The ideal location and large room size is perfect but what could be a good hotel is wrecked by non-existent house-keeping and reception staff apparently proud of how much they hate their guests. Our room was like a foul museum of human hair. Or maybe not human - a sign in reception says they welcome dogs. Get the traditional breakfast at the wetherspoons pub just down the road - its a bargain.

Just got back from staying overnight at the travelodge. Took advantage of the £26 deal they are advertising on their website at the moment. I really enjoyed my stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean (nice and big) and it was in an ideal location. Very quiet too. I would recommend it without a doubt.

the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Booked it because it was central. Wish I hadn't. Agree with all the negative points in the other reviews. go somewhere else
Noisy and basic

Stayed for one noisy Friday night. I would not recommend people to stay at weekends who are not going clubbing! I didnt get in until 2am, and the noise from Broad St still kept me awake for an hour or so. Room was a very sparse, overall not as nice as other city centre chain hotels.
Good vale and location

Managed to get a good advance deal for £26 on their web site. The room was clean, basic but reasonably spacious. It's located on Broad Street, which is central and fairly lively.As I stayed on a Monday night it was pretty quiet. Check in though was unbelievably slow. It took about 15 minutes for the two groups in front of me to be dealt with - you wold think they'd have got the hang of this by now. But for £26 I would stay here again for sure.

I got a web deal - £26 for a twin ensuite room. It was a good sized comfortable room. I stayed on a friday night and could hear noise from the clubs in Broad St - if this bothers you take your earplugs. The only option for breakfast was a bag with cereal bar juice etc for £4.
Good Value Hotel

We stayed at the Travelodge Birmingham Central in downtown Birminhgam for one night in August 2004. We booked about 10 days in advance under their 25 pound a night deal for a family room. The room was clean, very nice with a very good queen/king bed for us and a hipno bed that pulls out into two separate twin mattresses/beds which the kids really liked. Location was good and it was not noisy as we were there on a week night. Would definitely recommend for the budget-conscious travelling with children.

Stayed here for 1 night on the weekend in June 2007. As for prices its quite competitive in comparison to other hotels nearby, but the food (breakfast) I feel was overpriced, so eat out. However its location is excellent if you are looking to stay around the city centre... more
