We where looking forward to a well deserved break away, not having to worry about finding places to eat. What a mistake to make. I wouldent say we were fussy eaters but by the end of are stay we refered to the daily servings of food as slop! The smell of garlic hit you as soon as you entered food hall ( resturant). Every thing was flavoured in garlic. The final straw for me was a lunch time serving of rabbit, duck, and fish. The snack bar was open in between dinning times and beleave me this was no better. Cold beefburgers which could be used and frisby,s. I felt sorry for people staying their with young children as the food would not appeal to their appetite Thomas Cook have got a cheek sending people to stay here.

We had such a great time here we went in July & Sept. Complex is in the slightly quieter end of town which means you can chill out without too many reps trying to drag yu off the street but can also get a taxi for 3-5 euros into the busier strip. The hotel was cleaned every day, Air con was extra but worth paying for. Cooking facilities were basic as you would expect but you had everything you needed including kettle, toaster, pots & pans etc. 4 pools to chose from that was also regualrly cleaned and the staff were very helpful if you spoke to them in the right way. We saw a couple going mad about a cockroach ( we didnt see one on the whole island i 3 weeks) and the staff were trying to help but in te end told them to go away because they were so rude!
A great holiday overall and would definately recommend G&Ts sportsbar for the best breakfast and freshly cooked food which s just through the bottom gates of the resort. Run by a couple of eastendes they provided us with hours of comedy and excellent cheap food!

Just arrived back from Don Paco what a dump he all inclusive is a major joke. food in resturant was really bad luke warm hot buffet cheap every thing cheapest they could find. lots of very rude spanish o.a.ps who pushed and barged there way to the food counter. bar staff very rude and didnt like full inclusive brits at all beer served up in plastic cups coffee in a machine like we have in hospital waiting room nasty. we were not allowed coffe from esspreso machine behind the bar .The bar staff couldnt do enough for spanih oldies they got clean table cloths and were served at the table as the full board brits looked on they also got the good coffee. I heard an old brit man ask for a beer glass he didnt like plastic cup. He was told "no full inclusive plastic no glass" in a very harsh voice no way to speak to any old person no respect.Thomas cook rep didnt care when we complained about our room being damp no help at all but thats no surprise. if you want tv 3 euros per day air con same only three brit stations on tv a very cheap package the hotel goes for the cheapest option but still over charge . so many wild cats running around the grounds eating scaps from the tables cant be healthy. tv in the bar was set on spanish channel with the bar full of brits when you asked bar staff to change it they couldnt speak english they knew how to say no funny that !! all in all dont go to don paco castillo its like being in prison only you treated better in prison.

just returned from a 3 night break omg!!
we travel a lot to similar complexes so know what to expect but never have we experienced such bad food.I had to spit out food into a napkin......lovely, a dessert pear tasted like sucking an old wet towel, the presentation, variety, everything just could have been so much better.
We didnt pay much more for all inclusive than the self catering price, that says it all really. Complex itself needed t l c and steps are a bit dangerous we saw the clown entertainment man fall down the steps to latina place where you eat and someone else fell while we were there.
However, the area is lovely around the beach lovely bars and eateries very good value and resort clean , further in to town a lovely walk or a short cab ride, very good resort something for everyone.
We will be returning but to a different hotel.
This is the first time I have ever been dissapointed with a holiday and hope that the problems can be sorted because I feel sorry for people going with children etc.

Just come back from above where we had a lovely 11 days, Our only complaint was we only had 2 ring's in our room,no toaster no oven and no microwave, which is a joke when you are self catering, had to eat out every day and night, also the step's leading down to Latino restaurant where you eat if you are all inclusive are very, very slippy and dangerous, had a fall down them myself one evening and still have the bruise's, would reccommend some rubber strip's on edge of step's to prevent this happening, staff very friendly and helpful.

We read the reviews and decided to give it a go, because this was a spur of the moment holiday and this was our first Xmas without family. Apartment was clean and quite big, had kitchen facilities for SC two rings only and toaster. The crunch came at meals times the food was foul, we have been going to the canaries for almost 20 years and sometimes the food is not always up to scratch, but this hotel is the first one that we know can burn hard boiled eggs. The food was swimming in oil mostly fish. Soup, mash potatoes and even meat balls all came out of a packet or tin. Veg was frozen and sometimes arrived cold inside. There was no supervisor on duty, and so you would arrive at the counter and only half the trays would have any food in them. Salad bar was good apart from hard boiled eggs smothered in tomatoe sauce (a new one on me). Entertainment - what there was of it was rubbish. The Pontoon bar if you were a smoker was OK, not sure what happened to the law about smoking in public place this did not apply here, so if you wanted to sit and have a quite smoke free drink then go somewhere else. Overall this hotel could do with a lot more attention.

