A bit pricey for what you actually get. We stayed in the Park Suite, right next to the front door and heard everyone coming and going.
The room was well decorated and furnished, but we had no glasses the second night and one bottle of water the first night, but no bottle of water the next!
Breakfast was average and we had double the toast on the second day, as we did on the first.
One of the pillows was filthy so I left it on the bed in the hope they replace.
The prices listed in the entrance don't match up with what we were asked to pay, so overall a confusing stay!

The hotel is a Victorian building about a 10 minute walk from the town and the race course.
Very friendly helpful staff, that cooks a wonderful breakfast.
The rooms at the front of the hotel may be a bit noisy with the traffic early in the morning.
York Minister worth a visit, and don’t miss the undercroft and the Yorvik experience is great for children. Great individual shops in the Rambles. Great tea at Betty’s tea rooms.

The Bishops Hotel in York is a beautiful Victorian Villa within walking distance of the city centre.
The staff are wonderful - service at this hotel is second to none. The breakfast is utterly delicious. The room is spacious, comfortable and well presented, not to mention clean.
Be sure to get a room at the back of the hotel with garden views. York is a wonderful city, and the Bishops Hotel is an ideal base for your visit. Highly recommended!

Apart from the rather small overpriced room, there was mold on the walls as well in the room as in the bathroom. When I complained the mold was wiped away with a brush and the bits landed on my suitcase. When I wrote a letter of complaint I did neither get an answer nor an excuse. Cannot recommend the place at all.
