Great Value
I’ve used this hotel for 1 night stopovers numerous times over the past couple of months. It’s ideally situated near to the airport (less than 5mins) but not so close that the noise wakes you up (unlike the Gatwick Travelodge which is virtually on the runway and v noisy till late and then again from 5am). This hotel is exceptionally clean and functional – yes the rooms are pretty basic but for what you pay they are spotlessly clean, comfortable, with TV, kettle/tea making facilities, good shower etc. The staff can speak good English and are friendly, and there’s a bar/restaurant which is ok. Parking on site is fine, I’ve never not got a space despite often arriving late. I’ve never had a single problem when staying at this hotel what-so-ever - which is more than I can say for many others around Gatwick (which have cost a lot more). I’d definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a good value no-hassle stopover before an early morning flight.
Problem free, no complaints
I stayed here overnight in May as I was flying out from Gatwick early the next morning. The room was clean, comfortable, roomy and well-equipped - the TV had lots of extra channels which was very useful. (Thank goodness they had TVE International so I was able to watch the Eurovision semi-finals!). I hadn't realised there would be a restaurant downstairs but ended up eating there - again, no problems or complaints. I had been a bit concerned beforehand about the shuttle, as I had planned to leave the hotel at 4am, but needn't have been. The reception staff asked me at check-in if I would like the shuttle bus & what time, etc. Also the bus driver (I think he was Pawel but could be wrong?..) was very friendly & chatty, which I think is always a good way to be welcomed, even though I was staying only one night. All in all, terrific! I'd recommend it to anyone - it's just the right distance from Gatwick for you to get there quickly via the shuttle bus, but presumably not *too* close, as I certainly didn't get any noise from the airport. I would certainly stay here again.
Perfect for a stopover
My wife stopped over for one night at the Ibis Gatewick on the way to Egypt and also on the way back. The pickup service is dependable and the hotel is convenient to the Gatewick Airport. The price is low, especially on weekends and the rooms are modern, clean, compact but very functional. The air conditioned lobby has a snackbar and computers/wifi for a price, The hotel seems to be run by a Russian family and the level of English varies so double-check the details. I certainly could recommend the Ibis for short stays at a reasonable price.
Basic but adequate
Typical standard for an Ibis hotel - no better or worse based on our 1 night stay. Shuttle service efficient - free from airport, 4 quid to airport. Beware, you have to book in advance for the early morning slots. The double room was clean and had air conditioning. Didn't try the breakfast. This hotel is fine if you have an early morning flight the next day.
Great Value and Great deals
Me and my partner were going to a wedding reception later on in the day and decided to come down early so we could find a place just to chill out untill about 6. We went to the Ibis and they have this fantastic rate called Day Rate which is £35 from 9am to 6pm. Yes the rooms maybe basic but they have everything you need!!! Great value for a hotel in a popular area! Loved it. Thank you Ibis
Basic clean hotel
Cheap airport hotel, very hard beds and even harder pillows. There appear to be no twin bedded rooms, just doubles or triples with a double bed and bed suitable for a child. No proper restaurant just a cafe, food OK. Staff were friendly.
Very Good no frills hotel
The Ibis was a good airport hotel. The airport pickup was easy (call the yellow phone just outside the terminal.) The room was basic but clean and had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was small but perfectly fine. The cafe was confusing. They had a posted menu, but there is no wait service. Nothing indicates that, however. Go up to the counter, order and pay up front. The food is good, but the service is indifferent. The staff is not English, and they don't seem to fully understand English. My food order included bread, but I never got it even after specifically asking for it. I had planned to walk to the Manor as mentioned earlier, but it was too cold and windy this night. I would recommend the hotel highly, but not the cafe.
a great hotel
We were flying off to America the following day so needed a cheap but clean hotel to stay in. The Ibis was just this, the room we had was very clean and the hotel staff were very polite and helpful. The room had a small on-suite shower room but was very suitable as a lay-over hotel. We went in to Crawley for food and it was close enough to walk back (about 20-30 minutes) We used the shuttle bus back to the airport the following day and the driver was very helpful. A great place to stay with no complaints.
Not for the business traveller
I am currently lodging at the IBIS as I write this. This is my secound tour here, as I visit the area frequently. The good. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and for the area, cheap rooms The bad. Do not expect to get any sleep, this is the noisiest hotel I have ever been in. People coming and going at all hours, and most of the clientele seems to be non-business travellers who are energized and want to party. I have managed a total of 9 hours sleep during the past 3 nights.. Frequent toilet flushing around the clock is annoying unless you are on the top floor (then you cant hear it) Watching TV is not an option either, not even the ability to purhase a movie if you would like to watch one.. BBC1 and 2, a spanish channel, a game show channel and a soccer channel is about all that is offered The lobby/restaurant continually plays some weird music that is just loud enough that you have to shout to have a conversation. The food selection is poor, but whatever is chosen is not bad (I wouldnt plan on eating a meal here.. snacks are fine) I spent a week here in October and had the same experience but thought I would try them again this time.. no change.. do not expect to sleep For business travel.. spend a little extra and get a nice place to sleep.. I have two more nights to spend here.. and they will be my last.. but.. if socially travelling and just looking for a place to grab a few winks, a shower, etc before going to the airport... perfect..
Just fine
Perfect for overnight airport stays. Basic budget rooms but with everything you need for a one-nighter, clean and well-maintained. Excellent value for money. If waiting for the shuttle, make sure to call from the courtesy phone by pier 11 outisde the ground floor level at the airport, it's not part of the regular service. As others say, make sure to book your return shuttle at reception on check-in. Only downside was the food. Absolutely terrible, limited choice and tasted like microwaved meals. Avoid it at all costs.
