this was our first holiday to lanzarote and i have to say for the small amount of money we paid i was slightly hessitant...we had a absolouty wonderfull holday!!!! yes we did bump into the odd cockroach but nothing that wasnt very quickly sorted with spay of insect killer after all you are in a hot country and they were not the little food cockroaches you need to worry about .the appartments were cleaned most days and were over all very good. we were lucky enough to get an appartment right on the main pool which was fantastic and led to a great atmosphere of an evening.the pools were kept beautifully and cleaned every morning.i really have no idea how people can say that the food was bad or that all inclusive was not worth the money!!!!i beg to differ!!!!even the fussiest would have found something to eat as the choice was emense...the drinks and ice creams for the kids alone make it value for money!now we come to the staff.....i cannot praise them enough!!! they work very very long hours but always have a smile for you . the childrens entertainment team were amazing with children of many nationatity there yet the kids all joined in as a group.i would not think twice about another holiday to this truly family resort.

hi just got back from holiday on the 9th august 2010 Its a lovely hotel friendly staff swimming pools are lovely, But there is nothing to do in the resort!I went all-inclusive but spent most of my time out of the resort. The breakfast is awful poor streaky bacon and frankfurters sausages and so on, lunch and dinner not to bad :)there beer is horrible and the same with the vodka like water really, found myself going to a bar called CHEERS absolutely fantastic breakfast and lunch and dinner ICE COLD SAN MIGUEL proper pint size and huge double vodka shots with decent coke, they are a lovely couple called Robbie and Jane made you feel very welcome place is
CHEERS BAR C.C. LOS POCILLOS 9 AVENDA LA PLAYA P.D.C
they are situated by the spar through the back gate of the hotel, please pop in and see and say hi from me my name Sarah.I had a fantastic holiday, I would mention to go on the submarine safaris in Puerto Calero marina absolutely amazing, anything else you need to know please leave a comment i will let you know anything. The renting tv and air con rip off you get 1 English channel and 7 foreign and there cable turns of twice a day in a middle of a programmes don't go in there hotel shop they are crazy prices, shops are only 5 mins down the road and the night time entertainment in there downstairs disco my god i was ready to go to bed by 9 and it closes at 11 but i do have to say its brilliant for the kids hope this all helps over all it is a nice hotel clean rooms and clean resort i did enjoy my self but i have to say Robbie and Jane from CHEERS BAR made it even better for me hope you enjoy your holidays there :):)

All Inclusive is not worth a penny!!!

Jun 2010, Yazzie

I believe in being honest when writing a review so here goes.
6 of us went (4 teenagers 1 8year old and 1 adult).
The DPC is not a bad place all in all. The pools are fine and its close to a good beach. BUT (and its a big BUT).....DO NOT GO ALL INCLUSIVE!!! (or half board for that matter) It's really not worth it. The food is shockingly bad! I read the reviews before going and thought " well everyone has their own taste" and believe me we are really not fussy eaters. I had to buy my daughter food every night as she refused to eat anything there. What looked edible was often tastless and the rest...well the look was bad enough to put off the strongest of stomaches. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. If I could have down graded to self catering I would have.
Entertainment was again very poor. Childrens entertainment was a one man show!! If you are 60+ and looking for a spanish waltz or bingo, then DPC is for you. It's very Spanish orientated and very little is aimed at British.
We had 2 apartments and I did have cockroaches 5 nights out of 7 but the next door apart didn't have any.
Personally, I wouldn't return there.

Lovely Holiday!

