Excellect Holiday

Feb 2009, h.christie@hotmail.co.uk

We went self catering but were offered an excellent deal on the following morning to go bed and breakfast. Food excellent, staff friendly, grounds clean, pools excellent no shortage of sun loungers. Plenty to do ie snooker, tv, pub quizes, night entertainment, crazy golf, tennis, tonnes of facilities. Boredom will not be an option. lol. Boat rides - Crazy shark boat ride well worth the money £40 for 2 people.
Shops within walking distance or by taxi cost £3 very cheap.
Excellent beaches. Alcudia Port/Harbour - excellent shops. The anicent town of Alcudia excellent markets. Have nothing that we could complain about. Went in October late and had excellent weather came back brown and had only 1 heavy rain shower which lasted approx 15 mins. Altho weather forecast for that week was thunder and lighting and rain storms, boy did they get that wrong. I got fried to a crisp. Highly recommend this holiday.

We have just returned from a week at The Lagotel Hotel.. Well like most of you we read the reports and yes thought that many of you wer moaning!! Well you were'nt...we had our room almost immidiatly. When we entered room on arrival it was very clean had 4 single beds in ( although we requested a cot ) but that wasnt a problem as one was brought up as soon as told. We were on the 3rd floor and like many have mentioned it was noisey and my partner couldnt sleep although me and our 2 girls (7) and (2) were knocked out.So other than that rooms ok... Now food breakfast was same thing as mentioned but other than that we ate it and liked the free flow of juices, tea, coffee and chocolate... Now evening meal that was decent food as the week progressd it got less n less!! could be due to end of season but even so we all paid for the food so that shouldnt of made the difference...as for drinks with eve meal we had to pay for we have gone half board with all our hols and this is the first we have known you dont have soft drinks with eve meal.Pool area nice n clean but yes very very colddddd.. and no life guard the whole time we were there. As for entertainment during the day there wasnt any really apart from the odd hours in kids club but the tots club was 13.00euros for 1 1/2 hrs the gym was smelly i mean really smelly haha the sports on site was either 5.00 euros an hr or 10.00 euros we didnt know you had to pay for that !! The evening was like as many have mentioned disco then bingo then the acts at 10pm.. the kids enjoyed the disco time so did we hehe.. now the staff was very rude esp meal times yes we agree its prob due to ill mannered brits but a smile wouldnt hurt would it ??? we saw the reps a few times nothing exciting from them although they introduced us to our best night in mallorca The pirates all we can say was wowwww what an adventure it was fantastic honestly a really good show... now that was 10/10.And would recomend it 2 you.. the beach was lovely and the long stretch of shops were basically the same in each shop blackpool style.. as may have mentioned that we r moaning and wouldnt be happy in a palace but the thing is i would of expected alot more than what we got and most of us already come from a palace so we aint going 2 go from a throne 2 a kennel now r we.. we r not all waynettas and frank gallaghers so what we pay for would be nice.. first choice need to make people aware that its basic and i think a star needs to be taken down.. will we be returning NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..

The hotel is OK. Nonetheless the location is near to a power station and in front of waste land , there are not many bars and cafes near. The courtesy bus goes to the beach in the day, the beach does not have a promenade. The bus does not opreate in the evening.
Their is a tannoy that is played daily advising guests to shower before using the pool and wear long trousers for dinner.

Power Station view. I will be has factual as possible. It is acrross from a power station and in front of waste land, which isn't very nice to walk past at night. It is 1.1km from the beach , which has no promenade, there is a courtesy bus to the beach in the day, but not in the evening. There are not many cafes and bars near and at the beginning of Septemebr they were vey quiet The old port of Alcudia and old town is lovely, but you would need transport to get there. I feel the location is not properly represented in the brochure.
This hotel is for those that like to stay in one place and orientated to families. The staff keep putting a tanoy on that said have a shower before you go in the pool and men must not wear shorts for the evening meal.

First Choice? Should be renames Last...

Sep 2008, Mr R Wright

First Choice? Should be renames Last Resort! Went to the Lagotel and I am disgusted with all the hidden charges there. You have to pay for nearly everything. Fancied a nice cuppa in the hotel room. 30 Euros to hire a kettle! Ok, so lets relax in the sauna. Broken down for the summer! Oh well, lets take the kids onto the peddle boats, guess what! Broken. Ooops! The kids have soiled their clothes. Great, there is a launderette here. Oh look, they all say OUT OF ORDER!
Well, we always had the entertainment for our 18 month to look forward too. Shame it did not start until 10pm, when it's past their bedtime. So lots of overtired children screaming because the entertainment starts so late. By the way, pack your own hairdryer as they charge 12 Euros to hire one, oh an i almost forgot, you need to give them 3 days notice for this. There is no Wi-Fi as it states in the brochure, so they have their own internet booth. Only 1 Euro for 10 Minuites. It is a shame that it is 10 times slower than dial up so by the time you even get onto your e-mail homepage, 4 minuites have passed already. Will not go to this hotel again.!

After reading the reviews from others i'm wondering if we stayed at the same hotel!
We found the Lagotel to be dirty and smelly.
Our room on the 2nd floor, which had a nice view overlooking the lake, was damp and dirty (and had ANTS). The bathroom smelled like a urinal. We knew a maid had been in because she turned the a/c off, otherwise we wouldn't have known!
The food was poor, cold and dried out and i couldn't quite make out what some of it was! (And the dining hall had ANTS).
The entertainment area was dirty, had sticky tables and had flies (and ANTS). The entertainment was awful and we could only manage to stay for an hour or so before heading for Alcudia for a bit of life (without ANTS).
The pools were nice, especially the salt water pools over the road. The food was ok but it was cooked, left in a pot covered with foil then reheated when an order was placed. There was no problems getting a sunbed as they don't open the gates until 10am for the people (and ANTS) to claim their sunbeds.
The kids seemed to enjoy the pool table, air hockey and table tennis. I enjoyed watching until i was bitten on the foot (by an ANT).
There was some good points though.... the staff were nice, especially Marty in reception. We had a sing song together but all in all disappointing holiday so we are very ANTi Lagotel !!!

