After reading the review that stated...

Oct 2007, Miss S Nicholson

After reading the review that stated 4 out of 10 was a little worried. Didn't need to be worried though. Hotel was fantastic.
Room - very clean, large enough. View not great but who goes on holiday to sit in the bed room? When patio door shut was quiet after about half 11. had no problems sleeping.
Food - I am a fussy eater and I found something to eat at each meal. There was fruit both in the mornings and evenings. Good selection of food for evening meal and everything that you could want for brekki - even chocolate cake (yes for brekki!) If you are not having meals in the hotel not many other places to eat. We had to find lunch which was a choice of burger king or over priced cheese toastie type stuff.
Men do need to have trousers on at dinner but my other half had jeans on and there were no problems, just smart casual really.
Staff - all very friendly and helpful
Entertainment - dance shows, animal show bingo. Nothing too special but just outside there are lots of stalls along the road.
I would stay there again.

Sep 2007, Mr G Jenkins

My wife and I stayed 7 days at the Sirius Hotel in August. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly and approachable!
The food standard was good and we had plenty fresh fruit on offer at breakfast and dinner every day.
Our only negative point is that the pool area was a bit small.
Santa Susanna is a base to visit Barcelona as you have the benefit of a beach holiday and a city break combined! I find it annoying to read people complaining about the hotel, after all, we only paid £245 each which included our flights, transfers and half board accommodation. I am also glad that the hotel management stands by their dress code for dinner in the evening.
All in all, a very pleasant relaxing holiday... We would definitely go back!

Just returned from an 11 night stay...
4 / 10
Sep 2007, Ms H Slaven

Just returned from an 11 night stay at this hotel and couldn't wait to get home, we go on holiday abroad 5/6 times a year and this has to be the worst hotel ever.
Very noisy, after 5 nights of no sleep we paid 180 euros to upgrade to a suite, this was a joke as the room was the same as the others only with a seating area, 2 chairs and a wooden coffee table, the only good thing was it had a sea view (between the hotels across the road).
Bar staff and maids are excellent and the hotel is very clean but this is all it has going for it, the food was awful, no fresh fruit at breakfast of dinner, everything came out of a tin, the only night the food was edible was Saturday, this is when the Spanish book in for the weekend, then we found out were all the fresh fruit went, it was used to decorate the salad counter, couldn't believe the waste.
Very noisy hotel, it is surrounded by other hotels and most of the rooms are at the side of the building, it is so close to the other hotels on either side you could jump across, do not get room 322 as this one (or any in that area) is right at the bin area of the other hotel and all you hear during the night is bottles being thrown in to bins, bin lorries first thing in the morning, delivery vans, noise is unbelievable.
The resort itself is very clean, but very busy and to get to the beach you have to go through underpasses, dirty and sprayed with graffiti. Didn't feel safe at all during our 11 night stay.
Sorry if you've already booked and haven't been yet but we did the same, we looked at the various web sites like this one and went because of the comments, but then everyone has different tastes.

Sep 2007, Miss K Hurrell

The good points of the hotel were the cleanliness, although the bleach used in reception and restaurant were a little over powering and the maid service was excellent.
The food I found reasonable as I am a fussy eater although we had a child with us who is also fussy. I feel that children were not really catered for having only fish fingers one night in the week.
The hotel entertainment was poor and there were few shows in the town. There was one in particular that was good but when you have seen it twice you want something different. We had one night in the Waikiki Bar which was good but drinks were fairly expensive.
We searched a lot of food places for dinner and the best one we found was the Eureka Corner. It had a varied menu and served a great cup of tea, just up from the Rovers Return, which was fairly greasy.
The pool was nice but small and if the hotel had been busier I can imagine how difficult it would be to get a sun bed. I'm not really a beach person and the shingle was terrible.
We were lucky and had good weather otherwise this would have turned into a terrible holiday.

The hotel is brilliant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is excellent.
The food is also very good and the entertainment on the whole very good, however the cheesy Spanish keyboard man is only enjoyable if your over 80 and deaf.
Highly recommend this hotel for an enjoyable relaxing stay.

The hotel is exceptionally clean, well located both centrally within the resort and close to the beach. I spent a week with my mum mid August in Santa Susana.
The staff are very friendly & inviting. There is a wide variety of good food in the restaurant trying to cover for different tastes - I tried everything.
Entertainment at night was interactive, enjoyable. Its worth going to Barcelona for a day, trains 6 euro 1way and leave every half hour.
An enjoyable relaxing holiday.

My holiday was amazing, the hotel service was perfect, day-night entertainment, room always clean, nice view from the balcony.
We had half board and the food was every day different and very tasty!!
Very close to beach, clean see and a lot of bars and restaurants, my favourite one Mauli. Bar.. This resort is close to Barcelona, Water Park.
I just can recommend to everybody.

