Don PC is a 2 star resort and as such lives up to this standard. In fairness it is maintained quite well but has quite a substantial cockcroach population throughout most rooms (although this is indicative of most resorts in Lanzorote.) Staff are extremely dour and moreso... more

Review in brief- close to great beaches. Rooms basic but Ok, However very noisey at all hours of day and night due to door buzzers that sound through all rooms due to poor soundproofing- not funny at 0500hrs when guests return to rooms adjacent/above. Hotel staff seem... more

Please read! Dont waste your valuable week off work!!!
After a long hard think about where to spend our hard earned money and precious week off work, me and my boyfriend decided on Lanzarote as it would be nice for us as a couple with plenty of friendly people from the uk (having worked abroad before and currently work for an airline, i thought it was a safe bet) We booked Don paco castilla....all inclusive...fair price..WORST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT was the 24th of May and much to our horror it was like being stuck in that film cocoon!!!!Everyone was Spanish or Dutch and over the age of 80!!We felt sooo isolated! STaff were horrendously unhelpful and ignorant...apart from claudia, marco and bas...but our life was made hell by these staff that hated the fact we were all inclusive and refused to serve us..no glasses just plastic and even hiding round the corner of the bar and looking at watch so they could refuse us past 11pm...we dont even drink alot!? It was disgraceful.. Food Horrible, unless you like peas mixed with bacon that is! Weather was awful...entertainment in another language...what a waste of a grand!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would go back !!
I have just arrived back after spending a week with my boyfriend in Don Paco. We both found the place to be very clean and well maintained although we did have a slight problem trying to get into our apartment because of the door handle. We spent most of our time down at the pool which was cleaned every day but I would recommend that you test the water temperature before jumping in as it wasnt all that warm!!! The complex was very close to a beautiful, clean beach and was a good 20 min walk from the centre of Puerto del Carmen but we had no problems in getting a taxi from reception to take us to the centre for approx €5. We found the staff to be very helpful and we both enjoyed our stay in Don Paco and I would certainly go back.
Not one of the best
I stayed at the Don Paco Apartments during the New Year with my girlfriend and from reading some of the reviews on here prior to my visit, they were pretty accurate. We stayed here more out of a lack of choice due to a late booking My first opinion was that the apartment in general was as basic as expected and at night time could be quite dangerous with the poorly lit paths and very steep stairs to get around the site. The Reception staff were friendly and helpful despite giving the impression they know they are always fighting a losing battle! It was a bit of a nasty surprise to find out you have to cough up about £20 to watch tv for the week and a deposit for the remote control too. On arriving to our door there was a used old mop and some other dirty cleaning items against the wall outside.. nice! When entering we had to switch on the main fuse to power on the electricity (Reception will tell you about this if you can understand!). To be fair all of the rooms were suprisingly clean (no sign of any cockroaches) although my biggest complaint would be the rubbish beds which are so uncomfortable! You will often find that the running water is luke-warm and don't expect a great view from your balcony, we looked on to a car park. A maid will arrive every couple of days to clean and change the bed linen/towels which was reasonable enough. A big plus is that the apartments are a 5 min walk away from the long stretching beach over the road, although it is a 40 min walk in to town or a 7 min Taxi ride costing €5.
Cat Paco
We stayed in this accomadation the end of Jan start of Feb although it was a supposed last minute cheap and cheerful break it was neither cheap or cheerful their are numerous extras from the hiring of a tv remote €10 to the tv channels €21 to all the other extras not highlighted when booking.Although the weather was terrible the first few days this would not have dimmed our few of the place had any of the in-house entertainment been enjoyable or the resturants good quality.Although not cheap while having a meal on the first night we witnessed staff giving out and rolling their eyes at other diners who entered not realising they had stopped serving. The gentlemen that worked on the reception desk could not have been more unhelpful if they tried four nights in a row we attempted to get them to order us a taxi to go into the centre of Puerto Del Carmen as it was raining and not possible to walk every time they would nod and smile and pick up the reciever as if to make the call and then walk away and never return or begin dealing with other people. My boyfriend also lost his mobile in a taxi while over their and we explained at reception could we have a number to contact the local company and ask them did they have it turns out it was returned that night and was sitting in a drawer for three days before the lady at reception remembered we had lost one. The worst part had to be the constant presense of numerous cats all around the building and in reception, their crying for food would wake you at night and anytime you walked out of your apartment you were guarnteed their would be at least two sitting in front of you block. On our last night we were woken by again cats crying and as we walked down to the reception area we count 6 cats in the garden area/path just beside the reception.
Faulty Towers !
First impressions were good. A large reception area with friendly english speaking staff. We were given a map of the complex to find our apartment and confirmed the use of a cot for our one year old. We arrived at the apartment after a few wrong turns and were impressed to see the cot being wheeled in. We didn't think it strange that our door was aleady open until we came to leave for a stroll and found that we couldn't get the door locked. I had to make the trek back to reception to get the on site handy man to look at the door. He arrived promptly but took a further 45 minutes of drilling and banging the door to get it locked. You had to hire sattelite tv and a fan from reception so I made the trip again. I had to take the fan back as it was faulty and demanded the reception manager show me that it worked before I walked back to the apartment with it. The tv was a disaster. Having a toddler we relied on the tv for our entertainment in the evening. The handy man spent the next 3 days of our week long holiday trying to get our sat. signal to work properly. The tv would lose the signal every so often and we could only pick up 3 english channels. When we got over these initial problems we did end up enjoying our stay. The complex was a 10 minute walk (from the bottom gate) from los pocillos beach. An amazing beach that went on for miles and was fairly deserted. I would also recommend the fiddlers green for eats. They only had one highchair that was a bit grotty but the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Our daughter loved the stew. We are returning to lanzarote this winter again but will not be staying at don paco again.