What a fantastic holiday we had at...

Sep 2008, Mr P Hindle

What a fantastic holiday we had at the Lagotel. Don't hesitate to book if you're thinking about a break there. I'm amazed what people find to complain about as there was really nothing to be negative about at all. There is plenty to do for all ages, but you can also get away from it all too. First Choice have their usual clubs for the kids (ours are 11 and 9) which offered interesting activities (trips to the beach and maze etc). The hotel also has its own Animacion team... Sarah, Fabian and Jose... who are excellent, really good fun. These three run a variety of activities for adults, four times a day, all week. You can try archery, pistol or rifle shooting, water polo, water volleyball, football, various cocktail games (win a free cocktail!!), killer pool, killer darts, table tennis. The evening entertainment programme was also surprisingly decent. Food is terrific... buffet breakfast and evening meal. Loads of choice, plenty of variety, something for all tastes. Breakfast (full English available) is 8am until 10.30am and evening meal 6.30pm until 9pm. Hotel is clean, spacious, there was room around the pool even at the busiest times. Rooms are comfortable, air con is quiet and a blessing. We had pool view, so could hear the entertainment which runs until midnight, but could still sleep on the rare occasion we had an early night. If you want a quieter room, we would suggest lake view on the other side of the hotel. After staying for all the entertainment, we would get up about 9.15am and still be in time for breakfast and then to get a decent spot by the pool. The pool doesn't open until 10am to stop all the saving of sunbeds with towels. Big screens in the bar have Sky Sports and the place was mainly populated by Brits and Irish. BBC1, 2 &3 are available in the rooms for those missing home. Beach is a 10min walk (past Burger King) and is beautiful. Can go out a long way in sea. Would definitely go back to this hotel and envy anyone about to jet out. You'll have a great time!

I have just returned from a week at this fantastic hotel where I stayed with my 6yr old daughter and my mum!. The staff were really friendly, the animation team, Sarah Fabien and Jose were brill. The food was excellant with a wide choice everynight and I can't fault anything they served.
My daughter had a great time and really enjoyed the First Choice run kids club. The kids reps were great and the kids were signed in and out so you could relax that they were safe and well looked after.
We had a room over looking pool on the 1st floor and had a great view of the stage which was great when my daughter wanted an early night.
We didn't use the free bus into the beach but plenty did. We walked the 10 mintues to the beach and it was lovely but we mainly stayed by the pool of which there were 6 spread over 2 locations. 3 interlinking pools on the hotel site and 3 more sal****er pools across the road. All were clean with plenty of sunbeds and a snack bar at each that served great food.
Only down side to the trip was the mossies...... I hadn't read any reviews before we went so I didn't take any repellant?! Still this said I only got bit 5 times so that not too bad but I will definately take some with me next time.
This is a great family hotel that I have no hestiation in recommending but should probably be avoided by anyone who wants a quite time especially during school holidays?! But if you have kids and want a great holiday then book now.......

We had a delightful stay at the hotel...

Sep 2008, Mrs DT Turnbull

We had a delightful stay at the hotel as there was lots to do for the younger children (up to 13) however, there was little to do for any children over this age. There were various activities such as football, fun and games, riffle shooting and many more! The food was lovely as you have a different choice everyday! Rooms are kept clean as a cleaner attends the room every day (exc. Sundays) which includes fresh cleaned beds, new towels and mopped floor! But do be aware of getting bittern.... we brang all the repellent and only seemed to get a few bites! The local shop is around 2 miles away (10 min walk) and the beach is beautiful, with clear water and golden sand! Food and drink in the hotel is expensive but we found the breakfast and dinner was enough to eat throughout the day. There are 6 pools, 3 salt & 3 chlorine, which are also kept clean and surround the food bars. Haven read the other reviews about children hanging around the lobby, I can understand why as there is little to do to amuse them!
Would I go there again? ... Yes, Maybe, with my grandchildren!

Just arrived back for a great Holiday...
9 / 10
Sep 2008, Mrs S Knowles

Just arrived back for a great Holiday at Lagotel. My husband and I, our two children aged 12 and 7 and my In-laws all went together. I was wondering how we would manage to find the perfect place for three differant generations...No worries!
This place was perfect! The pools were nice, but the Sea was so safe and shallow, with hardly a ripple, let alone a wave. The perfect (and safe) beach for all of us. We chose to use the beach more than the pool (there were lots of ants around the poolside).
The food at the hotel was fine with variety for every taste (we ate out a lot too, but out of choice not because there was anything wrong with the hotel food). The entertainment was O.K, it was a little loud and went on until midnight (this is my only real grumble). We went on a couple of excursions. The orange blossom trail was lovely but was maybe one bus-ride to much by the end of the day. Pirates was great fun and highly reccomended.
First choice were great, I heard that the kids club was very good although I didn't use it myself. Only complaint is that there was no rep to greet us but checking in was easy, so no problems.
The hotel is well situated, not too far from the beach and local shops, the lack of taxis was a bit of a problem but we walked everywhere and found it a pleasant walk.
The appartments were spacious and clean, with lovely balconies and everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The staff were friendly and polite. I felt it a perfect place for families and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Mallorca. We saw no drunk or bad behaviour and once the musice stopped at midnight we had no trouble with noise.
