Bar and lounge staff very poor command of English language. Do not understand drinks and do no bring all of food when ordered. You almost have to do their jobs for them. Watch out for being overcharged on final bill. I was by £72 this was on accomodation charges and an... more

Excellent restaurant
Stayed on a Saturday night as party of 7. Friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel. This is a large hotel and was full nevertheless this caused no probems. On entering the restaurant for dinner all guests were advised that breakfast the following morning was likely to be busy between 9 and 10 and therefore suggesting to avoid these times. Also an express checkout facility was made available (bill under door during night). Our room was of average size and in the newer part of the hotel. It was very clean, nicely decorated with plenty of lights. The bathroom was clean, bright with nice fittings and shower. Very comfortable. The restaurant deserves special mention. We booked a table for 7 and despite being very busy the service was outstanding. Food was very good as was the wine list, on par with a decent restaurant. Food and wine were sensibly priced - not cheap but not ridiculous. At breakfast we requested a table for 7 and this was no problem. Breakfast buffet was extensive and of good quality. Service again very good. Overall a good experience. We have stayed in several hotels in the area, this is certainly among the best.

A Very Relaxing Weekend!
I stayed here with 9 other members of my family, for a family reunion. The weather was dreadful so we stayed in for most of the time we were at the hotel. We were worried this would be boring or that we'd have problems pleasing all of us, and accomodating the youngest member of our party who is only 2! We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The rooms were spacious, modern, clean and full of the latest gadgets and amenities to keep us all happy. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Some of our party had to leave the restaurant as the 2 year old was hyper so they sat in the bar. The lovely waiters went into the bar to take their orders and delivered the food as if they were in the restaurant with us which was lovely. I loved the pool and even had an excellent back massage in the beauty treatment room. A good hotel for a family break, especially for children.
Good for the money
Wanted somwhere near Birmingham to have a night away from the kids without having to drive miles or break the bank. Chesford Grange seemed to fit the bill from the reviews and I wasn't dissapointed. Got the room for £90 and was upgraded to a larger double for nothing. Check in was excellent and an offer to carry your bags to the room seems like their standard way. Room was excellent, clean and suprisingly quiet considering the office Christmas bash and 30th birthday party going on downstairs. Went down to the leisure club had everything that you needed. Pool although quite small was adequate, good gym facilities and a variety of treatments available from the beauty section. Can't comment on the evening meal as we went into Kenilworth. However for the £10 cost of a roundtrip in a a taxi (5 minutes after being ordered by reception) I would make the effort to visit Simply Simpsons. Fantastic meal and wine. Breakfast was excellent with the staff keeping the various buffet options filled like busy ants. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the night and will be using it for a regular break away.
Very Impressed,
Booked a room with Laterooms.com for 1 night in December (£110 advance booking for a deluxe room inc breakfast), a treat for my boyfriend. Getting there was easy and there were alot of parking spaces available. Check in was quick and it was very nice to be asked if we needed help with our luggage. The room was very spacious, decor was modern and "green". Bathroom was clean, bright and big. No disappointments. In the Deluxe room, you get a plasma, electronically adjustable beds, air con, iron and ironing board, toiletries, mini fridge with water and milk, coffee/tea making facilities and also a nice fluffy robe. I asked reception to bring another robe to our room because there were 2 of us staying and they brought it round straight away. We had dinner at the River Room, the service was ok. Food however was average, at the prices they were charging, I expected better quality and bigger portions. Breakfast was great though, service was quick. There is a hot breakfast buffet and also cereal and pasteries available. It was a shame that we got to breakfast abit late (9.30am) so I couldn't order eggs benedict from the breakfast menu. I would definitely recommend this hotel, big thumbs up
Good hotel
I stay at Chesford Grange once a week due to having business commitments in the area. The hotel has recently been renovated and hence I would say this is a 'good' four star hotel. All rooms I have stayed in have been well furnished, clean and modern in style. Most importantly, the beds are comfortable. In standard rooms however, you get a fan but no air conditioning, and there is no iron in the room (but is available on request). In the deluxe rooms you will get air con, large flat screen TV, large electrically adjustable bed, iron and ironing board and improved refreshments / toiletries etc. The deluxe rooms are also larger and the hotel seems to have spent a bit more money on decorating the rooms. Breakfast is excellent and dinner is pretty good, although the dinner menu is limited and can get a little boring if you eat there every week! General public areas are nice, and the service has typically been very friendly and helpful. Gym is pretty good by hotel standards (which are generally poor!) - it has free weights and benches, plenty of resistance equipment, a couple of ergos, runners, bikes and other cardio machines. They also provide a nice pool, sauna, steam and jacuzzi. The hotel is out of the way so I'd recommend choosing it if you have access to a car.
Hot water problems
Stayed for 6 nights on business. Hotel generally up to standard with very good leisure facilities and gardens. Spoiled by inefficient hot water supply. When I reported it to reception I was told to run wash hand basin, shower and bath taps simultaneously until water heated. I had to do this for fully 5 minutes each time for the remainder of my stay. Most colleagues encountered similar problems. Not exactly eco friendly.
Wonderful weekend
We had a wonderful weekend at the end of August. Room was clean and comfortable. Our offer was book one night and get one night free with dinner on the forst night included. The food was wonderful. Breakfast buffee was very good with lots of choice. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Two days after I returned home I realised that I'd left a small jewellery box with some diamond earings in it in the bedside drawer. I phoned and spoke to the housekeeper, she searched the room and I received the box in the post the next day. What service!! Would definately visit again.
Great hotel but pricey!
We (my missus and I) had a two night stay, Friday 4th August to Sunday 6th August 2006. The overall experience was very good but I will pre-warn potential visitors...there is a fine line between value for money and being ripped off. I'm referring to the food and drink prices. The food and drink prices are high and there is barely enough food to taste, (see pic of bowl of chips that cost £2). The prices are not at all reasonable, £12 for a cheeseburger, £22 for an 8oz sirolon steak or £16 for a chicken korma with rice are examples of what to expect should you stay at this hotel and order food in the bar or via room service for which there is an addition charge. Despite the price, the food was well presented and of a good quality. We stayed in a Premium Room on the 4th floor. It was excellent, the decor was modern and the 42" plasma was a welcome addition to the room. The mini-fridge contained two small bottles of water, nothing more which was disappointing. The bathroom was also fine, a very good size with a more than adequate power shower whilst shampoo's etc were plentiful. We had no problem with the air con, an individial climate control can be found in the room and is straight forward and easy to use. The gymnasium was impressive. The equipment was all upto date state of the art. No faults could be found here, very impressive as was the steamroom and jacuzzi. (Works on a seven minute cycle). The pool was small but was more than adequate. Ther service from the hotel staff was exceptional, no complaints whatsover. I do recommed this hotel, but make sure you take plenty of ££££ or have room on your plastic if you want to indulge and satisfy your taste buds.
Generally poor
We attended a wedding at the hotel, which was great. Sadly our experience of the room and service was not. The main problem was that our shower provided no cold water at all. Staff said they would organise for it to be looked at, but nothing happened. They could not find a different shower for us to use. They sort of apologised at check-out, but could not organise a discount or shower for us to use before leaving. £78, with no running water-hardly a bargain... Incidentally, do not go here looking for a country manor experience-there is a nice old part to the hotel, but a bland red-brick travelodge type extension is the mainstay.