The Worst place I have ever stayed
I have thought long and hard how to describe our stay at the place. I have been to Lanzarote six times so I think I can give it an honest review. This complex is by far the WORST place I have ever stayed, the staff tries their best but it’s a losing battle, the whole place needs a major facelift. Our first room was so dirty with old food and dead cockroaches on the floor. The smell from the toilet was so bad it could wake you from a coma. this room was in a block where half the rooms were in such a state the could not be used, after battling to get moved the second room was also dirty, old, and had a kitchen that was falling apart, we had to go searching other empty rooms to get kitchen appliances and utensils to use The unlit stair to this apartment was dangerous in the day let alone at night. The entertainment room is a room I can not begin to describe. You just have to see it to believe it; dirty smells and empty. I was asked if I would stay there again, My Answer was. I COULD NOT GO THOUGH THAT SUFFING AGAIN
oh my god!!!!
Where to start!!!... After reading various conflicting reviews decided that we should go ahead and book and make up our own minds. On arrival staff seemed friendly......admittedly it was gone 10pm, but they maybe could of helped us find our appt, it was pitch black and to be honest the directions were crap! Anyway - got there...not much breath left as were on the top floor but still kind of happy to be there - until we couldn't open the door! Managed to get in - god knows how but this happened on numerous ocassions so kinda got used to it in the end! Anyway again...once inside the wife was moaning instantly - had a row ...told her she was being a snob as the accom. was not that bad - then it happened...within 2 minutes of arriving, a cockroach scuttled across the kitchen worktop. From there on in it was down-hill...the fridge didnt work, in fact it was in bits! The kettle didnt work, in fact it sat in a pool of water just waiting to electricute someone! And as for the bath water...well if you are comfortable bathing in water that looks like pure sewerage then this is the place for you! We went on a villa holiday last year and only decided on this kinda holiday again cos of the kids. Have learnt our lesson cos realise they are not as bothered about the mini-discos as i thought they were! Having said that...had it not been for Stefan - the only entertainment, I think the bar downstairs would of emptied every night. Got the feeling people were only comng because of his efforts. As for the resort itself...pure skegness!! costa teguise is soooo much nicer and to be quite honest - not only is this the worst holiday we have ever had - we will not be doing the package thing again...just in case it's as bad as this place, couldn't wait to get home!!!
great time at don paco
We have just come back from staying at the Don Paco the complex is very nice and all the staff it is a bit from pc but it does advise this the rooms were cleaned daily the maids were very nice also staff at reception and bar very nice nothing too much trouble would we stay again yes security patrol at night so no noise or partys which is very good
Far from the best
On first impressions the hotel looked fine. The rooms seemed clean even though they were out dated. There are three swimming pools of which the largest was in poor condition. On arrival we were advised by the hotel reception that the rooms were not cleaned on Fridays or Monday, however our room was cleaned only four times in two weeks. We were therefore only given clean towels and bed sheets on these four occassions. The staff are possibly the rudest I have ever had the missfortune to meet. The bar/restuarant staff either ignored our requests, or laughed and then ignored us. Three items dissapeared from our room with an approximate value of GBP 150.00. When this was reported to the hotel they acted in their usual unhelpfull manner and asked us to call the police or ignore the theft. Hotel staff seem to make every effort to make as much noise as possible at 0800 every morning. We were especiclly unlucky as the staff cafe was directly under our room. Therefore if you do enjoy late mornings this is definitely not the hotel for you. My mother and father in law had to move from their orriginal hotel room after only the fifth night, as the room/building was infested with cock roaches (at least 5 were found in their room per day). The staff on reception finally admitted there was a massive problem with that particular building when agreeing to move them to another room. However as we were checking out they were still sending unaware families into the same building. Only with one exception, I must state again how rude all the staff were during our stay and due to this reason alone our family will never visit this hotel again, let alone have the missfortune of sleeping or eating there.
Never Again.
My wife and 2 daughters have just returned from a holiday in a 2 room apartment in DPC. On arrival we discovered that DPC is 45 minutes walk from the center of Puerto Del Carmen something that our travel agent failed to mention but this fact may be useful to anyone reading these reviews. On check-in we dragged our luggage up and down flights of stairs to the far end of the complex and up 3 flights of stairs to our apartment. When we tried to open the flaking door it jammed against the tiled floor. After some assitance from a maintenance worker we eventually got in to discover the apartment was covered in dust, generally filthy and devoid of towels. After visiting reception to complain (and also pay 40EUR to get the TV unlocked) they sent someone to plane the door and clean the rooms. Hardly a welcome to remember. During the day, the main bar is open for snacks although be prepared to wait for 45 minutes or more for even a toasted sandwich or hot dog even if you're the only customer. At night this bar closes at 11pm so if you intend to stay up any later that this your only choice is a taxi (or a long walk) to town and back. Also beware that the daytime entrance to the complex is locked after 10pm so you may have an extra 5 minute walk all the way back to reception at night. The final straw with regards to DPC were the cockroaches. We had to spray the apratment internally and externally each day with repellent and would awake each morning to find 3/4 or more strewn on the balcony or scattered throughtout the apartment. Luckilly we were on the 3rd floor, friends of ours had a ground floor studio and found themselves constantly removing them. So if you're not a fan of entomology, stay away,,,