Aug 2007, Mrs E Spooner

We were two friends late 20s on a girl’s holiday. We had a fantastic time the hotel was great and in a good location. Although fussy eaters there was always a choice of meals we'd like. We felt spoilt with all the options at breakfast.
The staff were really friendly and the entertainment was ok (though mostly we went out) It might have been because it was high season but I think it might have been better than some of the previous reviews found it.
There is a lovely beach bar not far from the hotel but you can’t see it from the road with sofas to lounge on whilst sipping cocktails looking out to sea.
We took a trip to Barcelona. There is an excursion company in resort (5 mins walk left if facing beach in front of hotel) 12 euro for return coach or 23 euro for return coach and tour.
I really enjoy Barcelona and although have been before a few times I can’t wait to go back again.
We both loved the atmosphere of Santa Susanna as its not intimidating at all, we had a relaxing holiday with some fun nights out.

Jul 2007, Mr S Morrissey

Visited the Sirius hotel June this year, I had checked the reviews and was delighted that they are all true.
This hotel was ideally located just a 5 minute stroll to the beach and the same for all the shops.
My partner and I were not to interested in anything to lively, and were set on a relaxing break, This suited us ideally.
If you did want to get a bit lashed up or have a night out then up the road is several bars and a club, not that you tell from the hotel as its pleasantly quite all night.
The market is every Tuesday and is held right outside the hotel, there is also several stalls along the promenade every evening.
The hotel was great the food was always cooked properly and had a reasonable variation every night.
The rooms were a decent size, well furnished and cleaned thoroughly every day; the towels were also changed as often as you wanted.
The staff on reception, at the bar and in the restaurant were both pleasant and helpful at all times.
My only criticism was the pool was a little tiny but with the beach so close who cares.
Also as always Spanish entertainment leaves a lot to be desired especially the keyboard player, though every time I have been to Spain it always the same.
All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and resort for a future destination.

Jul 2007, Miss L Fowkes

We stayed at the Sirius last week and overall it is fantastic, the only thing I can say is that the food was very repetitive everyday and not much by the way of chicken.
The entertainment wasn’t brilliant either but bearable, and the parrot show was the best entertainment they had.
Rooms were immaculate and so was the rest of the hotel, staff were very pleasant and the hotel was situated quite well.
A massage on the beach is an absolute must! A little embarrassing as you get lots of onlookers but for 14 Euros for a full body massage it is well worth it and very relaxing.

We are a couple in our early 60's...

Jun 2007, Mrs M Hornby

We are a couple in our early 60's (but young at heart), and have recently returned after spending a week’s holiday at the Sirius. The hotel was spotlessly clean at all times.
The rooms were tastefully decorated with plenty of cupboard space. The balcony, although it was on the side of the building, had a pleasant view of the surrounding areas and we had sun from the afternoon until early evening. The air conditioning worked effectively when needed.
The TV in the room was not much use because there was only one English speaking channel, but we didn't find this a problem. The bedding was changed every day and towels laundered as often as required.
The meals were excellent with plenty of choice to suit everyone’s taste. We never had to queue for a table, despite the hotel seeming to be full. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
There were very few English people in the accommodation, mainly Dutch, but the ones we met were friendly and, unlike us, could speak another language.
The entertainment was very basic, but we only needed to walk a few yards from the hotel to find plenty of bars etc. with leisure facilities. The shingle beach was only a 5 minute walk away, but as we live in a seaside resort, we only ambled to the beach once.
The resort itself is quiet and therefore perfect for a more relaxing type of holiday. We only saw one disco in the area, which was not too noisy. It was pleasant to have an evening stroll along the boulevard outside the hotel, where there were market stalls and craftsmen displaying their skills.
We felt safe in the resort, there did not seem to be any kind of trouble, very seldom saw police presence.
The resort is ideally situated for catching the train to Barcelona. It costs only 6.20 Euros each, and takes about an hour, an enjoyable trip as the train runs along the coastline. Well worth a visit. La Rambla is very entertaining with plenty of market stalls and street artists, but it gets extremely hot!
Two train stops away is the resort of Calella, which is brilliant if you like shopping. I left my husband on the beach whilst I spent the money!

Overall, a great holiday.

Feb 2007, Miss C Clyde

I loved this hotel! The rooms were very clean and the en suite was lovely.
Food was delicious! I and my partner went to the Jacuzzi every morning, sauna and steam room before going up to the pool!
The bar is nice at night especially if you sit outside.
Only thing I can really fault was that the entertainment wasn’t that great but there was plenty to do outside the hotel anyway.
The pool was freezing as well. Good if you’re really hot I suppose!
