We arrived late and was not welcomed like a new family arriving for our holiday, it was like we were annoying the receptionist by arriving late, a buffet was available as dinner was over. We went for the buffet to find salad (left out in the heat) and some chips left warm... more

On the plus side, the hotel is very clean and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Also, it's well situated - near the beach and about 15 minutes walk from Alcudia old town, the Roman ruins etc, and the bus stops to Puerto Pollensa, Palma and so on. However, our... more

Average
My family just recently stayed at this hotel for a week and after reading all the reviews I was very nervous about our arrival. The staff were very friendly and always said good morning. The food was ok, although I found on some days my choices were limited as I don't particularly like pork and beef, but there were alternatives such as rice and plenty of salads/vegetables etc. I have a couple of major disappointments about this hotel which I feel need huge improvements and that is 1. The hallways and bedrooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly, I was scared to let my son walk on the floor bare foot as it was filthy and was in need of a serious vacuuming, our room was never cleaned the whole week we were there, they only made the beds and replaced the towels, the bath was mouldy and the shower curtain smelt disgusting. I found cobwebs on light fixtures, the whole place was in dire need of a good clean! 2. They could seriously do with investing in some double beds!!! and decent bedding, if you do stay at this hotel try and ask the maids for extra pillows, it's the only way you might get a decent nights sleep, and the air conditioning takes a few days to get going! Here's a tip: after your room has been "cleaned" remove the electric card from your key ring and leave it in there, you'll be greatful for a cool room if you've been out in the sun all day.
Excellent Holiday
When I read one particular review on this site I was quite worried about what I would find when I arrived. But I needn't have worried as we had a brilliant time and I don't have one complaint. It is a typical three star hotel that is spotlessly clean. Our room was a fair size. Three of us were sleeping in it and we had enough room to store our bags and move around. There were two big wardrobes, a tv and phone, a nice size bathroom and a lovely balcony .You could swing a cat if you chose to and as you only sleep in the room what more could you want? The maid came everyday and our beds were made and we had clean towels which I didn't expect. The hotel was kept very clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was again typical hotel food. There was plenty of choice and it was hot. My four year old daughter had no problems choosing something to eat and enjoying it. The entertainment was ok. Not the best in the world but if you want 5 star entertainment then I suggest a 5 star hotel. There was something on everynight except Friday and it was pleasant. The childrens entertainment was also good and there was a park. I felt the hotel was safe and as long as you keep an eye on your child then I don't see how they can come to any harm. We loved Alcudia and the port. It was beautiful. The beach was lovely and not crowded at all. The hotel is a street away from the beach. The sea was warm and shallow for quite a way out. The port area is quite quiet. The bars and restaurants are relaxed and not buzzing like I thought they would be. The main strip is about a 10 minute taxi ride away or a half hour walk. But the port area has plenty to offer. We had a fanastic holiday and hope to go back. I have no complaints at all. Feel free to contact me if you want to ask anything.
Great
I Stayed in the Hotel Alcudia in mid July 2003 and I must say that I was very impressed. The hotel staff were friendly and courteous , the entertainment was excellent, food was of high standard and there is plenty of nearby bars and resturaunts. The rooms are cleaned daily and always smell fresh when you return from the pool or a night out. One downside is that somebody we met lost a week of their holiday due to a piece of glass getting lodged in his foot and ended up having to be taken to hospital but this was most likely the fault of a tourist rather than the hotel as notices were posted saying that no glass was to be taken into the pool area. After the incident the pool area was cleared and the area was vaccumed to remove any other shards. Another downside is that if you want a sunbed you will need to get up before breakfast and place your towel on the sunbed of your choice and although this is not permitted by the hotel it still happens.
enjoyed a lovely holiday
I don't know how anyone can write a bad review about this hotel- we have just enjoyed every minute of a really lovely holiday. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the air con in the bedroom was brilliant. The food was really excellent with a lovely selection for breakfast, we normally would not eat any evening meals in a hotel as they never seem up to much - however the selection every evening was plentiful and most delicious. The staff were very pleasant and we would not hesitate to return. Our travel company changed us to this hotel at the last minute and although we do not like Alcudia we are so glad that they made the change - the Hotel Alcudia made a great base- we just drove the short distance every day to the beautiful beaches nearby - Puerto Pollenca, Formentor and Cala san Vicente they are all absolutely fabulous.
Worst I've ever been to!
Although clean, never a three star hotel, never! - walls of paper, doors very thin and open down so that light and all the noises of the hotel came right in - very noisy day and night - unfriendly reception personnel who could'nt care less (the bathroom door got stuck and I had to ask them for three times, one hour, before they came to open it, etc...) - rooms from the 50ies: wornout textiles, sacking beds like in a bad youth hostel, very dark, only one bedside lamp somehow glowing - no window in our room! - a noise ticking every three seconds (from some motor) in the room for all our stay, three days, and the personnel did not do anything about the matter: no ear plugs, no other room..did not sleep for all the time! Worst hotel I've ever been to in Europe, India or Japan.
Port Alcudia and Hotel Alcudia
Pleasant resort and good touring centre. Stayed in Hotel Alcudia - 3 star - very good value for money. Staff generally very friendly, rooms clean and food fine.
Ignore the neg reviews
After reading very mixed reviews, we were a bit concerned about our choice of hotel. However, we began to realise we had been overly pessimistic when we arrived at nearly 10pm to be told that a cold buffet had been kept for us. After leaving luggage in our decent sized room, we were taken personally to the dining room where there was both hot and cold food waiting for us and personal service from the wine waiter . It was strange to sit in a huge dining room on our own!! The hotel is in a great position with shops, restaurants, sandy beach, marina etc , all minutes away. Yes, the room wasn't the most modern we've stayed in and the bath had definitely seen better days, but all was clean. The staff were so friendly. We didn't have children with us, but we were still impressed by the children's entertainer who seemed to work all day! I would agree about there being too many sunbeds around the pool, but, get a life, head for the glorious beach! The actual resort was good, although we were unlucky in that the weather wasn't great, made worse by the fact that Scotland was basking in sunshine for the first time this year!! It didn't stop us having a great holiday though. The food was great, although if you wanted Brit junk food, I could see why people could be disappointed as THERE WASN'T ANY! Finally, we have never before been in a hotel where you could order a half decent wine for 5 euros!! Overall, we'd recommend this hotel.
brill wow fab
what can i say could not have asked for a better holiday. hotel room was spotless towels and beds changed eveyy day. restarunt food was lovely loots to choose from different menu every day and oh my god deserts to die for. the entertainment was fab from "elvis" to a hypnotist to bingo to kiddies disco a good time to be had by all cant wait to go back again even thinking of moving there some day .
in the port area
lovely hotel, spotleesly clean.pool a bit small but not a complaint as we went in august and always got a a sun lounger.good bar, tv lounge, pool table, eve entertainment was average!lovely area, 5 mins from beach(port area).lovely shallow calm beach with lots of little huts which sell snacks, drinks, lollys etc.all the huts are numbered so if the kids wander off , they know what area they are in.good idea.buses eveywere and go everywere, cheap too.watewrpark is excellent-not too vast but plenty of rides etc.go -karts,horse rides.there are other areas in alcudia includin the belle vue area which was much livier with bars and shops.such a beautiful place.brill for kids of all ages.
Loved the beach
The beach in alcuia streaches for miles, its golden sand and very clear and safe waters made it for us has we took our child on her first holiday here in 1999 now we are returning in 2005 and cannot wait.
