Ivory Playa Apartments Reviews
" My family and I have been holidaying... "
Submitted By: Mrs M Nolan
My family and I have been holidaying in the Ivory Playa since 1994 - Our first holiday was with myself and my two daughters and a group of my friends, we returned en famile in 1995 ( 3 daughters aged 10,15 & 19). Since then we have returned in various groups - pretty much each year e.g. the whole family, my daughters and their partners and with friends. We are yet again returning this year with my daughters and grandson. Having spent holidays abroad we have never found a more hospitable location than the Ivory Playa - the staff are friendly and courteous both to adults and children. In 2003 our grandson Adam became ill and the support we received from the staff was second to none, even bringing food to our room. The apartments are exceptionally clean. We book directly with the hotel and arrange our own flights. We usually eat at the poolside bar at lunchtime, and visit the various restaurants on the strip on the left as you leave the hotel. I would strongly recommend the Albuferia Restaurant on the right hand side of the road or Las Delicias on the left hand side. I would also highly recommend the Ivory Playa and the resort of Alcudia for a family holiday regardless of the ages of children.

We absolutely enjoyed this holiday so much, our two weeks went too fast! The apartment was situated 50m from the gorgeous beach with its white sand and turquoise waters which could be reached by a side door from the pool bar.The reception area was very welcoming and on arrival the staff were very friendly and efficient on booking us in. The apartment itself was very well equipped with a toaster, kettle, microwave and two cooking rings for people who wanted to eat in. The bedroom was a good size and it is recommended that you request a pool/garden view as this is much nicer than a view of the road. The cleanliness of the apartment in general was excellent and the cleaning staff did their job very well and were friendly too! The entertainment was very good with a lot of activities during the day for kids up to adults and shows at night, the entertainers were also very nice and good with kids and adults alike. The pool was a nice size and was cleaned every morning, the gardens were very well kept and there were also games provided like pool, snooker, table tennis etc. You could eat in the pool bar during the day or the restaurant or buffet at night. You could also go down town to the many bars and restaurants that were nearby. The main town of Acudia is a ten minute walk to the right as you come out of the apartment and here you have more shops, bars and restaurants. Alcudia also has one of Europe's biggest water parks which is in Magaluf and a must see are the caves of the dragon {Cueves Del Drach in Spanish}. Overall, it was a fantastic holiday and even though it's a 3 star it definitely deserves 4. Would go back there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing yet fun filled holiday!

Just returned from ivory playa apartments with a 22 month old child. Had every facility for children... lovely playgrounds, kiddies pool in a sheltered area, kids clubs. nightly entertainment. Ate lunch at the pool bar a few times and although a little pricey, very tastey. Apartments practically kitted out and supermakret across the road is perfect. reception staff friendly and helpful at all times. Would definitely recommend here if you have kids, like to be near a lovely beach and don't mind walking a little to get to selection of restaurants.

I have being to the Ivory playa six times and each time I have had I great holiday. It is great to go somewhere and to be greeted by the staff like old friends.
Rooms are very well maintained and cleaned every day except Wednesday. Pool area is kept very clean. There is also a great pool bar for daytime and evening food at great prices. Needless to say I have already booked for three weeks next year. It says a lot about a place when you see the same holiday makers returning year after year as we have done.
I forgot to mention that as well as myself and my husband who love this place, my four kids do as well. So go on and give it a shot you won’t be disappointed.

