Great bargain but a bit hot!
I booked to stay here for 5 nights whilst I was at the NEC, I also booked for an additional room on the 5th night as the rest of my family came up to stay to start with, it was £29 per room (that slept upto 4) per night - you just can't beat that, added to that if you bought 1 adult breakfast then upto 2 children ate for free - again, a real bargain Finding the place was not that easy as you can clearly see it but there are no directions as to where to park or get to the front of the hotel. When we did finally get to the car park... more
Clean & Comfortable
Friends booked a night at this hotel for our family of three and theirs of four. On the whole the hotel was very clean and comfortable and we were particularly impressed with the need of your room card to access the main part of the building - both lifts were working whilst we were there. The restaurant area was very small with only a few tables but the staff were more than willing for us to push two together so that we could sit as a group. The evening meal that was included in the price was actually very nice considering that it... more
Mouldy bread!
The rooms were ok and fairly clean - apart from a few stray hairs in the shower. However, breakfast was something else. There were no tables available to sit down so decided to grab some toast and go. When I picked the bread up it was mouldy. I complained to a member of staff who moved the bread, apologised and did not charge me for the nights stay. This was appreciated but even so, it should not happen. I work in the Fort Dunlop building next to the Travelodge and often hear people grumbling in the lifts about cleanliness, rude... more
A great stay with staff a credit to Travelodge
Stayed for two nights as a family of 4. Room clean and comfortable. Request for extra pillows was dealt with promptly and were delivered to our room whilst we ate our evening meal in hotel. Evening meal menu limited but convenient to eat on site. At 8.15 we seemed to miss the rush at breakfast and found there to be more than enough to eat. Children eat breakfast for free. Our room overlooked the very large car park and the Jaguar factory as well as other Depots. This caused quite a bit of noise during the night and so the window had to... more
Extremely Good Value for Money
Stayed one night prior to flying out from Birmingham airport, after paying only £25 for the two of us. It was easy to find and there is a huge car park adjacent to the hotel which has 24 hour security. You can park any where and the security person was on hand to inform us of this and direct us to the hotel entrance. The staff on reception were extremely friendly and helpful and we were processed very quickly. Our room was on the 10th floor and we were impressed to find each floor had controlled entry, the room was basic but very clean... more
Cheap & Cheerful
I stayed in the Travelodge at Birmingham Fort Dunlop on business for one night in October. The hotel is surrounded by building works, however I did not find this at all disturbing. The room was basic & very clean. It's a very new hotel - you can tell by the new carpet smell in the corridors! I paid £26 for the room for the night & for that price I had absolutely no complaints. A big plus for me was that the car park was well lit, which is important for women travelling alone. All in all an average stay in a Travelodge. Will... more
Not as bad as below
Disagree with all of the comments below, except the "still a building site" one. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast. Pub/Rest is a 2 min drive or 10 min (maximum) walk away at the nearby Holiday Inn Express. Will be a fantastic location when the Fort Dunlop redevelopment is complete
