Could not ask for more
I have stayed in many hotels within the Leeds Area but Haleys was definately a well kept secret. The staff were really helpful and the service was second to none. The room was an absoulute delight and the food was fantastic. I will be definately staying again well done! keep up the good work.
Shabby Room and Service
Even though we booked the room in January and paid up front (we were going to see Robbie Williams) when we arrived we were greeted by probaly the rudest reception manager EVER. The room wasnt ready and he just shrugged and told us we would have to wait an hour. He was rude and unhelpful from the minute we arrived. Five minutes later he rang our friends room and told us our room was now ready. WHAT A DUMP! not even a full size bed, and you couldnt both walk round the room at one time, as it was so small, the cover on the bed was stained... more
Shabby Tired Hotel (Deduct two stars)
I have just stayed at this hotel for 4 days, being a business traveller and use to a range of hotels. I was in a single room, at the top of the building, during this current eat wave. I asked if they had a desk fan, and the reply was 'wish we had one'. The TV was small and not visible if lying on the bed. The hotel is in a quiet road, and the building is fantastic. Staff are professional and polite. Food (breakfast) is good. I got an internet lateroom rate of £50. The room I was in needs decorating, marks on the walls,... more
shabby rooms
I stayed here on the evening of a wedding (for which it was a great venue) but found the room very disappointing - especially at a 'special wedding rate' of £80 for a single. Felt more like a cheap B&B than a smart hotel - ancient bathroom fittings, floral decor, cheap portable TV etc. Food was lovely, but bar prices very overinflated - £1.50 for a small lime & soda water! Much better value to be had elsewhere.
Lovely hotel - not great value for money
Lovely friendly hotel. The staff are great, very helpful and plenty of them. The lounge areas are very comfy and cosy if a bit quiet. The room was comfortable and clean but a bit small for a 4* hotel. Bathroom great and a fantastic shower. Bar prices are high and the restaurant also very expensive. Overall, a very nice friendly hotel but overpriced. You could get a lot more luxury for the £120 a night in Leeds.
Very disappointing
I booked a night at this hotel as a birthday treat for my husband, so that we could have a nice meal out and not have to worry about driving home. The dinner was excellent, (apart from the coffee - why don't restaurants offer cream with coffee, especially at £2.50 for a small cafettiere), the staff very good and friendly, but the room was a different story. When we first checked in we were disappointed as it seemed very small and rather shabby and we expected more for the price and from a 4* hotel. It got much worse when we went to bed... more
Fading comfort
This is a pleasant guest house with a nice restaurant trying hard to be a "boutique hotel". If they charged less for our "deluxe" room we would have been less bothered by the fraying carpet, unreliable electrics (blew in the middle of the night) and the bathroom doorknob that came away in my wife's hand. The staff were plentiful and pleasant but they do need to pay more attention to maintenance. The restaurant breakfast and evening meal were good - but at £35 a head for the set evening menu it should be! The no smoking... more
well kept secret
I have used Haleys on several occasions and have always been very satisfied though there has been a slight dip under the new manager. Staff are still very helpful though. The location is amazing: it manages to be an oasis of tranquility in the midst of Headingley's throbbing buzzing student community and there are loads of good pubs and restaurants within five minutes walk. Rooms are a little basic though very plush and comfortable. I could imagine some people would miss the minibar, modern communications facilities etc. Two... more
Friendly
Don’t expect the facilities of a large corporate hotel, but Haley’s is a warm friendly little hotel, with an excellent restaurant. Staff are always pleasant and pleased to see you (I’m a regular in the area), rooms are clean and well presented (don’t expect mini bars and plasma T.V’s…they’re not what Haley’s is about). Food is superb, including breakfast. Hotel is close to several lively pubs in Headingley, but is tucked away on a quiet residential street so noise is not an issue. Recommend staying at Haley’s to any... more
