What a place!
from Kelly64
This hotel has been completely refurbished during 2007 - what can I say - absolutely perfect. We booked two nights on the web but liked it so much we booked an extra night when we were there. We had a suite which consisted of a seating area with L shaped sofa (converted to an extra bed), fridge, desk and chair, flat screen tv; a bathroom with walk in shower loo, sink etc. all finished to a high spec.; bedroom with plenty of storage space and double bed (twins pushed together!). We also had a double fronted balcony overlooking the larger swimming pool with new tables and wicker chairs (not those horried white plastic things). We also had breakfast and again couldn't fault it - plenty of choice. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel and would recommend it to others.

Got a great deal for me and my 5 friends (all 18year old girls) on the Eclipse Direct Website £329 each for 2 weeks! Was a beautifully clean appartment with just enough space, there was 1 twin/double room (double but beds were seperable) with an en-suite, a twin room and the open plan living room-kitchen. A slight inconvenience was that the extra 2 bed we needed were actually the 2 sofas in the living room. But as we didn't spend that much time in the apartment, it wasn't too much of a problem and the girls didn't midn people sitting on their beds. The balcony was lovely, both the bedrooms and the living room led onto it and there was plenty of room for our numerous lilos, a table and chairs for breakfast in the sun and drying space for bikinis/towels etc. On the first day we all jumped into the first pool we saw and were quite content with it - it was Very deep and in shadow most of the time but on about the 3rd day we actually ventured a bit further and found the main pool which was gorgeous, with a "jacuzzi" - not heated water sadly!! Just bubbly water! There were plenty of sunbeds, althoguh with there being 6 of us, it was hard to find them all together. The beach was very close, just over the road and generally clean and the sand was nice. There were sunbeds you could hire but we didn't bother and just bought a lilo each to laze on. On our first shopping trip, we just ventured to the spar across the road but soon discovered it was quite expensive. We asked our rep if there was a bigger shop and luckily there was and we walked there but soon discovered it was a good 20/30minute walk and just got a taxi back. It was definitely worth it as there was a big difference in price and a lot more choice. In the evenings we generally ventured in to Belle Vue, which was a 5 minute taxi ride (the taxi rank is situated just opposite the hotel!). Here, there is a range of hotels, clubs and bars so is much livelier than around the hotel. We did eat out around the hotel and there were a number of nice reasonably priced restaurants and we're a bit ashamed to say we did eat in the Swan English pub!! It was reasonably priced and satisfied our need for a bit of fried breakfast!! Just a warning, we got henna tattoos while we were there and whilst mine was fine, my other friend's swelled up immensely - she was allergic and had to spend quite a bit of money on doctors bills and creams for it! We went on a market day trip which was well worth it, we went to Varna market in the first half of the morning then went to a shopping village the second part of the morning. I think it was 20euros for 1/2 day and was fantastic, although a lot of the stalls were a bit repetitive. And the shopping outlet village was ok but we didn't have much money to spend, great if you liek designer clothes though. Me and a friend went on the water park trip - 1/2 day at one of the Aqualands. I can't remember the name of it but we felt it was a bit of a waste of money and wasn't impressed. We got there and you actually had to either queue up for ages to get a rubber ring thing for the rides or you had to pay for one. We brought no money with us because we thought everything was paid for. And we went in september when it's not school holidays - would hate to imagine how long the normal queues are!!! There was also quite a lack of rides, better possibly for younger children? We'd been on everything within the first 1hr 1/2 and we'd had to queue etc. The "free" lunch was also discusting and consisted of a plastic type sausage in a bun and cold chips. Overall a very good holiday and great for first-time holidays - everythign was within reach and done for us. Although probably not great if you're looking for a full-on clubbing holiday!! I would definitely recommend it for families as it was not loud/lively at the resort but i think it is also suitable for younger holidays as the lively area is just a 5 minute taxi. Oh and regarding the heat, we went form 28/8/07 - 11/9/07 and we found it was still very warm - about 25 degrees so can't imagine how hot it is peak summer!!! Hope this is helpful for you!!
Never again

Had booked a 2-room apartment in the renovated part of the hotel facing the pool. When we checked in we noticed at once that we have been placed in an old worned apartment facing the main street. Down to the reception desk and complained. No reponse; we are all full booked, was the answer. Back to the room we found that there was no coffeemaker for breakfast coffee. Down again; and a few moments later we got a coffeemaker. Next morning we found that it doesn't work. Down again; and little bit later we got another. The food at the hotel is nothing to write about; so I won't. The water in the pool was ice cold. It was warmer in the sea. The only good thing about the hotel was that the beach is only 200 yards away. If I go back to Alcudia I surely choose another hotel.
Brilliant Hotel
from Littlemadams
Just got back from a lovely week at Las Gaviotas. Had a brilliant time we have two little girls aged 3 and 1 and they had a ball. Hotel was excellent. Very clean and helpful staff. On arrival our bathroom did not have a light buld and we were compensated with a free evening meal the next evening. There are two large swimming pools one main for the children which is brilliant which also has a large play area with water features. Would recommend this hotel to anyone with children. Beach is very close with some lovely restuarants nearby. Booked through First Choice whose picture in the brochure did not do this hotel any justice. Would go again. Met a lovely family whilst their but have lost their e-mail so if you read this Debbie please get in touch.
standard varied from 1 to 5 star