My boyfriend and I booked booked last minute (4 days before we were due to leave). I read a few reviews before we left and was a little apprehensive about the place. We had good flight times meaning we arrived just after midday giving us time to look around the place.
We had a pool view on the ground floor, with 2, spaced apart single beds despite requesting a double, but other than that cant complain about the apartment. The only other thing I would mention is the cleaners, in the mornings we could hear them talking very loudly to one another but as we liked to get up early it wasnt a major problem, just not ideal if you like a lie in! We chose self catering so cant comment on the food, there is a small supermarket on site handy for the odd bits but would suggest going to the supermarket near the beach as there is more variety.
There were always plenty of sunbeds as there are 3 pools, but would imagine in summer you would need to get up early to get a sunbed. The pool areas were nice and quiet, enough going on without being too rowdy or noisy.
We were 5 minutes from the beach were we found a variety of places to eat and a couple of supermarkets. We spent most of our time in this area as we enjoyed a couple of the english/irish bars, which were very good for a lunchtime bar snack. Puerto del Carmen is a 15-20 minute walk away but is a nice walk so we didnt bother with a bus or taxi.
Haven't got many complaints about the Don Paco apartments, apart from the single beds and noisy cleaners but other than that it was much better than I was expecting. As it was very last minute and we hadnt planned on going away it was a lovely break away, would stay here again in January as it is quieter.

  • Advice: Better than expected seeing as it was last minute

lovely except for the cockroaches!!!

i went last year for a week all inclusive with a group of friends. On arrival we were really impressed with teh room sizes! they are rooms with good kitchen facilities and most rooms had seperate bedrooms. Howevere our group of 8 was split into two groups and 4 of us had a horrible first 2 days being put in rooms which were right by reception with major cockroach infestation. Our friends in teh next door room were greeted with a horrible stench in their bathroom and after 2 days of complaining cleaners finally came and took down the ceiling tiles to reveal hundreds of dead cockroaches. We were worried as our room was next door, but we perservered- mistake! as the next morning we opended our bathroom to reveal 2 (huge sized cockroaches running around out bathtub)
we ended up having 3 room changes overall which was a big downer as we were only there for a week and the problems with the cockroaches only stopped when we were put in an appartment not on the ground floor.
The cockroaches were also out in force at night and we saw alot of dead ones scattered around the complex where staff had sprayed killer.
If you ignore the cockroach problem (maybe it was a bad time of year for them) the hotel was actually pretty good, nice and clean the pools were great (4 large size ones to choose from) all clean and not too busy. Its also a short walk to a big beach which is reasonably quiet. its a short taxi ride to the centre of puerto del carmen which is lively at night, ( although you do get bombarded with club reps dragging you into bars with promises of cheap drinks and free champagne - which turns out to be 4% fizzy tastless wine)
The all inclusive options is good if you are going to take advantage of the drinks, the food however is the same most evenings and mostly luke warm.

Dont stay here unless you like cockroaches

Dont stay here unless you like cockroaches... I had an average on 6 per night all over 2 inchs long.
The food was the same every night, they do not cater for children unless you like cheesy chips. The pool bar food was served on plastic plates, drinks were served in plastic cups and hot drinks served in polysterene cups.
The night time disco was held in the basement under main reception but resembled more like a dungeon.

  • Advice: the town was lovely
  • Activities: the volcanoes and the cave that had the blind albino crabs

Lovely holiday - honest review

We are a young couple of early twenties and hopefully this review will come in handy, Before we went I was really worried from the reviews espicially the food but it was fantastic, obviously not a 5* holiday but itsnt advertised as that.
Admittedly the outside looked pretty bad but dont let that put you off. The staff are all very helpful and let us have all inclusive during the whole stay without a cut off time on the last day, there english is fine and they will bend over backwards for you.
The rooms and complex were fantastic, very clean and loads of room. The location couldnt have been nicer, 5minutes to the beach with a few shops and restraunts so nice and quiet and only 8euros or a 45minute walk down the beach to lively peuto del carmen.
The food was fine, plenty of choice for everyone, every night you had either fish, chicken, beef or pork usually differently cooked every night, tons of chips and pasta and a massive salad bar. dessert was a bit rubbish usually just tons of sorbet, angel delight or ice cream but we wernt fussed as we dont usually have dessert anyway.
The bar was brillient, loads to choose from in all inclusive, I expected just beer and wine but also offer cocktails and spirits, house baileys, coke, fanta etc etc, you can only get two at a time per person but they will be leanant some nights, plastic cups until evening.
Loads for kids which was good for us as they went off in the day with kids club for a bit of peace! also, a mini disco at night for them to go into so you hardely saw them but good for families to keep them well entertained.
All in all for what we paid it was more than enough, would deffinatly recommend to anyone.

