Perfect for the airport
We stayed at this hotel the night before a flight from Heathrow. The room was clean with a comfortable bed. We didn't eat at the hotel so unable to comment. The shuttle bus runs regularly to the North and South terminals for £3 each way. We got a taxi back as we were tired from a long light and this was £14. We would definately stay here again when flying from Gatwick.
Good value airport hotel
This is a good location. It is well priced with airport parking too. There is a shuttle bus with regular half hour timings although this does cose £3pp per way, so have change ready. The rooms are roomy and very acceptable with tea-coffee making facilities and a trouser press. The reception staff were very friendly. TIP - If you need to refuel your car or want food/snacks and do not want to pay hotel prices, there is a Tesco within 30 seconds of the hotel. Turn out of the hotel entrance and then left on the roundabout and Tesco is... more
The problem is the staff, not location\facilities
The hotel itself was fine, no complaints, but the issues I had were with the staff. If it had been just one member, I would have given the hotel the benefit of the doubt, but I had trouble with a few people, so possibly the blame would lie with the training and\or management. The check-in took over 15 minutes due to staff being trained. I dealt with a South African member of staff thoroughout this painful process. I proceeded to my room to order some room service (no food in resteraunts after 9pm) and got the same guy on the... more
brilliant stay, great service
Stayed for two nights 5/6 november... first things first, the wife booked it and usually we end up dissappointed when she organises our trips! not so here..no sooner had we arrived than the lovely receptionist (samantha) upgraded us for FREE. so we ended up in room 105, very nice, good size, double bed, plenty of pillows, wide screen lcd, good bathroom. we booked 2 nights dinner b+b. so dinner on the first night was 3 courses from their menu, no restriction on price. ended up about £65. considering we only paid £149 for the... more
Average hotel.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel the night before going on holiday as we had an 8am flight from Gatwick. We were really pleased with the room, it was large with a sofa and the usual television, hairdryer, tea tray, mini-bar. We ate in the hotel bar and the food was really nice. We went to the room to get an early night but unfortunately it was probably the worst night's sleep I've ever had! There was no air conditioning and the windows wouldn't open - it was boiling! It is often hard for me to sleep the night before holiday... more
NOISY & STUFFY - check there's not a wedding on!
We needed a family room for one night as we were travelleing from our home on the Isle of Wight and needed to leave the Ramada at4.30am to travel the 4 miles to Gatwick - so this seemed an ideal hotel and it's internet description described an oasis of calm and tranquilty, a resting place for the weary traveller! Right we thought, lets treat ourselves to a night in this 4* hotel, get our holiday under way a day early .We arrived to check in at 3.15pm, room should have been ready for 2pm.Nope, not done yet.."sit in the bar and wait" they... more
Nothing special
No one comes to a Gatwick hotel for a holiday. You stay here BECAUSE of your holiday. As a result, it seems that the hotels have formed a cartel to push prices as high as possible. Couldn’t find any bargains, but this was the best price / quality (value) deal we could find. It worked out as £69 for two Inc breakfast. We needed parking for 10 nights as well, but Ramada wanted another £80 for this, AND charged for the connection bus. (We used Courtlands Parking down the road for £56 - no problems and connection was about 5mins, not the... more
Clean, Comfortable & Accessible Airport Hotel
I researched a few Gatwick hotels. Nothing like coming from a great vacation & nice hotels to a last night depressing airport hotel, and this one is not depressing! The Ramada Plaza's rooms were better than I expected---actuallly nicer than the common areas: nice beds, 2 fluffy pillows, duvet cover not a ratty bedspread, flat panel TV & nice, very clean bathrooms with big towels; halogen dimmable bedlights. Got in late the previous evening for a morning return flight to the U.S., so we didn't even eat at the hotel. Hoppa bus was easy and... more
Good 4* hotel
We stayed here the night before our flight to Florida. Arrived at 15:00, was no wait at the desk to check in, was quick and easy, booked thru Holiday Extras, paid £79.00 we had booked it well in advance and I did note that a week before you could get a room for £59.00 thu the same site, or thru laterooms.com. Room was on the 2nd floor, looked out over the roundabout, so altho not a "scenic" view, there was v little road noise and not intrusive atall (due to triple glazing). Room was good size, good decour, big comfy bed, and loved... more
Changing rooms
Not too difficult to find and the check in didn't take too long. My business partner and myself were flying out to Egypt early the next morning and were hoping for a good nights sleep, unfortunatly that wasn't the case. Upon entering my room I was hit by an overwhelming smell of damp swimming bath changing rooms, it was almost unbareable. I thought that I had better open the window but to my dismay they don't open! I went down to reception and my business partner was alreay there making his complaint. He has been given a smoking room... more
