I travelled to Lanzarote to get married bringing with me 46 guests. Approx 30 of these guests had made a reservation online direct with the hotel on http://www.farioneshotels.com/ We made the reservations in Nov 09 for a stay in Aug 2010 which was plenty of time in my... more

Chose this hotel due to high praise from brother and sister in law who had holidayed here a couple of years ago, and returned this time with children, 1 and 3 years. Initial appearances were very pleasing, tiled reception, friendly porter, room immaculate, then we stepped... more

We had previosuly read comments regarding the carpet in the hotel and thought that it couldn't be as bad as what people had said. It was in fact worse! The reception area was tiled and looked lovely and clean upon arrival, but as soon as your turned the corner to go to... more

Just got back from a week at the hotel, the weather was excellent, very hot. The hotel is clean, but they need to get rid of the beige carpet in the corridors it lets the hotel down with the many stains on it. The food is very good a great selection and I like the idea... more

Having stayed in the Suite Hotel Fariones on three occasions and am returning in May I have to say that it is one of the best locations that I have stayed in on the island. The food is first class with an extensive selection to suit all tastes. As I have a very fussy... more

Have stayed a total of 5 times in the Fariones Playa and wouldn’t choose another hotel/apartment in Lanzarote. As with most things it’s location, location, location - situated directly on the beach, but away from the busiest areas where there are sun beds for hire.... more

