Submitted By: Mrs R.M WillshireThe rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean, the staff were very friendly and made our stay even better. The food was exceptional, the buffet was everything you could imagine! Breakfast was a delight with everything from continental to full English, even omelettes. During the week there was an Elvis impersonator, which was absolutely brilliant - we all had such a good laugh. The entertainment was varied everything from Elvis to a Parrot show which was wonderful, and Marvin the compare got wonderfully confused trying to teach our German friends how to play bingo - needless to say one little old english lady scooped all the winnings - twice!!
The buses to Palma, Porto Alcudia, Can Pickafort, and Porto Pollensa and many other resorts stopped right outside the hotel, they were regular and very reasonably priced, there was also a good selection of shops and bars within easy walking distance, and everything was on the flat - perfect for anyone who is disabled.
Would recommend it to all. My husband put on almost a stone in a week! The final icing on the cake was when we were leaving at 4am we were told by the night porter that a continental breakast was waiting for us in the dining room - beat that. Roll on next year!!

Submitted By: Mr J DenningAs expected the service, food, cleanliness in fact everything about our stay was top notch.
The only complaint we had was with regard to the handling of our baggage on arrival at Palma Airport and the handling of us on departure.
Firstly the hotel. This is our 7th visit to Alcudia and our 2nd visit to the Maritimo. We would have stayed here last year but it was fully booked so this time we booked last December just to make sure. The Maritimo is spotlessly clean, well appointed and in our opinion caters for your every need.
The staff are extremely helpful, always courteous and seem to respond very well (and almost gratefully) when you make the effort to use a little Spanish. We have no complaints. It's the little things that count in our opinion like actually speaking to your kids like they matter, for example when ours said "gracias" he was always responded to with a friendly smile and "de nada". It made his holiday that he was treated like he was equal to everyone else.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and most importantly clean. The maids attend every day and if necessary changed your towels every day. The bed linen is changed once a week. The air conditioning was a god send. We had a room which overlooked the dining room which meant we had a garden, lake and sea view (well you could just about see the sea). It was never in full sun due to it's position but considering August was the hottest it's been in Majorca for quite some time, it was nice to have a bit of shade.
No complaints with the restaurant service and again the staff we came into contact with were very helpful and courteous. The food was fantastic once again. Plenty for everyone and loads of variety. Drinks were reasonably priced at the evening meal also it was 6 Euro 50 Cents for 3 bottles of Coke.
The entertainment was good (apart from the bingo) afterall it's a little hard going when each number is called in 3 different languages. Each to their own though. The singing acts were good too. One night "Elvis was in the building" and whilst he wasn't the best impersonator, he was entertaining, friendly and quite funny. We enjoyed it anyway.
The facilities are lovely. There are two main pools and one kids pool outside as well as an indoor pool with Jacuzzi. There is a Sauna, Turkish Bath, Gym, Tennis Courts, Volleyball/Football courts as well as a really comprehensive activities programme which includes Archery, Table Tennis, Water Polo etc. Marvin the entertainer seems to have an abundence of energy and is really friendly too.
The hotel is located adjacent to the main road approximately 250 yards from the beach. There are shops, restaurants and Bars all within a few minutes walk, all reasonably priced. Our favourite restaurants are Las Delicias and the Smiths Bar which are within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There is a bus stop just outside which takes you to C'an Picafort for 1 Euro 30 Cents and the one across the road takes you into either Pueto Alcudia (the port and harbour area) or if you stay on a little longer Puerto Pollensa again for just over 1 Euro. There are a few kiddies arcades as well as your general tourist trinket shops. The lucky lucky men are still around trying to sell you fake sunglasses, watches etc but the local police seem to be cracking down on them a little more this year.
The beach is as wonderful as ever but be careful of the jellyfish. Our son was stung on the first day but the lifeguards are fantastic and sorted him out within a couple of minutes.
All in all this was a fantastic holdiday and I wish we were still there (especially looking out the window at our wonderful British weather at the moment).
The only negatives we had were:
On arrival at Palma Airport we were left standing in the baggage collection hall with no clue as to where to collect our luggage. We were all stood around looking desperately at the screens which seemed to be displaying every other plane arrival apart from ours. After an hour someone shouted that they were on carousel 15 where they had apparently been spinning round for 25 minutes. It was absolute chaos, bags and people everywhere. Not sure what went wrong but by the time we had located our bags and found our bus it meant that we didn't actually arrive at our hotel till 12.30pm - we were shattered. Having said that though, the hotel put on a cold buffet for us with drinks which was a nice gesture as were were all hungry.
The second negative was to do with Thomas Cook. We all know that the reps don't very often travel with you on the transfer buses nowadays but when we were going home we arrived at the airport and didn't have a clue where to go. Normally the rep meets you at the airport and tells you which desk to go to so you can check in. Well our bus pulled up - no rep. The driver lobbed our bags out onto the pavement - no rep. The driver closed the bus doors and drove off - no rep. Leaving us stood there - no rep. Well anyone who's ever been to Palma Airport will tell you it's huge. There are approximately 150 check in desks and we didnt' have a clue which one to go to. After wandering around trying to find - you guessed it a rep - one of the men on our transfer coach asked at the information desk were we needed to go to. He told us desks 111-115 - still no rep. We went to desks 111-115 and stood there for about half an hour until quite a substantial amount of Spanish travellers all started queing up with us. I had a sneaky suspicion that we were in the wrong place - oh did I mention no rep. Anyway we eventually found out we should have been at desks 9-13 which by the time we got there meant we were at the back of a very very long queue despite being at the airport for nearly an hour. It was an absolute shambles. This also meant that by the time we checked in our family had to be seated seperately on the plane which wasn't good for me as a nervous flyer. Not very impressed with Thomas Cook.
Overall though a wonderful holiday, fantastic hotel, weather, food etc. Definately keen to repeat our hotel experience.

