This was my holiday nightmare. The food was cold and disgusting. The lifts stinks. The staff, especially at the restaurant - impolite and unprofessional. They open jacuzzi and gym for several hours a day only. Rooms are very basic. The view was quite disappointing - we... more

Hotel very good value and very clean. The food was excellent and there was plenty of choice. However, I think they should have warning signs placed in hotels and at the railway station to warn holidaymakers of the risk of pickpocketing. The only down side of our holiday... more

Fantastic hotel, very very clean!!!!
Posting on behalf of my parents who are just back. The couldn't fault this hotel. For a 4 star in spain it was excellent. hotel was spotless. Good variety of food at mealtimes ...breakfast had continental and hot food, dinner at night always grilled fresh ...chicken, fish, meat etc . beer and wine in hotel very resonable. Rooms spacious and kept immaculate. swimming pool on the smaller side but still nice and pleasant. one of the best hotels around santa sussana /malgrat area. use public transport to visit all the surrounding areas, rather than be stuck in the one place. transport very cheap, where else can you get a return to barcelona for only 6 euros. overall a great hotel especially for the price. hard to fault it, the view from balcony ain't the best in the world, but aceptable.
A pleasant surprise
We chose the Sirius in a Spanish magazine called Europlayas. We wanted a four star hotel at a reasonable price and that would take children. We stayed for the last ten days in June 2006. The deal was excellent, with first child paying nothing and the second paying half. We got a special deal with full board for the price of half board. It would be hard for two adults and a child to pay 64 euros a day with full pension at a four -star hotel anywhere in Europe, much less Spain. Everything was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was definitely four stars with large, clean, and modern rooms. The food was plentiful and varied, with all the restaurant workers extremely polite and friendly. The maitre was especially very friendly, as well as several persons at the front desk. I appreciated the sauna, turkish bath, jacuzzi, and the gym, especially the gym because I like to work out. True, the equipment was old but the spin bikes were fine for getting a half hours worth of exercise. Another thing I liked was the availability of a huge dirt parking area behind the hotel where I could leave my car for free for the duration of the stay. There is also a Carrefour supermarket 500 meters away. . The negative points about the hotel are: the size of the pool--very small; the junky looking shop at the entrance; the proximity to other hotels that means you can't leave your curtains open (our room looked out onto the lobby of another hotel--a stone's throw away); and the beaches nearby that are not only shingled but drop off quickly, making them very dangerous for children . Would I go back? Probably in order to see more of Barcelona and the north of Catalonia, but not for the town itself, which was totally touristy and tacky. For the price it would be hard to get a four-star hotel like the Sirius anywhere else in Spain, and I have searched assiduously every spring for the last ten years.
Pleasant stay
First impressions were mixed, nice reception area although not strikingly impressive but tastefully decorated and well air conditioned. No porter service visible although the two receptionists were very helpful. Rooms I thought were a little on the small side but well furnished very clean and tastefully decorated. Maid service and new linen daily which I must say was excellent and well deserving the 4* status. Facilities included: Fridge which cost a minimum of 18 euros+ 5 deposit? Safe again for a small fee. TV, which from our point of view was useless as it only received local or Spanish channels or CNN with no pay for view. There was only one internet access point I was aware of, in the main lobby but it was usually occupied by children on one of the chatrooms. The balcony was from our point of view a major disappointment and was overlooked directly by the adjacent hotels balconies some 20 or so yards away. If you like to spend a little quiet time on the balcony sipping your cubra libra this is not the hotel for you. The restaurant is very pleasant and plenty large enough to seat the occupants of the hotel and i did not experience any waiting for tables. The food was good quallity and there was plenty of it . The bar service was also good and prompt if a little on the expensive side unless you remembered to ask for the locally made cheaper drinks, spirits especially. There was some children’s entertainment although it was very poorly attended because of the lack of places outside where they could hold their activities and the size of the pool. The adult Cabaret was very basic indeed. The pool was also very small and I counted 80 sun beds around it all about 6 inches apart, there are 161 rooms in the hotel with an average of 2 people per room. So you can guess the scene at 8.30 in the morning with people struggling to get their towels on their beds before any one else. The resort consists of some pleasant little shops and bars although I found it difficult to locate a good quality restaurant that may have been due to my poor knowledge of the area. In all I would have to say that I would not go there again, although I do not regret going this time, I expect a little more of a four star Hotel, I felt the lack of grounds and space really limited the hotels appeal although they have done the best with what was available.
Hotel Spotless
Just back from a week at the Sirius. One of the best Hotels my husband and I have been in. Definately worth the 4* given. We were half board and only went down for breakfast 3 times, nothing much for the Brits - preferred to have a lie in. Evening meal was always good, plenty to choose from. Hotel was spotlessly clean and very roomy. We were lucky to have a room at the rear of the Hotel so did not have the problem of overlooking any of the adjoining Hotels, can see this would annoy peeps tho. Never got to the Pool even although we were on the same floor - always queues for 9.00 opening - not very large either for the size of the place. Very quiet resort - not for youngsters - we felt a week was enough for us. If you are looking for a relaxing, recharge your batteries hol then I would recommend the Sirius.
