I would recommend the Balcon del Mar to anyone who wants spacious clean apartments and a friendly atmosphere. We have stayed so often at Balcon del Mar that it feels like our second home.
The reception staff and cleaners are lovely and Jason and Rachel who run the pool bar always make everyone feel so welcome.

A Grande Week
Just got back from the Balcon del mar and have had to sit and say what a great week we had. Myself my husband and my mum stayed for one week and it was not long enough. The whole resort although basic is very very clean. The pool bar serves the best sausages on the island, and what makes them extra special they are cooked lovingly (every time) by Jason co-host of the on site pool bar. The other side of the double act is Rachel, who is so pleasant and kind we even had extra treats of cake and chocolate. Thank you to all we met, especially Jason and Rachel who made a rather basic week very very special. Oh yes and the weather was great too! If you are planning a visit then please say hi for us. See you all soon Andrew, Rachel and Jenny.
Loved it!!
Just got back from a relaxing stay at the Balcon Del Mar apartments in Lanzarote and we had a lovely time. I have to say that the apartments were a little basic for our liking but couldn't really expect much more when we got it for such a fantastic price. They have just finished tiling the main pool area and it looks clean and bright. The poolside bar was fantastic. Jason and Rachel really made us feel welcome although I do blame them for turning my husband and I into alcaholics!! (Only joking). Try a Zombie cocktail it is delicious. The bar is really clean and the food was delicious. Try one of Jason's breakfasts it will set you up for the day. I have to say that the poolside bar made our holiday but the restaurants and bars in the old town were really lovely. El Ancla does fantastic food but if you want a nice romantic meal then try Puerto Bahia. It has lovely food and the best views. If you are staying at the Balcon Del Mar apartments then be prepared for a hilly walk every night. All in all a very relaxing holiday but if you are going at the end of April / beginning of May be sure to take a coat as it is chilly at night. It has something for everyone!!
a home away from home
Hi every1,Well it was first time in lanzarote and a memorable one.It won't be our last time there anyway.myself and the boyfriend went away for a week and it was fantastic. When we arrived to our apartment it was immaculate and it stayed like that for the whole week, even one morning when i managed a big sleep-in ,well it was actually afternoon when i woke but they still managed to come in later on and clean up.At first when we arrived we thought the pool bar was closed cause the top pool was under construction and there was red tape around it but we soon realised it wasn't and we got the warmest welcome from the new owners "Jason and Rachel" with their "Lyons teabegs" and a breakfast that woul kill a horse a lolvely runny egg. They recommended plenty of places for us to eat and drink and they never steered us wrong. The apartments are situated in exactly the right place with plenty of irish bars at the bottom of the hill so the hill never seemed that bad after a few beers!!!!!!!All the pubs had live music and if you still want a bit of craic afterwards we went to "Dicey Reilly's".If ya like your steak "Bodega" is the place to go right at the bottom of the hill.
fabulous

Great holiday
Great holiday at the balcon del mar apartments, complex and apartments very clean two pools great for cooling down or go to the pool bar which is under the new management of Jason and Rachel who are very friendly people, great service and great food i know thats alot of great but hey thats what i think, they have enterainment for everyone and a little something too keep the kids amused for awhile. All in all the makings of a great holiday. And there is plenty of good restarunts close by if your not in to walking far.
Bueno Balcon Del Mar
Just returned from our 9th. visit to Puerto Del Carmen and the 2nd. time to the Balcon Del Mar. Although basic, the apartments have everything you need for an enjoyable stay and are kept spotlessly clean by the attentive maids. Towels are changed three times a week with maid service five days. The friendly reception staff will do anything to help you. The apartments are set on a hill therefore may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties, although taxis are very cheap. The location is ideal for all the lovely bars and restaurants in the "old town" A big plus for us on this visit were the new owners of the Pool Bar. Jason and Rachel are a lovely, young, friendly couple who make everyone most welcome (including children) Drinks are lovely and very reasonably priced. They serve delicious bar snacks during the day and can always be found cleaning. I kid you not you could eat your food off the floor!!! I could not enter this bar on our last visit due to the previous owners poor hygeine habits!!!! Do pay them a visit and tell them that Pete and Sue say Hello. For a decent night out with entertainment try The Tartan Teddy you will not be disappointed.
Excellent Holiday!