Booked this holiday as a quiet couple of weeks away with the kids. No English kids club at the hotel, although German/Swedish kids catered for. Two fab immaculate pools so the kids just entertained themselves. V noisy location, on very busy main road, we were initially put in room 431 at front of hotel-lovely room but couldn't sit on balcony because of noise from road and smell from Burgerking downstairs, view is Burgerking rotund sign!!!!!! Interior of room 4/5 star!! but asked to be moved as there were no self catering facilities, no view and awful smell. Staff couldn't have been nicer, moved us 3 days later and offered breakfast and evening meal as compensation, breakfast was brilliant but wouldn't recommend dinner, fab choice of restaurants within 2 mins of hotel. Once inside the complex, it's clean, very well managed, a safe fun environment and not noisy at all, in some of the walk ways there are 'silence!' signs. The reception staff, catering staff and bar staff are caring, professional, helpful and very friendly. They have a small entertainment evening in the bar most evenings ranging from Flamenco dancers to Bingo! Had towels to reserve sun beds taken off sunbeds by hotel pool attendant at 7:00am but if you go to the pool after 8:00 all the sun beds are taken!! also had inflatable boat taken, so take your inflatables with you each evening Reasonable standard of accomodation, the apartments are being upgraded to a four star 'hotel only' next year and the four star part of the hotel is really four star but the old parts are neglected as they are in the process of being replaced. Lovely hotel but very Blackpool location. V pleasent fellow holiday makers! Overall a very good holiday, booked through First Choice, their rep Claire was a fabulous help with changing our room and helping to find a chemist, trips out etc. Went to Pirates and Western world aqua park, both highly recommendable. All restaurants and supermarkets take visa, rate not amazing but v convenient.
Lovely Apartments and resort
from ilikecomfort
Just returned from the Las Gaviotas. The staff were brilliant and the resort was lovely. Had trouble getting on beach as it was very busy and lots of beds reserved and not used. Unfortunatly there was no entertainment around the pool during the day for the children. Getting a sunbed was okay up until about 9am, they were being reseved very early in the morning. This is a multi national hotel, Germans, Swedes etc. We did not have a renovated room but the standard was still good, the largest we have every stayed in. We were allocated a pool view and high floor as requested at time of booking at no extra cost. Claire the First Choice rep was very helpful and all the receptionists were very knowlegeable, friendly and helpful. Would stay at this hotel if there was more to do for the children.
best apartments I have ever stayed at.

Stayed at these apartments for a week five of us,rooms where excellent two bedrooms also air-con throughout, also very nice lounge diner with all accesories you will need. lcd tv as well, two swimming pools are spotless, food at poolside bar was very nice though quite basic ie salads and burgers .Area itself ok mind the mozzies as there is a lake in puerto alcudia and rivers that run off it all over the place.Lots of restaraunts nearby and bars .But prices a bit steep compared with greek isles,ie cheapest pint average £2.10p a pint,Beach nearby is stunning with plenty of room to sunbathe.Ate quite a lot at the nearby swan british pub nice cheap food.Staff at the apartments where very helpfull and pleasant.we travelled with first choice and the staff where fantastic.would go back to the area as the apartments cannot be faulted.

Booked a last minute deal through First Choice and stayed at Las Gaviotas in Playa de Muro. We had a studio room which could sleep 4 but it was just myself and my boyfriend. The room was really spacious and has a little kitchenette with two hobs, fridge and all necessary cutlery etc. TV (requiring a deposit for the remote control and mostly german channels), great a/c, good size balcony, dining table with chairs, microwave, coffe machine. The room was very green and had quite dated white furniture, we were expecting a more modern room (the photos we'd seen were of the renovated rooms). We rearranged the room when we arrived and took off the lime green bedspreads! The beds were odd and were more like a sofa bed but comfortable enough and clean. There was a big bathroom with a good shower, large wardrobe with safety deposit box. The hotel itself is massive with two swimming pools, kids area, but we didn't ever stay in the complex during the day. We never experinced the entertainment at night although we heard a karaoke one evening. It was quiet at night as all the shops nearby (mainly tacky gift shops) closed early. The staff we all very friendly and the maid service was good too. Playa de Muro is quiet compared to Alcudia, we took a taxi to the port a few times - the taxi rank is across the road and it cost around 5 euros. The beach was lovely and clean, we walked all the way up to the end near to the nature park where it was quiet although a little smelly! Alcudia was lively and busy, we went to Menta which is a local nightclub which has a main room and a bar with a swimming pool. It was ok but probably better for the under 21's! Overall we had a great time and very chilled, good place for couples.

We booked the hotel through First Choice and on arrival the outside looked a little aged although the inside is excellent. The apartments are very large, ours had a full size fridge freezer, toaster, microwave and kettle. Everywhers is kept very clean, including the pools, three of them, there are enough sunbeds to go around especially as this was high season. The staff cannot do enough for you and are very friendly. The beach is a two minute walk away and is very clean. The resort as you would expect for a Majorca holiday, lots of shops, bars etc If you like British pubs then try J.P.'s, excellent entertainment with a friendly welcome. All in all a great resort, hotel and holiday. The resort is Playa de Muro and not Alcudia.
Superb, Amazing, Spotless

We got this on a last minute deal & it was amazing, it is located in the Las Gaviotas area (surprise surprise) ! The staff were very friendly, the place was spotless with 2 pools - one aimed for kiddies the other for teenagers/adults with an endless amount of sun loungers with none broken. Although it's not in the bellvue area of alcudia this is well worth considering, we waited on a bus every night to go up to bellvue then realised that it was the same price for the 4 of us in a taxi (only takes a couple of minutes) with about 2 days to go. You can also see the beach from the hotel - literaly a 2 minute walk across the road. Try the italians across the road the food is brill. I can't recommend this place highly enough - even the food & drink is cheap
I was in Las Gaviotas -suites hotel last two weeks with my family. It was great! Food was veery good, there were almost everything you need! The chef cooked delicious pancakes in the morning! Everybody was so friendly too! I really enjoyed the pool and the sun... more
