would never recommend it to anybody. Cheers

The previous reviews of this hotel...
9 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs V Gateshill

The previous reviews of this hotel were terrible and my family were apprehensive about our stay. The hotel is split amongst 4/5 sites with some in bungalows, apartments and studios.
You have the use of several pools and can choose the quieter or livelier areas depending on your own personal choice. The entertainment is varied with a children's club and various singers/cabaret. Much of this is performed in four or five languages which my children thought most entertaining!
The food is slightly repetitive but of a good standard and plenty of it! Drinks are available to midnight in the hotel and some bars are self-service other have a bar person.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time as a young family who are happy to while away a quiet evening drinking cocktails, children's cocktails available too, watching the sun set over the sea or joining in with a large rabbit dancing to the Hokey Cokey!
This is not the place for hen parties or young tattooed lads - which may help you to decide whether this is the place for you!

We booked this holiday thinking it...
1 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs S Wingrove

We booked this holiday thinking it was a 4 star. No way.

Accommodation very very poor.
Food poor catered more for German/Polish/Russian guests.
The complex is miss interpreted as being part of the Costa Lindos which is 4 Star (only just).
You can use the pools etc but not the accommodation. We had to walk 1/4 mile to our accommodation which was above disused shops.
You are not in Pefkos you are about 10 minute’s bus ride from the town. No a lot at the resort few shops/Supermarkets and bars.
Staff not friendly.
Kids clubs only for Germans/etc.
Not a good hotel. Would never go back - I would say do not go!!

We travelled to this hell hole with 6...
1 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs T Bruce

We travelled to this hell hole with 6 adults 6 children for an AI 2 week holiday, oh my god where do we start?
To cut the story short, we managed 3 nights in the hotel from hell. If anyone thinking of going to this hotel, do not go, it’s not as advertised, defo not 4* more like 1*.
Food terrible, didn’t even know what toast was for breakfast, it was like a stampede to get chips for children at meal times as there was nothing else for kids to eat.
Room was so small 3 beds pushed together so you could not open wardrobe, and the other bed was in kitchen against cooker and socket with wires hanging out.
The pool was okay but very cold, the staff were ignorant and not helpful at all we complained and complained from air con not working to sea view.
I would be here for days if I had to give all the problems we had, we spent a fortune eating out the 3 nights we stayed there, as we could not eat anything, there was no other English at hotel so catered for Germans mostly, my husband not a fussy eater at all but he even struggled.
We are not stuck up by any means; we are all working class families. All we do expect is clean and comfortable hotel decent food and good value for money.
You do not find any of these at this hotel.

Agree with all other reviews this is...
1 / 10
May 2007, Mr J McCulla

Agree with all other reviews this is no way a 4 star hotel, it was disgusting.
We were stuck in this hell hole for two weeks with four kids. No entertainment, food inedible and no other English people.
After two days we had to eat out otherwise starve.
The rooms were awful, air conditioning leaked all over the beds; the balcony was flooded as the pipes just emptied onto them.
The internet room was a builder’s yard. The pool had broken lights floating in it, the slabs all round were cracked some not even there, it was dangerous and unsafe everywhere.
This was not the holiday in the brochure far from it and we feel it should be condemned.

I and my wife to be and a party of 10...
2 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr N Swan

I and my wife to be and a party of 10 people were booked at this hotel for 2 weeks as a wedding party for our wedding which took place in Lindos the following week. We booked this trip at least 10 months in advance.
Upon arrival first impressions of hotel reception, thought this looks clean and tidy and not a bad choice.....how wrong I was.
After checking in we were told to follow one of there staff to our rooms.
From there we left the reception crossed the road walked down the road then down a track in the middle of a building site on a ten minute hike, bearing in mind there was children and elderly all trying to drag there cases and bags with them.
Finally we arrive at a block of self catering apartments (if you can call them that) in the middle of nowhere.
On entering found that cooker hobs were glowing hot and no way of turning them off, patio doors hanging off on the hinges, toilet seats falling off ect. ect.
So after a bit of a confrontation with the hotel manager we were told that we would be moved to a hotel across the road for 2 nights and then be moved back to the hotel complex.
So after 2 lovely nights in the Lindos princess 5 star hotel we packed up again and were put into tiny apartments opposite the hotel with no room to swing a cat, the family room consisted of 3 beds jammed next to each other and very little else.
On a meeting with our rep that day, it was clear to see that we were not the only people that was having these problems and done the best he could sort it out.
Unfortunately we could not be moved but was offered a £40 refund per person.
By this stage it was a case of making the most of it and get on arranging the wedding which I am glad to say was a perfect day.
I will agree that with other comments about the food being re-used and the fact you were lucky if you heard another English voice while you were there, but we gritted our teeth and made the best of it.

Not at all what is said in the...
3 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs B Smith

Not at all what is said in the brochure. Placed in rooms above shops. Having to cross main road with children, no footpaths. Food less than desirable, and only just warm if you were lucky. Food repeated day in day out for all meals no variety at all. Chicken wings and belly pork the meat served regular, pork steak barbequed twice in a week. We had a 20 minute power cut whilst dining one night, no candles or torches available. The entertainment was not what you would expect for a place this size. It is classed as a 4 star hotel, we have stayed at better 2 star hotels. The only highlife of our stay was the glass bottomed boat trip from the beach that we took.