Were to start good location. The staff were very helpful.Would not recomend the food felt sorry for the all in guests because the places to eat just 2 min walk away were very good.the pool was not cleaned very well. The don paco is nice just uncared for with a bit of tlc it could be great. The beach 3min away was very clean and good 30min walk to the main resort but well worth it or 4 euros by taxi. If you get the chance try cafe del carmen the food is out of this world all in all a very good holiday

Just arrived home from our holiday...

Just arrived home from our holiday two adults two daughters 17yrs and 15yrs.
After reading the reviews for the hotel was very nervous paid just over £3000 for ths holiday so by no means 2* prices (although the brochure said it was a 3*)
When our transport pulled up outside the hotel was a little dissappointed as it did look worn and dated. Reception staff was very friendly even though it was late and we were soon in our rooms, which were basic, dated but clean although my daughters were in the next room it smelt very badly of stale ciggarette smoke, as none smokers did find it unpleasant. The maids cleand the rooms five times a week and our towels were changed. We did have a few cockroaches in the rooms during our stay but we were on the ground floor, so no big deal.
The main problem with the resturant was it was in desperate need of more staff. The choice was poor but you could find something to eat, if you are going ,get your fried eggs before the rest of your breakfast or everything will get cold while you queue the lady frying the eggs reloads the bread baskets e.t.c It would have been nice to have your drinks with our meal in a glass and at nite in the bar served in glasses not in the plastic all time.
We seen the pool cleaned most days but the surronding area not cleaned once, the litter was picked up but no sweeping or washing down.
Overall I think the holiday was priced too high for what we paid on top of that they then wanted 3 euro's a day for tv which the only british were sky news bbc news, channel 4 skysport not worth it but we paid it for 3 days because of the olympics thinking we would see it all but only the spanish channels showed it in full. (the enterainment I can't comment on as the room felt uncomfortable so we did not want to sit there for it) They also made a charge for air con which we did not bother with as felt this was a bit of a rip off when you pay for all inclusive. I would not recommend this hotel to my family and friends nor would I go back there myself.
Having said all that I still had a nice relaxing holiday and met some lovely people and it was not half as bad as some of the reviews surggested.

before i start WE GO ON ALL...

before i start WE GO ON ALL INCLUSIVES EVERY YEAR SOMETIMES TWICE AND THIS WAS THE LOWEST OF THE LOW.... 2 adults 2 children
Arrived there sunday night all seemed fine picked up by a taxi arranged by imperial travel so that was good, hotel seemed fine got our apartment room 232 ground floor near a swimming pool looked fine not brilliant but fine . first problem arrived when we closed the patio doors and they didnt lock so anyone could get in, as we were going to see the fireworks in the old town this was a nuisnace so my husband went to reception and said that we had just arrived and the patio doors wouldnt lock they said that they would send someone tomorrow so we would have to get a safe incase???? 44 euros straight away, still we did that! WE DIDNT GET THE TV .
next morning awoke opened the curtains which were next to were i had to sleep as the room was open all night so i couldnt put the kids in there, they had the bedroom.anyway it was like wacky races... cockroaches everywhere on my patio..so my husband went out and did some tap dancing and tried to kill them but they were hundreds, closed the door went to reception and told them they gave us a tin of spray and told us to go and spray some of it . which did work kind of, the man came to fix our door at about 11 ish which lasted until 5 ish and then it broke again,we went to reception to be told that they would come the next morning again so another night with no lock on the door.
The spray seemed to have worked on the cockroaches until the next morning when i awoke to 2 in the apartment then another then another all flameing day so again we went to the reception and the lady said that she would give us some more spray to spray when we said no that wasnt good enough we wanted to move rooms she said that we couldnt so that s it i snapped at last, i said no way were we to sleep with these things it wasnt good enough she said that she would see the house keeper but that it was full up..we then phoned the imperial travel who must have phoned the hotel or something as within a hour we had a call to say that we could move to top floor so off we went to get the key to take a look yes it was ok 40 steps to climb but atleast we were to get away from the nest of cockroaches that were outside and in our apartment.
when we got back to the apartment it had been fumigated with our clothes etc still in there, we actually never said anything about this as it was just another problem...
we moved over to room 115 which seemed to be fine until we took a shower after coming in from the pool .. no warm water none came out at all. we waited until 8.45 for a shower which meant that my little girl missed the mini disco this went on for 7 days we kept telling them but they said they would sort it or they said oh dear! it was one thing after another.it finally got soted once we collared the manager and he came up twice to have a look. the entertainment was rubbish and it was downstairs which was like a cellar where we also saw cockroaches, food was terrible sloppy i spoke to the waitresses who even said that it was awful food one even said that she wouldnt serve it to her dog! which i agreed,we even saw cockroaches in there and told the staff who said no problem and kicked it or stood on it, honestly its the truth.... i felt sorry for the staff as they were worked far too hard they werent enough staff employed. the pool bar wasnt manned enough so folk were just going in to help themselves, snacks were either half cooked when it was there. you had to ask for refills etc when the chips ran out,the pool was cleaned with a brush but i never once saw the sun loungers or floors cleaned with bleach as i have done at other hotels, everyone was getting cold sores etc through hygiene from the pool.although i was ok there.one good thing.so all in all it was a joke we had a good time because we met some nice people so we made it good but it was upsetting to think that we spent this money on a rubbish holiday which really could have been so good with the right management and cleaning etc,
so i would say just stay away until they get sorted out as we didnt even have the basic needs for a holiday never mind the extras.we have spent so much more than planned due to going out to get food to eat and away from the poor hygiene and cockroaches.if we hadnt met nice folk we would have been bored out of our minds and wanted to come home. which on a all inclusive dosent usually happen.it was a expensive lesson.
SO JUST DONT TAKE THE GAMBLE.........book somwhere else.