not bad but not great
HI there, I am just a few days back from 10 nights in hotel siruis in santa suzanna. I am 24 and my girlfriend is 26. Overall the hotel was very good, the cleanest i have ever stayed in and everthing is new and shiney. The food is What you would expect from a spanish hotel - cooked and conanental breakfast. and a buffet dinner selection that was large but not varied enough (same things in a row) and my girlfriend is a veg and found it hard going as for some reason there was meat in everything even the potatos. The location is perfect, right next to the wee trains that take you on tours, shops, beach, 5 min walk to station, however it is sandwiched inbetween to massive hotels so your balcony might look into another (rooms at the back are better). The pool area is nice but not very big and the reception staff speak good english but the bar staff do not. The suna relax area are both great however the gym is a waste of space, anyone who has been to a gym in the last 20 years will ignore it. It looks like they have collected 6 old machines that other gyms were binning and put them together. space better used for somthing else. However the real let down of the hotel for me was the entertainment at night. Santa suzanna is really not much of a young place there are a few dicos but they are only busy at the weekends with spanish, there is really no good pubs or atmosphere. so really the hotels seem to do the entertainment. Most seem to do well but siruis is lacking well behind, the acts that they had were god awful, one really bad one was some woman with a keyboard who was obuvsly just learning, in fact they were all just cheap. There was no, magians, hypnotists, bands, just really bad dancers. The games were quite sucsessful however the prize was discrasful, a couple we knew got the full house at bingo they won a jug of sangra and we won the quiz and got one half beer between 8 of us!!!! overall not bad hotel but only go if you like to get to bed early cause nights are very dull
Loved The Sirius
We Stopped at the Hotel Sirius on the 6th June 2006 for 2 weeks it was great the hotel location the hotel was lovely clean and friendly the food was excellent and i am a fussy person but there was always something to eat. The towels where changed every day and the bedding every two days the staff where great the entertainment was so so but you cant have everything the rooms are spacious with plenty of storage space. It has a Sauna and Jaccussi and a Gym the Hotel is only 5 storeys high and is very nice. The pool is great not huge but enough to accommodate everyone you cant put your towels down till 9 o clock so there is no queue jumping. A very relaxing holiday and i will be going back. Mr & Mrs J Hay
Good Hotel
Really nice, modern hotel which is kept spotlessly clean. Pool lovely but not heated so very cold. Good poolside bar which sells snacks and drinks. Rooms nice with good sized balconies (although they do look on to balconies of other hotel) with a view of the moutains behind. Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are free in the hotel and are worth a try although can be quite busy at times. Food in hotel wonderful if you enjoy fish and seafood. If not then still reasonable choice with pasta, chicken, salad, chips etc. Hotel looked like the nicest one in Santa Susanna or in neighbouring Malgrat. Santa Susanna is modern resort which is not as built up as Malgrat and is slightly less tacky. Beach looks nice but is shingle sand so wear decent shoes!!! Hotel 5 minute walk from the Train station in Santa Susanna so easy to go to Barcelona (one hour journey and only 6 euros return) or further up the coast to one of the other resorts. If you head to Malgrat in the evening there are lots of bars. Particularly enjoyed Legends where the bar staff are very friendly and helpful. If i return to Costa Brava would definately go back to the Sirius Hotel.
Dont let the picture fool you
Just back from a 4 night stay in Sirius with my boyfriend (both early 30's) looking for some sun and relaxation. Our first comment would be on the lovely sunny picture of the hotel with nothing immediately next door...There are infact large hotels on either side of Sirius with every room looking into someone else's balcony, the larger hotels cast shadows over Sirius all day long. We couldn't fault the rooms however as they are cleaned every day which was excellent. Santa Susanna is not the place for fine dining - it is all fast food joints - chips with everything, so stick to the hotel for fresh meat, salads, veg etc. Santa Susanna is also not the place if you want to relax in a nice pub/bar, apart from the one in the hotel. Noisey times of the day - 10.30am woman on microphone doing water aerobics in the pool for an hour, 3-4pm ish woman in microphone entertaining the kids, 7.30pm- 12am ish there is always something doing in the Saloon Bar like a pub quiz or a Brazilian dancing troup. Be warned if you are in room 231 like we were, you are right next door to the Saloon Bar to no peace and quite for you, until everyone leaves and heads for bed. Not good when you have to get up early for your flight home. All in all we got what we paid for but wouldn't be rushing back to Santa Susanna until we were much older in our years.......
Great Value
What a nice hotel! We got a good deal on line staying at this hotel and paid only £15 per person per night. The hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere and the staff were constantly cleaning. Staff very nice and drinks in hotel pretty reasonable. Lovely hotel rooms, all with balconies. Unfortunately the balconies overlook the hotels next door (as do a lot of the hotels in this area). Facilities very nice. Was especially nice to have proper shower and changing rooms in the holding luggage area so that you can still make the most of your last day. Pool very cold in April and isnt heated! We went just at the beginning of the Season so it was very quiet in Santa Sussana. We are going to go back in September. Lovely for a relaxing trip.
you get what you pay for
just back from a week in Spain. We stayed at the Hotel Sirius in the incredibly clean, flat and quiet resport of Santa Susanna. Santa Susanna is well served by a half hourly train service to Barcelona and in the other direction you can reach Blanes and Lloret De Mar by Train and Bus. A good location for a cost effective trip to get some sun and see the sights of barcelona. The hotel was very clean and well appointed but fell far short of our expectations for a 4star hotel. The food was mediocre and the pool area not at all suited for families or the active. But at the price we paid via Globespan no complaints at all. Would recommend for friends and couples looking to chill out and visit Barcelona once or twice during a stay. But would recommend that families with childred aged over 2 look elsewhere.
