This hotel was ok, but definatly not four star luxury
We stayed in this Hotel, and to be honust I wasn't expecting a lot but I was plesantly suprised. The staff were friendly, we had a few problems with the room and the maid service was discraseful to be frank. On the whole the hotel is fine, it has a very central location and is clean. However the bathrooms could do with re plastering and a re vamp I feel, the water goes everywear when you have a shower. For the prices they charge you are better staying in a Jury's Inn or something along those lines. The Hilton is also very close and had... more
Lovely hotel, great location
We stayed in a twin room for one night for the Speedway GP weekend, and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is about 200 yards from the Millenium Stadium so it was a perfect location for us. The room was moderm & clean, and the beds were very comfortable (lovely duvets). Some noise from the local nightclub, but we expected this & the triple glazing blocked the bulk of it out (we had no trouble getting to sleep). I could understand how people with luggage would have touble with the narrow stairs & the small lifts, and the hotel is a bit... more
Would stay again!
First time in Cardiff, my wife and I went especially to see 2 concerts in St Davids Hall. Hotel staff were friendly, room (deluxe) was big and ultra modern, Breakfast what you would expect, no problems. Cardiff nice spot for a couple of days shopping etc, any longer would be boring. Royal Hotel is very central to Bus/Train, shopping and beside a large Wetherspoons(Converted Theatre). Great value and foodwas great.
Wonderful Weekend!!
Just returned from another wonderful experience of this hotel. I had stayed before on business but had decided to book a junior suite for the weekend. The room was lovely and the view was brilliant, I absolutely love the beds at this hotel they are so comfy and so too are the pillows. The staff are just fantastic with a special mention to Simon the guy from Leeds. We were constantly asking for the iron, wine glasses, drinks etc and reception were cheerful at all times and one girl even went searching the hotel for the ironing board... more
Very nice hotel; if you can get through the door!
Just returned from a one night stay at The Royal Hotel. It's a very nice establishment, fairly contemporary and the staff were friendly. The Deluxe King room was a fair size with room for seating, a desk and a very good looking bathroom. Bottled water in the room is always a nice touch. The bonus of this hotel is that they cater for dogs, with prior notice and at no extra charge. Before I got to the hotel, I did wonder whether we would be put in a "dog-owners" room, but it appeared to be a very nice, clean room with no evidence... more
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS HOTEL
This was an absolutely wonderful hotel!! The staff were kind, thoughtful, and personable. The room was very well appointed, and the bathrooms were like nothing else in Europe!! Spacious bathrooms with a big bathtub!!
Great place, terrible city
My husband and I stayed in Cardiff for one night and while driving to the car park, were dreading what our hotel would look like. The city itself was terribly dirty and glum. However, our hotel was a very pleasant surprise. For the rate of 50 pounds/night, we got more than we expected. A nice clean marble bathroom with a large tub, very comfortable large bed, large lcd television. Breakfast was ok - standard muffins, fruit, cereals. The location is great for walking around the city. You are close to everything and can find anything... more
Very Good - not as bad as everyone says!!
we stayed there over the bank hokliday weekend - it was really nice. We found it really easily - is literally 5 minutes from the train station and is clearly visable. Very smart looking hotel - buzzer entry system worked fabulous - the stairs up to the reception were abit steep - but nothing to complain about. The staff were all really lovely and frienly - always at hand to answer ay thing you have to ask or offer help. We checked in and out with ease and within minutes. The hotel is very well laid out - our room was lovely. It was so... more
We won't be coming back
This hotel has a central location for enjoying this marvellous city and the room we stayed in was clean but I'm afraid that's where the pluses end. Although we are physically fit, the Royal is not suitable for elderly or disabled people. To get to to the elevator to the reception you have to climb several stairs and the lift was out of order one of the days we stayed. Reception staff were indifferent and the reception area had a stale smell. Although we arrived well after lunchtime our daughters' room was not ready and they had to leave... more
A lovely time!!!!
We stayed at this hotel on the 6th & 7th april 07.We came to cardiff to see the championship boxing.(joe calzaghe v peter manfredo). We had a fantastic time. The hotel was really lovely, we stayed in a standard double room, which wasnt very big but was comfortable especially the bed this was pure luxury. The only down side as that we were situated in one of the internal rooms so we had no windows which was a little disapointing but didnt spoil anything, I would definatly stay there again but would request a room with windows. The highlight of the... more
