The hotel is steeped in history and has had some illustrious visitors over the last two centuries, from Royals to Norman Wisdom. At some point, presumably not that many years ago, the hotel became too expensive to run in such splendour and was taken over by Travelodge.... more

No car park. Breakfast was some mush in a bag. Fortunately they ran out and we got a refund for that and got a far better deal from Weatherspoon's pub just over the road! There was no indication beforehand that there were no proper arrangements for either parking of... more

Paid £15 for this room on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. Having stayed at the Macdonald hotel the night before for £55. Arriving with a baby and child, I was quite apprehensive about the noise, with the hotel being on the high street and a bar underneath.... more

Fabulous - best Travelodge ever!
My partner and I stayed for one Saturday night here just for a short weekend visit to Leamington Spa. The location of the hotel is faultless - right in the middle of the town and within easy walking distance to just about anything. The building is beautiful, as has been previously mentioned. Our room was at the end of a corridor so had no 'passing traffic' and was very quiet, clean and comfortable. We found some street parking just around the corner which was free from 5pm Saturday until 9am Monday, so perfect for us. For breakfast, we went across the road to 'The Benjamin Satchwell', a Wetherspoon pub. We paid £26 for the night which was a proper bargain and we would not hesitate to stay again.
Good for a Travelodge
So Travelodge's aren't particularly known for their high standards but we had a pleasant stay here. The location is superb, right in the heart of Leamington Spa on The Parade, walking distance to all shops, bars, restaurants etc. A lovely old building with grand staircases and huge vaulted ceilings. The rooms were clean and spacious, a few things missing like a Hairdryer, a Toilet Brush (?!) and a Bathmat. They also only provide one towel (even though it was a double room), but you can request extras from reception. At £69.00 it was a little over-priced, but the location just about made it worth the money. I would recommend a visit to the Bar & Grill situated within the building, very modern and elegant and nice merlot!
The best Travelodge I've ever stayed in......
In a lovely old hotel building, has basic fixtures as every travel lodge but the building itself is lovely. Big sweeping staircase which made you feel like you should be wearing a ballgown (although that would've just looked odd in a Travelodge - lol!) Right in the town centre - great restaurant just opened next door - a little expensive £25 a head inc wine but there's a Wetherspoons right opposite and zizi's just down the road. Only two negatives are that there is no onsite parking (although when we got there at 6pm there was plenty of on street parking for free (hotel on your left - keep going and take the second left) and also no restaurant for breakfast. But for £26 this was an absolute bargain.
Some problems
Read the reviews and thought, nice hotel that will do for a two night break. On arrival we were offered the opportunity to order 'breakfast bags'. On enquiring what these were we were told they were bags with breakfast in as there was nowhere in the hotel to eat breakfast! Further enquiries then revealed that the hotel had no restaurant in at all. We were told that there were plenty of places in Leamington Spa to buy breakfast. I was amazed that in a nice hotel, in a real tourist area that a hotel in this day and age has nowhere for customers to have breakfast. Had I known this then I would not have booked. It certainly does not make it clear on the website. Also there is NO PARKING at the hotel and you have to either find a space nearby or go to a pay and displa, all a bit awkward really. However the family room, number 113, was very spacious (albeit a bit noisy from overlooking the road). Leamington Spa itself is nice with a good range of shops but we visited Stratford on Avon and much prefered it. If you do go and need breakfast we found a nice little place just around the corner from the hotel Cafe Corleore, which serves good food and a nice breakfast. Try Oscars for an evening meal. On Tuesdays it serves a 3 course meal for £12.95. All in all we would not go there again as there were too many inconveniences. I suggest you go to Stratford and have a day trip to Leamington instead.
A great Travelodge!
Stayed at this hotel at the weekend having booked over the Internet at £26 per night! Excellent location - right opposite a Weatherspoons! Leamington Spa is a good shopping centre with the lovely Jephson Gardens to walk around. We visited Warwick Castle on the Saturday which was only about 4 miles from the hotel. Enjoyed an excellent meal at the Newbold Bar and Brasserie. Would definitely return to this hotel.
Very nice
This place is not your normal travelodge. It is very nice and roomy, apparently recently renovated. I didn't give it 5 stars because there is NO PARKING. That's right, no parking, you can drive around the corner and park on the street, or pay to park in secure parking. We arrived Friday night, so parking was sparse, but the car was there the next day. Also, the nice lady at the counter was unable to provide extra pillows, out of 7 travelodges I stayed at the only one to refuse me extra pillows. If I could go back in time, I would not have stayed here. I stayed here with wife and two kids aged 9 & 10. Make sure you book at least 21 days in advance and you can get in for as little as 10 pounds!! Use the ---- site to get supersaver deals.
wow best travellodge ever visited!!!not your normal !!
this is such a lovely travellodge big white house bang in the middle of leamington its ideal.Gorgeous tall ceilings and big staircases. Its great value if you book in advance too.Try zizzis next door for some great food!but you might need to book it gets busy on a weekend.
a bargain of a hotel
Unlike your previous reviewer, we did actually stay at this hotel! We were impressed with the central location and the cleanliness of the whole hotel. The reception area was not a problem, clean and efficient[who wants to spend their holiday at the front desk!] The rooms were well equipped and spacious, the bathroom was large and modern. we had plenty of hot water at all times of the day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, very good value for money.
The Best Travelodge?
This must be the best lodge type hotel in England, with it's classic staircases etc. Right in the town and near to a massive range of places to eat and drink (including the "Bar and Grill" in the same building).
Cheap looking, staff not helpful
I did not actually stayed in the hotel. But I was planning to book it for a group of people visiting our business. After reading some of the reviews on this website, I visited the hotel to check whether some of the negative comments are actually true. Hotel in general is in good location and is very close to pretty much anything of interest in Royal Leamington Spa. It has just been refurbished and looks very good from outside But as soon as you step in, the hotel feels "cheap". Quality of decor is quite poor and interior is very basic. The hotel reception is on the side of the building and is very small and very plain - I even did not even think that I actually was in the hotel reception, until I was told so by a member of staff. According to receptionist, rooms are quite large (can sleep 3-4) and prices are quite low. But when I mentioned that hotel has many negative reviews on this website and asked to show me a room before I would place a booking, my request has been denied - not enough staff to take people around they said I decided to walk away and find better hotel