Excellent accommodation - was not expecting much as it was only rated 2 star but it was perfect! Extremely clean and tidy, the maid service is 5 times a week and the towels were changed 3 times a week. We had a 2 bed apartment and it was really big with lots of storage space. The school out the front can be a bit noisy but my children loved watching them out the window to see what they were doing, and children playing and laughing is never a horrendously, unpleasant noise! The only other noise we encountered was our first 2 nights, some Spanish teenagers had rented out about 3 apartments and they played their music really loud until about 3am. We were glad when they left! The pool area is lovely but by mid-week we had to have a 'if you can't beat them, join them' attitude and put our towels down on the loungers in the morning, otherwise we would never have got to sit by it! Some people leave their towels out and then don't turn up to the pool until 3pm which is a bit annoying but you're going to get that with most resorts. The bar is now under new management and it is fantastic! Rachel and Jason do a wonderful job, serving lovely snacks and drinks with incredibly friendly service. Would definitely suggest a bite to eat here when having a day by the pool. It's only a 5 minute walk to the harbour (down a very steep hill) and we spent most of our time here as the restaurants are amazing and it's not as commercial as it is in the main strip. Scotch corner is down here and they serve a great English Breakfast which really keeps you going! The beach I would recommend is Playa Chico - it is near the old town, as opposed to the huge beach opposite the main strip. Here you can snorkel, dive and swim or just sit on the sand looking out to Fuerteventura. There is a supermarket down the hill called Hiper Dino and it sells all the basics plus the wine is really cheap and good quality! All in all, I would definitely recommend Balcon Del Mar and if you're going to book a 2 star apartment, don't expect the Ritz!
loads better than 2*
Just back from a week at the Balcon del Mar and it was excellent value for money. The apartments are large and spacious and very clean. They are ideally located for the old town harbour where there are some lovely bars and restaurants and so what if you have to walk back up a hill after a night out, the exercise does you good. Try and find La Chalana if you want something typically Spanish, it is simply the best value food there is (it is opposite the Portonovo apartments). We have going been to the old town of Puerto del Carmen for eight years and this is one of the better apartments we have stayed at and will certainly be going back.
Absolutely fine!
Just wanted to post a review as I find this website ever so helpful when booking holidays and wanting to check out what places are really like! We (my boyfriend and I, late twenties) had a week in March and would echo what other people have said which is the apartments are huge and definately spotlesly clean. They change your towels very often too. The bedspreads are old and the covers on the settee's are worn and if they updated these then these apartments would def grade much, much higher. I really liked the bathroom which was big and had a cool walk in shower with glass bricks down one side. The pool I thought was clean although we didn't actually get in it apart from dangly our legs in it as the weather, although warm, wasn't really hot enough for a dip. We sunbathed round the pool and in the height of summer I can imagine there wouldn't be enough sunbeds and it would be handy if they did have umbrellas. When we were there the pool bar was open but only for drinks and I had read about the lovely food they had served there from other reviews so we were a bit dissapointed that we couldn't purchase any food. Our apartment was by the road but facing over the sea and there is a school across the road which was a bit noisy in the morning. I'm glad we were in the higher apartments (18) as the apartments below did seem to have cats wandering around which is fine if you don't mind them but my boyfriend hates them! They are not scraggy wild cats but look like thay are well looked after so if you are a cat lover then go ahead. These apartments are at the top of a steep hill but it doesn't take "too long" to walk down to te lovely harbour where the restaurants are lovely and look out over the sea. I would recommend these apartments and I personally would go back although would be happier if they updated the bedcovers, got rid of the cats and moved the apartments a little further down the hill.
no problems
hi all just returned from a week at the balcon del mar lanzarote.we had a great week .fab weather and decent apts.they are in the old town at the top of very steep hill.apts are big with good size balcony and a pool which is deep and a poolside bar.staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned every day.we had apt beside road which at times was a little noisy but no real problems.there are a few cats around but if you dont bother with them they wont bother with you.two supermarkets 2 mins walk and old town 5 min walk with good restaurants and pubs.personaly recommend el ancla at the harbour for fine food and the heineken bar just beside it for drink.im from dublin and wouldn go near some of the irish bars rip off.if i wanted to go to irish bars i would of stayed at home try any of the bars amazing variations in prices and service.overall i been to lanzarote few times and like the resort and as for the balcon del mar apts sound no problems .
