Spot on
We travelled as a couple in mid May and the complex was excellent. Large 1 bed apartment overlooking the pool & the sea on the 7th floor. Rooms were spotlessly clean, as was the whole place. There are 2 pools with a life guard on duty at all times & he seemed to be great with the kids as were the 2 girls from the mini club. We didn't eat in the restaurant and to be honest the food in the resort is pretty poor throughout regardless of how much you pay. The resort itself is pretty tacky so not for the culture vultures but if you want a baseball cap with 'I love Mallorca' and entertainment consisting of Abba, Robbie William & Elvis tribute acts you'll be sorted. Not sure if i'd revisit Alcudia but that's no fault of the hotel. If i could pick it up & put it somewhere else it would be spot on. Oh & could someone tell that annoying 'SUN CARE ADVISOR' to give it a rest. She will visit everyday saying the sun cream you're using is no good & you need some of hers. BEWARE, if you have any redness you will be targeted and she will, as she put it 'Name & Shame', not the kind of sales pitch I wanna hear on holiday.... HAVE FUN & well done Sol Alcudia Centre
Very noisy all night!
Just got home from a visit to this hotel/apartments. We stayed self catering for a week and overall found the room to be clean, big and have a nice double balcony! We arrived very early on a sunday morning, but the room was then not cleaned by the cleaner until tuesday morning, which wasn't ideal. Also due to the position of the room we were kept awake all night due to rowdy people in the restaurant directly below the room. Entertainment here was good but very loud and once it stopped at midnight the chatter would go on till sunrise, not helped by the people leaving the nightclub directly opposite. The room had a sea / pool view and was located on the 5th floor, it was good because we had sun on a morning but as it passed over the hotel the room was always nice and cool after being in the sun all day. Seemed secure and we didn't have any bother. The staff were friendly and helpful but didn't really spend too much time in the hotel, and the evening / daytime entertainment was very poor, but might appeal to those with children. Beware of the random woman at the pool during the day with a megaphone who picks out sunburnt people on a daily basis to humiliate in order to sell her "tanning products"!! The supermarket on site was fairly priced, but some things a little expensive. Overall good holiday for the price, but a bit too central for a good sleep. Great to be so close to the beach though!
Fantastic Sized Apartments
Just returned from Sol Alcudia Centre, Alcudia. Hotel was all that I expected, one bed apartment 2nd floor facing the pool. However first night after a long day of travelling we were looking forward to a good sleep. However the music at the restaurant/bar went on and then some more singing, yelling etc. Unfortunately we were travelling in a party of 6 and the others where heavy sleepers and heard nothing so we had all the rooms together and didn't like to change rooms. The Centre itself was great with the pool and the children's pool excellent, only down fall apart from the noise was that some of our group would have liked breakfast or dinner in the complex due to lack of numbers they were told that it was closed. However it is still a good hotel, supermarket and reception great.
Loved it, Great
Just got back from the Sol centre after the last week of the season in October. The appartments were great, spacious and clean rooms. The pool area is quite large but during peak season I would imagine it would get crowded given the size of the hotel. Perfectly located near to everything, the beach only a short walk away. Because of the time of year we went a lot of the other hotels and resturants were closing down for the season but there was still plenty to do for a family. We did surfer a bit with mosquitos but a trip to the pharmacy for some cream and repleant sorted that. We are definatley considering this place for our main holiday next year. Top marks............................
great
wellll was one of the best holidays me my wife and two sons have ever been on and it was mostly all down to the hotel. the staff were great and happy to help all times day and night. The cleanliness if the rooms or the hotel you could not fault and the rooms were larger that average and very bright and modern. The location is great the beach whicj is great for watersports is 5 mins away and thats walkin slow also soo many bars restaurants shops all in the region of around a quarter of a mile and a fabulous water park just under a mile away. The entertainment was great for all ages from magic shows to tribute bands a wide selection for everyone. Well i would reccomend this hotel from famillys with kids to older couples who just want a relaxing holiday the only thing i would say is if you are nearer the back of the hotel you will hear some noise until around midnight from a nearby bar called 'cheers' but after that me and my family had no problems with it al though most people said it was better to get a pool view . . all in all it was one of the best hotels i have ever been to and i would recommend it to anyone . . absouloutly greatt !!
liked it
stayed in the sol alcudia in june and i have to say it was a nice surprise the rooms are a good size and kept clean reguarly, it was our first time to travel with our eight month old son so we were a bit weary about how clean it would be but we knew as soon as we walked in to the lobby we would be ok. we knew from other reviews if you are booking ask for a room at poolside to avoid the late bar across the road,we never heard a thing from where we where. had no probs with any brake ins and never heard of any when we where there. the only bad thing is the pool it was freezing and the beds if you want one you have to go down at nine put down your towel. i would go back if i ever return to alcudia and would recomend to anyone
Not a Great Holiday
Just arrived back from the Sol Alcudia Centre after spending two weeks there. We travelled in a group of 4 adults and 3 children aged 9 and 8 and 2. The appartments are very well furnished and are a good size with bedroom, sitting room and kitchen and bathroom also had a double balcony. We were unfortunate to be in an appartment on the road side opposite Cheers bar and were woken every morning at five when this pub closed. The pool area is quite large but beds were booked early in the morning so unless you are an early riser you will not get to lie on a bed for the two weeks. There is no life guard on duty at the pool. While we were there at least 8 appartments were broken into and safes were removed from the rooms. The rooms were cleaned very well for the first week but then standards dropped dramatically. Evening entertainment was very poor and had only one decent show in the two weeks we were there. In summary I was very disappointed with the hotel and the entertainment for the children and would not recommend this hotel to anyone for a family holiday.
Fantastic Hotel Well Recommended
Me and my partner have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Sol Alcudia Center and what can i say...The hotel is lovely and clean and the rooms are very spacious with a big balcony, rooms are cleaned regulary by the maids and they make sure they are done to perfection. The hotel is perfectly positioned as it very close to the beach and there are lots of good places to eat around the hotel.I recommend the Roma restaurant just around the corner if you fancy having steak, there are lots of different steak houses situated near the hotel and there are also pubs where you can get a bite to eat for not a lot of money such as cheers across the road from the hotel. Lots of entertainment in the hotel for kids so i would definatley recommend it to families. The hotel has a lovely pool area with lots of sunbeds so you can jus relax. Would definatley go back to this hotel and do recommend.
Cheap & cheerful.
Stayed here for a self catering week in may. The apartment we had was large & had a huge balcony. The hotel itself was clean & the staff were always helpful. The only gripe we had was the noise from the nearby bars which went on til 4 in the morning every night & even on the pool side of the hotel it was noisy too after speaking to some people we met. This place is good for families but i wouldn't recommend it for any others really & during July & August it would probably be manic & very noisy.
Fantastic family run hotel - going back again this year
We stayed in this hotel in May 2004 for two weeks with our 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter. The room was spacious and very clean. The kiddies pool is big and loads of seats/sun loungers around it so you can keep an eye on the kids. there is a sand pit and play park and two excellent childrens entertainers who work all day and night! The resort is ideal for families, the beach is gorgeous, clean, and the water is warm and shallow for miles. Very child friendly beach. Loads of different types of restaurants, McDonalds KFC etc, plus quaint little Spanish places too. The Port is beautiful at night when it is lit up, and worth a visit. The Bellevue complex at the other end of Alcudia provides free entertainment most nights, for the kids and adults. Also, although expensive, the pirate show is fantastic, my wee boy just loved it. The pirates make a big fuss of the kids (and the mums!. We loved this holiday so much, we are going back again this June 2006.