We have just returned from our family...

We have just returned from our family holiday at Don Paco Castilla apartments we stayed for one week with our three young children.
Overall the Hotel was very clean even around the pool and bars which quite surprised us really, we had read other reviews and were not sure what to expect?
The only real problems we had were with the food it was buffet style morning noon and night and not always suitable for our English palette or for young childrens needs, it was the same foods over and over again and some foods were not that nice, some of the staff in the restaurant were less than happy in their work they seemed to be only a few staff cleaning up for all the guests.
The bar staff were great and mostly friendly and worked hard.
We had a small booking problem when we arrived at the hotel which seemed to take a long time to sort out and in the end my husband has to sort it out himself which meant we had to pay more money for our infant when we arrived, this was really annoying as we had been travelling fro 8 hours and were really tired and needed to change our baby and get food for our children.
When we got in our appartment we were happy with our room it was basic but clean and tidy with enough space for us all.
The maids worked really hard in the hot weather and made our beds and cleaned the bathroom and patio area five times a week!
There was aways gardening staff and maintenance staff working all over the hotel.
There is a small shop and two gift shops on site and laundry services available.
We had to pay extra for air conditioning in our room and sky t.v you also have to pay to get your phone working whick is annoying when youe have all ready paid All Inclusive!
You also have to pay for tennis and golf!
The Disco for kids is on at 9pm every night but it is down three lots of stairs and we had a pushchair! There is also a show on after the disco which could be dancing or a play mostly worth watching.
But the staff we teaching kids to dance every night so in the end even we know the dances and songs!
The free drinks all day and night are useful with children wanting drinks constantly.
Overall it is a good hotel and you could always go self catering but beware things are not cheap sweets and snacks are quite expensive.
Nappies, water and food is quite expensive too.

We have just arrived back from a great 2 weeks at the Don Paco. After reading some of the reviews we were a little worried about what we would find. We had a pleasant surprise. We had a lovely room ,it was very clean and the maids cleaned 5 days a week.It was a bit basic but we paid for a 2/3 star hotel and we got a very good one.Reading some of the other reviews , I think some poeple want 5 star service for 2 star money. The food was very good, a great choice for breakfast, and plenty of choice for dinner in the evenings. There was duck and rabbit served, but on these occasions there was always other choices, pasta, fish and other meats. We have 3 children, one who is a very fussy eater, but even she found plenty of choice every day, and it wasn't chips every day that she ate.As for reviewes saying no choice for children, there was pizza,a type of fish fingers, burgers, spaghetti, chicken etc.
The pools were cleaned every day, We watched them from our balcony every morning.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked trips with their help from a local tour company, which picked up from a bus stop about a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
We had a fantastic time and would recomend this hotel to our friends.