Submitted By: Mr Danny ShipmanThe hotel was very good. the Children enjoyed their selves and the young girl entertainers really spent time with all the kids, she worked extremly hard I thought, well done to her. The head entertainer, Mervin I think, had some sort of speach impediment, when he went on the microphone his voice suddenly turned into some kind of freakish alien.
I was not over fussed on the food, but as my Wife says I am a fussy person. shes is right, the staff were generally friendly, the hotel was clean and tidy and the room was fine.Theres plenty to do in this area, so I would recommend it.
Entertainment, well my Wife said no to say anything, but i believe it is best to give an honest opinion, this is what these type of things rely on, in general I must say I dont really know, I only watched one show and that was enough for us,well me, it was awful, the only and the most memorable show for the worst reasons we saw ,was an Elvis impersonater, that could not sing, and I mean could not sing, he looked more like Lurch from the Adams family, why on earth this hotel uses rubbish acts like this I do not know, the thing is, it was so bad it put you off watching anything else, I am an Elvis fan, my Mother still listens to him everyday, I am only glad she did not listen to this act, it would have runined her holiday.
Apparently there was a Neil Diamond show there, who I heard was Ok, unfortunately i am not a fan of his and after the Elvis abomination we did not bother to watch any more shows, Definately have a look at the Rod Stewart show, this was the highlight of my holiday, I am a hugh fan of his, it was at Loonas grill, he's fantastic and the food is superb.
To sum up, we had a really good holiday, I would stay there again, FOOD ,my Wife thought it was Ok, so did the Children.
This is only my opinion, have a great holiday.

Submitted By: Mr Mark PurvisThe only downside was the weather, just 4 days of sun out of 14 but the hotel does have an air condition gym, indoor pool, large jacuzzi, sauna and turkish bath and adult and children entertainer. The hotel has 2 outdoor pools and a childrens pool. One pool says it is not for children under 6 and under 12 must have an adult with them so why oh why did we see babies in nappies in the pool with adoring parents and kids of 5 or 6 with rubber rings round them playing in the pool with the parents yards away?! They would be the first to blame the hotel if anything happened to their darlings. We would not allow our kids unsupervised. Nighttime entertainment was very good - much better than what you usually expect and the manager does not allow karaoke here - he feels that is best left to the bars and not a 4* hotel. Age range was very mixed with some young couples, some young families, older couples and the senior citizen and all felt catered for. We will definitely go again, in fact we have already booked for next year.

The location of the hotel at first seems some way from the main bars and entertainment in Alcudia however there are good bus links and it only takes about 30 mins to walk. You need to cross a main road to reach the beach which has lovely white sand and clear shallow water. Not so nice is the lake area behind the hotel as during our visit this had an unpleasant smell and seemed to contain a large amount of rubbish which was a pity however the beach more than made up for this.
Advice: Loved the Beach in Alcudia, disliked the broken pavements and half finished developments.
Activities: The old town in Alcudia was our favourite area together with the bars and restaurants at the Marina
Good for: Beach
