Copthorne Hotel & Resort Effingham Park Gatwick

Stayed here for one night before our holiday,simply on the basis of the price of the parking!(£110.00 for 2 weeks). Its a rather odd building which appears to be based on a spanish villa.The reception staff were polite and helpful and we were given an upgraded room free of charge. We literally booked this hotel on the internet at the last minute because our airport taxi booking was cancelled.Large hotel in very nice grounds.Good sized clean, comfortable room.Efficient friendly reception staff.We did not use the restaurant but had a bar snack which was fine.Our car remained in the hotel grounds while we were away.No transport problems to and from the airport.We would use this hotel again as a stopover.

This hotel is ideal for a one night stopover before an early flight but I would not recommend it for anything other than that. It is a typical airport hotel eg functional but with zero character. The room was an upgraded room and was spacious and clean with plenty of hot water. The bathroom was dated and a little grubby. There was a good size balcony with lovely views. stayed here for 4 nights, Was ok, stuff is nice and they have basic breakfast not so amazing but ok to keep you for few hours. Nice area in the middle of a golf park, rooms were clean. They have a nice Jim and swimming pool too.

Got a really cheap rate online and took this hotel over onsite airport hotels. It was a bit of a false economy. Hotel is set in nice grounds. The reception area is quite nice, dated decor and carpets don't give the best impression. The room was very shabby, very dated, marked furniture and ragged carpet. This hotel was booked by my parents for the night before me and my boyfriend travelled to Barcelona. We didn’t really get to see the grounds properly as we arrived at about 7.30pm, by which point it was dark. The lobby is a very nice and check in was very quick. Our room was large in size with a good size bathroom and very clean. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the airport but you must book this in advance. A very convenient hotel if you're flying out of Gatwick. Pleasantly quiet when we stayed (Sun and Mon). Room was a double - decor a bit dated (as is usual in the UK!) but very clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly. Pool and gym basic but good to have. 'Sports Bar' prices very steep and a shame that breakfast isn't included in the price. Left car parked at the hotel while on holiday - it wasn't moved when we were away which was good. Shuttle bus service to airport was quick & on time. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay .

My husband and son stayed here on 19th April prior to a flight early the next morning. It took a while to check in and then when we got to the room, despite having booked a triple room, there was one small ( and I mean small) double bed. My daughter and I came to England to tour colleges and decided to stay close to Gatwick rather than in London. Our room was very clean, and the staff was excellent. My only complaint was using room service one morning, it was 40 minutes late because the person who took my order forgot to tell anyone. Other than this one incident, it was a pleasant week and well worth the money. I stayed at this hotel in February for one night prior to flying abroad the next morning. The negative reviews go against how I found the hotel. The room I stayed in was clean, had heating; okay maybe it was a bit tired but when you are only staying in a hotel for one night, its a bit pathetic moaning about the pattern of the wallpaper!