We had a fantastic holiday at the Ivory Playa. It was our son's (age 7) first holiday abroad so we wanted it to be a good one and the hotel didn't let us down. It was the first time we'd booked it all ourselves, we flew with Easyjet who were great and got straight into a taxi at the airport, no need to prebook loads in the rank just outside. We booked the hotel direct on a recommendation from a friend who'd stayed there previously.
We had an apartment overlooking the pool and the sea (in the distance). Our apartment was a good size and the beds were comfortable. The balcony was off our bedroom which was handy if our son needed to go to bed early as we could still sit out and watch the entertainment which took place just below our balcony.
We were on the third floor so it wasn't too noisy. Most nights we didn't go to bed until the entertainment was over anyway, even our son got used to having a siester in the afternoon so that he could stay up late.
The entertainment staff were fantastic and worked really hard to keep everyone happy. The shows were more geared towards children that adults but it was all good fun.
During the day there was a mini club for the kids which involved an activity in the morning and another in the afternoon. It ranged from T-Shirt Painting & Sand pictures to Pony Riding and a trip to the Maze. It gave us a couple of hours break and our son loved getting together with the other children and having fun and it was free. There was also fun activities for adults too during the day, we did archery and darts neither were serious and only a bit of fun but a good opportunity to meet fellow holidaymakers.
The Breakfast was buffet style catering for English and Continental clientele.
The Hotel is in a good location not overly busy but has everything you need. The most gorgeous tree lined sandy beach is only a very short walk down a side street. The sea is a beautiful aqua blue and very clear and warm. It is shallow for a long way out which is perfect for kids. We actually only got to the beach on a few days as it was so nice to relax by the pool.
There is a Spar next to the Hotel but be warned this is expensive, it is better to go to the larger supermarket just across the road.
If you turn left when you come out of the Hotel and walk for a short distance you will hit the Bars and Restaurant's (there's not much to the right unless you want a long walk) They are varied in price and quality so you can do cheap and chearful or something a little more special. Our favourite was down by the beach overlooking he sea.
You can hire a car very cheaply from just up the road from the hotel and arrange to leave it at the airport on your departure which saves on the taxi fare and works out very cost effective. There is also a bus stop just outside.
Most of the staff in the Hotel speak excellent English and all were very friendly and helpful.
The only thing that was a little disappointing was that there were not many English at this hotel (although loads in the resort) The Ivory Playa deals mainly with Irish and Germans, apparently it used to be with Thompson but not in 2005.
We also had a problem with my son being stung by a Spider Fish in the sea and needing urgent Doctor's attention. Apparently this is quite rare but if it happens it's very painful. The Hotel directed us to a Doctors over the road where we had to carry my son screaming all the way only to find that it was closed. We ran back to the Hotel in full mid day heat and got reception to phone a doctor.
We waited in our room and he arrived not long after (although it seemed like forever at the time) He was fantastic, very good with children, he knew what the problem was straight away and gave an injection that froze the foot and gave immediate relief. Our son was back in the pool two hours later!! We had to pay him direct for this service, it cost about £40.00. As he was a private doctor rather than their equivalent of the NHS we couldn't claim this on our insurance.
This event could have happened no matter where we were staying in the resort so is in no way a reflection on the hotel.
A way to avoid this is to wear rubber soled swim shoes in the sea which we did for the remainder of the holiday.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel but make sure your room is overlooking the pool as the rooms on the other side face the main road.

" I’m 16 and I went to Mallorca for... "
Submitted By: Mr A Lewis
I’m 16 and I went to Mallorca for the first time last year with my family staying in Alcudias Ivory Playa. It was the first time I went to anywhere in Spain and didn’t know what to expect.
It turned out to be the best holiday of my life, great resort with a nice beach, and the hotel was brilliant (I’m not usually that complimentary).
The rooms were large and spotless, with very comfortable sofa/beds and lots of space.
The pool was big and cleaned regularly, with plenty of sunbeds.
Not much to my taste, but popular entertainment with organizers that worked non-stop from morning till midnight. Respect going out to them guys.
Friendly staff, especially the cleaner, who helped out even when I was stupid enough to drop a glass on the floor!
And generally a great holiday atmosphere at the hotel.
In Alcudia I visited the hidropark, which was a fun day out, but watch out for a violent penguin on the way in!
Alcudia beach was the best on the island with it’s warm sea, golden sands and mountain backdrop, definitely worth a visit.
As for eating out, the "Casa Del Dragon" is good, very expensive, but delicious Chinese food. Treat yourself for around 30 euros each, you’re on holiday.
We also visited Puerto Pollensa which had another great beach, and Palma the capital city. Quite different to the rest of the holiday, a busy "cosmopolitan" city with a nice harbour and some Spanish culture. The bus ride there cost 8 euros return and took about an hour each way.
The only criticism I have of the holiday overall was Thomson’s. They didn’t tell us we were one of only two families with Thomson’s at the hotel, and got introduced to no other people, clubs or activities, which I felt a shame 'cause I had my eyes on some of the young senoritas there!
Also the rep was boring and all the excursions are a rip off so avoid them. But in general I would love to go back to this hotel and would highly recommend it for any families or couples or even singles. You cannot have a bad holiday here it is the best (and I don’t work for them by the way). So book a break there right now! Happy Holidays.

" While the Ivory Playa is a little way... "

While the Ivory Playa is a little way from the main resort of Alcudia it is situated on the main road close to bus stops and a taxi costs only a few euros.
The accommodation is excellent with friendly staff and whether you are in a studio or 1 bedroom apartment you will find all you need for a relaxing holiday i.e. TV, Air Con and well equipped kitchen. The pine fringed beach is a minute’s stroll from the apartments and the Hypermarket is across the road for all your needs. The only reason to give it less than 10 marks is that the traffic noise has, in the past been disturbing but the new bypass has reduced this to an acceptable level.
It seems to have now been removed from the Thomson’s brochure for 2005 and I have not found another operator that goes there but you can book direct with the Ivory Playa although prices do not seem much different than Thomson’s when comparing 2004 prices.