I don't recommend All Inclusive here

Just back after spending 2 weeks here with our 2 teenagers. Rooms and complex were very clean, but the meals left a lot to be desired and we ended up eating out a couple of times.
You can't get drinks on All Inclusive after 11pm, and to buy a vodka and tonic is about 6 euros!!
The beach is very close by, and there are a few good eating and drinking establishments within walking distance.
Entertainment isn't up to much either, only 6 nights a week and often repeated more than once a week. The only show that I can recommend is the one by the Animation Team, they were really good, but we only saw that show once during our 2 week stay so guess they only do that once a fortnight.
I would stay here again, but on a self catering basis only.
I can highly recommend the Catalanza sailing, which includes a ride on a jetski.....we all loved that.

Go Self Catering

As the title suggests, the all inclusive was ok for a few days then became very samey with much recycled food especially the fish chicken and pork. You always had to queue for drinks in a plastic cup from limited staff, the ponton bar was renamed the smiley smiley bar by my kids as the bar persons were so miserable. However the rooms and pools were immaculate and the air conditioning was spot on.
Excursions were expensive, we hired a car and did the volcanos, camel riding, national park and the south coast resorts for a fraction of the price, the cheapest car hire was the place next to macdonalds, the hotel car hire was expensive. We went to Teguise market by local bus which was cheap as chips and went from the same place as the excursions. Bar wise go to a little irish bar called fiddlers green, happy hour beer at 1.5 euros and a little scottish bar was 2 euros at peak times, otherwise 3-3.5 euros a large one.
Most food outside the hotel was really good, be carefull changing up money, we took sterling and changed at the asian shops,(the hotel and bank rates were rubbish) and were getting at least 1.15 euros to the pound, but check your change before you leave and ask what the rate is as it does vary.

good points -very clean roomy apartment, maid service 4 times over a week.4 swimming pools kept immaculate.no charge for air con. food ok if you're kids not picky or eat burgers, hot dogs chips etc.
not impressed wi all inclusive, got impression food was recycled from previous sittings and bar service was poor- i staff whilst queuing in single file for a chldrens plastic party cup of beer/lager.
evening entertainment and bar finished at 11pm- a bit early for hols.and gate locked if outside of the complex after 11pm.
would recommend for families but go self catering.

Just returned from Don Paco, after reading reviews a little aprehensive, however we had a good holiday here. The location of the hotel is excellent with numerous pubs, clubs restaurants, shops within walking distance or a short taxi ride (approx 5 euros) if you so wish, however the resort of Pocillios has ample restaurants which are more typically spanish. The walk along the promanade is a must especially down to the airport where the aircraft land directly overhead. The hotel itself was adequate for a relaxing holiday, having stayed in the peak season we had no problem getting a sun bed however for those of you who are not sunbathers the shaded areas are limited. The pool areas were spacious and all cleaned daily (very thoroughly)each one having a small childrens pool attached. (note the German/dutch pool was tiled and became very slippy with wet/suncreamed feet.)All inclusive was adequate. Drinks and snacks available for the majority of the day and cakes at 4 o,clock didnt go straight away there were ample for everyone. If you could fit them in, we couldn,t!!! The entertainment was ok however the disco califa was located downstairs with no ventilation and became unbearable in the evenings when the temperature didnt drop much below 30 degrees. If you enjoy venturing out for the day and hire a car it is worth noting the hotel do not offer a packed lunch which results in extra costs if you require lunch. The downsides to this hotel are - Very hot restaurant, queues for drinks at all inclusive bar and some rooms nicer than others. otherwise no complaints

  • Advice: lively resort
  • Activities: timanfaya tour a must 48 euros for 2 ads 2 children if taken independently
