Auburn Lodge Hotel

Myself and my boyfriend stayed for one night. A Saturday. We arrived at about 8.30pm. The room was lovely and clean, could not fault it at all! Called room service and had roast beef dinner and steak sandwich. Could have been a little hotter, not the best food. Hotel staff were really nice. Check out was for 12pm, so I rang down to reception at 11am and requested to check out at 2pm. That was fine no extra charge. Was very impressed with the Auburn Lodge Hotel, We (My husband and daughter) stayed there on route out of the country for a holiday and again on the way back. The carvery food was excellant and they were so helpful and friendly with our daughter. I am only too happy to reccommend them. The rooms we had were wonderful, plenty of room for the 3 of us. We stayed in this hotel for a week. The beds and bedding were very uncomfortable. The cleaning staff was the worst! They only worked in the morning hours it seemed, so if your room didnt get cleaned then, it wouldnt get cleaned at all. They actually tried to clean the room with us IN IT! When they did clean, Im not quite sure what they did??! The place looked quaint and cozy, especially as it was still decorated for xmas. That is probably the best I can say for it.

I read previous reviews the night before I left for a 3 night break with 5 friends and was quite dismayed by the negative comments. On arrival we requested rooms in the new wing but they were booked up by wedding parties. However, the rooms we were allocated were clean, comfortable and spacious(a double and single bed in each). We had 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners during our stay and found the food to be very good and plentiful. I had a terrible stay here before but decided to give it a second chance because of the new gym. The first thing that greets you in this hotel is the awful stench - it smells like something died in the hotel. For the second time I was given a smoking room when I asked for non smoking. The room was shabby and old with stains on the carpet, cracked tiles. It was a ground floor room with only heavy curtains so anyone could see in during the day.