Great Location
Read some of the previous reports and thought oh no what have I booked; I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Fairones was spot on. Yes some of the carpeting in the hotel needs replaced but this is a minor issue. The inside of the Fairones is very funky and grand and it has a lot of plants grown through out it, the hotel is a member of [---], if your Green minded. The room was big enough with a good sized bedroom and plenty of storage place, don't think you could have cooked too many meals on the stove, but with so many fine places close by to eat why would you want to? The TV in english was Sky News, Euro Sport and BBC World, though my son enjoyed the German kids cartoons! The pool area was very clean and was great for kids, this is a very family orientated hotel, so if you don't like kids avoid. There was a kids club everyday and they all made things and had great fun, The hotel restaurant is very good, breakfast is awesome, everything you could think of and the evening meals are top notch also. We ate out at a few places, however one to avoid is the Bodega in the old town, food did not come out on time, my starter came out first and 30 mins later my wife’s appeared, same for main courses, and when we mentioned it to the waiter he attitude was, hey you still got your food! SO AVOID! The Fairones is right on the beach, you just walk from the pool through a gate and your there, the location is brilliant and you are right between the old town and the new town of Puerto Del Carmen so you have the best of both worlds.
Filthy Carpets
First thing to greet us was the absolutely filthy carpeted common areas - a pure disgrace. Comparable to a tenement block - definitely not 4* quality. Room allocated to us was at the very end of a hugely long corridoor, outside which was a common seating area, 2 couches and a coffee table - laden with rubbish and cigarette butts when we checked in at 3pm in the afternoon - absolutely not acceptable when paying €800 per person for a week in the sun in a "top quality" suitehotel! Demanded to be moved - this was done without question. Strange? Balcony covered in pigeon dirt - horrible to have to look at every morning while eating breakfast. Kitchen area very basic - no counter space. Bedrooms - no fresh air - very clammy and clausterphobic. Could not leave patio doors open at night as next door could quite easily step over the balcony. Noisy at night time - doors constantly banging. Love Lanzarote and have previously stayed in far superior 2* apartments -would certainly NOT recommend Suitehotel Fariones Playa. Extremely disappointed. A rip off.
Great First Time Stay Will Definately Return
Stayed in Fariones Playa in September and have to say we will definately return great location, staff very helpful and rooms cleaned everyday! Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Lanzarote after staying here!! Great Hotel
Great hotel. Great location
Just back from two wonderful weeks at Fariones Playa. I read a few reviews before we went and was a bit sceptic. The hotel is though absolutely great, as long as you don't have a room above the restaurant/bar area where it's very noisy. And the hotel definetly needs new carpeting. My God what stains :) And a few new bedsheets would do them good. But the pool area is beautiful. Thick padded madrasses. They clean it 6 days a week before the sun comes up. Direct access from pool area to beach and showers to get rid of sand when coming back from beach. The hotel is very clean. We didn't see one spider or roach in 14 days. Haven't experienced that in other hotels. We did do meet a very friendly and helpfull staff although I would expect them to understand more english. At least the staff in the bar/restaurant. I know some of the staff has been there for years. But all in all. I would surely go back. And I have no problem recommending the hotel.
avoid stay at los fariones hotel instead
stayed here on a family holiday. a nightmare from start to finish, very noicy, couldnt sleep a wink, aircon a joke and only in kitchen area. staff hopeless and rude, corridors filthy, plaster coming off ceiling. if this dump is a 4 star hotel im a monkeys uncle, stay at fariones hotel instead, much quieter and much nicer
Absolutely Brilliant
I stayed in the fariones playa in August this year, i had been a little cautious at the idea of staying there after reading some bad reviews on it. However my holiday there from start to finish was excellent. Our room was very clean, it had airconditioning which could be adjusted to your own liking, and the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The location is excellent, actually on the beach and situated right in the centre betwwen the old town and the new more commercial area. The facilities were excellent and were open most days while we were there. We had a wonderful stay.
Wouldn't send a dog there!
Noisy ,dirty.overated. Like staying in a run down tenement block!
severly overrated
just back... big anti climax...location is excellent, right between the old and new town. biggest gripe is the food... i dont know what most of the previous reviewers are used to but i am no fancy eater and i taught the food(both breakfast and dinner) was at best 2 star quality...not good enough when charging 4 star prices... other complaints, for one, the rude ignorant bar staff, two, the lack of internet facilities(one terminal for the whole place) and three, the price of the drink, at least twice the price of any of the local restaurants... if i was to go again it would have to be at best b + b, but prob s/c...there are some excellent restaurants in the old town and we ended up eating out 5 nights out of the 7 even though we had half board... the pool is good for the kids but you need to be up early to get a lounger, the good ones are gone at 6:30ish... overall, not the place some people make it out to be
Would recommed to others.
We stayed at the Fariones SuiteHotel for one week in July 2006 and we must recommend it. I knew going, from people I spoke to, that this accommodation was one of the better ones in Puerto del Carmen. On arrival, we were really thrilled with what we found. Check-in was fast and the apartment was super-clean and well laid-out. The steps are a bit dodgy, true, but once you get used to them, they are fine. There was a mini kitchen space with sink, fridge, cutlery, cups, glasses and a kettle. The living area was perfect for our needs and had a small table and chairs. We had a super view of the beach. The bedroom was spotless too and had a large wardrobe. There was also a phone in the room. The carpet indeed in the hallways isn't the best but this didn't impact on us. The SuiteHotel has direct access to the beach and one needs only to walk through the pool area and onto the sand ! Issues I had with this suite hotel: The breakfast was a little expensive at 9 euro per person but if you are into big all-you-can-eat breakfasts, then it might be a reasonable price. There is a plethora of foods available, breads, pastries, meat, fish, fruit, english fried breakfasts, cereals etc. There is one computer in the lobby for internet access (you have to pay) and it was continuously being used by children for chattingonling/general surfing and we didn't get a chance to check our email the entire week. The hotel needs to review the usage of the internet. Perhaps a time slot booking system. The sun-beds at the pool. You would need to be up at 7am in the morning to get a sun-bed. It was so annoying to find that the beds were being 'booked' by guests putting their towels on them and some never even turned up the whole day to use them. Apparently its against the rules but I saw nobody enforcing it, To end, I would recommend this hotel and would return to this hotel. Its location is amazing. Right on the beach, between the old town (5 mins walk) and the new town (1 minute's walk). The hotel is clean with a very good maid service and was only 20 minutes from the airport if even that. Restaurants we visited: 1. El Tomate (great food at great prices - Old Town - try the Chateaubriand for two people) 2. New World Chinese Restaurant (Very nice chinese food (except for the veg spring roles) and right beside hotel. 3. Puerto Bahia (we ate outdoors overlooking the restaurant and it was lovely. Come early to get a table. International dishes). 4. El Tomatissimo (beside El Tomate and its a pizza/pasta place). 5. Chiquita - new town - Tex Mex place. Nice food. Bars: Route 66 (new town) - very lively bar. Murphy's Irish Bar - new town - we got done twice by Irish girl working in bar. Somehow we were giving her the correct money each time (we must be very clever to add up the prices!) 'Spot on' was her phrase and we weren't getting our due change at all. And 'Happy Hour' isn't actually a happy hour as we all know it. When you actually calculate prices, they are same price more or less. Wouldn't go back to this bar due to the aforementioned. Brian Boru - good bar. New town.
Watch the steps in the Apartment
Stayed here in February 2006. First night I arrived I slipped on the steps in the apartment and severly tore ligaments in my ankle. Was on crutches for 4 weeks afterwards. Staff were helpful but not really interested. Met 7 other people who had similar but not as severe a fall on the steps. Another girl was on crutches and a small child bumped his head quite badly. A lot of older couples were staying there at the time and of course when they saw me on crutches were enquiring as to what happened. It turned out that nearly all of them had to prop a chair near the steps in the apartment to remind themselves that they were there. They look harmless enough but are quite deceiving and easy to trip on. There is a sign on the wall advising customers to be careful of the steps so obviously they have been causing problems for the hotel. Apart from the fall and the very bad weather found the apartment clean and comfortable and very central. Would recommend Quentins Restaurant - fab food. Another El Tomato. Would probably return to Fariones again but a bit pricey for what you get. You are really paying for location and the fact that they have the name.
