Alcudia Hotel Reviews
" Hotel is right at the Marina end... "
Submitted By: Miss VJ ClailLots of shops and restaurants - but not that many 'bars' as such, you need to go further down the other end of Alcudia. Although, you'll need to get a taxi or horse and cart ride to get there. (15 euros for the horse - 4 euros for the taxi!)
Hotel room was quite small, and ours faced a side road which was a little noisy, but far less loud than the entertainment music that went on till 11.30! Not that I am complaining about this at all, as we really enjoyed the entertainment most nights and preferred to stay in the hotel than go out!
The staff were lovely - can't fault them, so nice especially Raff - hello raff we love you!
Also Marc and Carsten who looked after the entertainments programme, again lovely guys.
Not the best food to be honest - the breakfast eggs were horrible. They alternated between scrambled and fried each day, and if it was fried the eggs where still clear with jelly and the scrambled where undercooked and sloppy - yuk! More choice though with fruit, yogurts and cerals etc. Evening meals were better - so much choice hot foods, salads, cold meats, soups, rolls, and lots of delicious puddings!
PLEASE NOTE: at evening meals - you are allocated a meal card which will have your meal times on, and if you are late you will not be allowed in. This is due to the fact they have to stagger the meal times or otherwise there wouldn't be enough room for everyone. I think they should have done this for breakfast too. Since a few times we went down and found that there were no vacant tables or they were not cleared and had to wait for them to be made up.
The pool area is not very big and if you have a lounger at the very front - be prepared to be wet without even getting in the pool!!!!
Rooms were cleaned everyday to a good standard.
All in all a lovely holiday, i would go back to the resort but next time i will go self catering so that you are not tied to the hotel and have to set an alarm to get up for breakfast! Also the food in the resort restaurants was lovely and cheap!

Submitted By: Mr P AllsworthThe hotel was as clean, if not cleaner than anywhere we have stayed before and whilst the food was not A La Carte, we enjoyed a good meal each night, breakfasts were what you expect in the Med', a reasonable attempt at a 'Full English'.
The pool area was comfortable, but the hotel was not full so this had a bearing.
Would we go back to the Alcudia? Definitely, as we came away feeling that we had a very good holiday.

Submitted By: Mrs H CutlerSo my mum asked the staff for a bowl of cereal for the children but was told it was not their problem. On entering the bedroom we found mould on the ceiling. (they did paint over) the food the first week was ok but by the second week you just get sick of the same thing, chips every night.
The pool is too small with sun beds pushed right up against it making it hard to get in or out. The beach is not that far but the water is shallow and smells. (we used to get a bus to can'picafort) . There were some thefts while we were there, money, phones, necklaces from peoples rooms the hotel was not interested.
The rooms are small for 4 people and considering it had a refit in 2005 I can't see what they did. The only good thing was the mini club for the children well done denise.

Submitted By: Mr B O'HanlonWent to reception to complain...just shrugged their shoulders. Not interested. Phoned my rep and explained what had happened, it wasn't so much the money that was annoying me by this stage it was the fact that I had been robbed and wanted something done about it. I must say that our rep (Lynne) was very helpful indeed, she took me to the local police station the next day in her car and helped with the translation for me because they did not speak any English at all. Got police report.
To my complete surprise I met another gentleman from our hotel who had been robbed on the same morning. He also informed me that another couple had a substantial amount stolen from them also. They had to have a whip round for them, unbelievable!!
Well, that’s the main reason I gave a 3 out of 10, but I should say bar staff were very polite and courteous, entertainment was fine and my two kids did enjoy the hotel, which was the most important thing for me. Food ok, bar prices good for alcohol but buy your crisps, juice, water etc at the local Spar.
I did enjoy Alcudia as a resort and the hotel was well placed and the waterpark (hydropark) is a must for the kids, but I would never stay at this hotel again.

Submitted By: Ms J ColebornWe travelled with our 2 teenage children and were given 2 rooms next to each other, they were both very clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful, we had a problem with our air conditioning one night and someone came up immediately and sorted it. There was a good variety of food for both breakfast and dinner. We are all very fussy eaters and there was always something we liked. The only downside was the size of the pool, but the beach is only 5 minutes away and lovely so it didn't matter.
We had a brilliant holiday so if you are going here enjoy and have a good time.

Submitted By: Mrs S PeelThe rep met us at the resort and the taxi driver was ready and waiting to whisk us straight to the hotel. The Hotel Alcudia was so comfortable and friendly, it was small enough to feel at home but large enough for a really good atmosphere. The staff were brilliant, the rooms were kept spotless, the beds were comfy and the bathrooms a nice size with plenty of hot water at all times.
There were only 3 floors with 2 lifts which was adequate. We were entertained each evening and the bar prices were not expensive at all. Everything was informal and relaxed. The food was so good you just had to have seconds. The hotel was near the port which was lovely for an evening stroll whilst the shops were close by and also the bus stops which had a good cheap service to other resorts. The rep called at the hotel each evening and was more than helpful and such a lovely person with a genuine interest in the guests.
We traveled with our son and his family, three teenage boys and we all had the most wonderful holiday ever. It suited all three generations of us! I highly recommend the hotel Alcudia and travel city direct. Also the Western Water Park in Magaluf was well worth a visit. Regards Susan Peel.

Submitted By: Mr I KerrFood was bearable first week then went steadily downhill until we were reduced to go out to eat. Plus my 14 yr old spent all night being sick after eating a pile of the onion rings! (Avoid!). As mentioned in previous reviews, the pool area is far too small for the amount of people in the hotel plus at night, if you wanted to watch the entertainment, if you had the second sitting for your meal there would be no tables left when you came back out. Far too small an area for the amount of people again!
Staff were ok, but my wife asked one kitchen person what a certain item on the menu was (Something done in breadcrumbs again to hide it!) only to be given a shrug of the shoulders and be told, Don’t know! If the servers don’t know what’s in it, pity help us! All in all, a very poor show. We definitely will never be back again.

Submitted By: Mrs S L ParkerSome great bars and restaurants, if you like cocktails its worth a walk to the bugs bunny bar for a pink panther - down near the Belle Vue hotel. 4 Hr boat trip to Formentor was lovely, also went Horse Riding at the Ranxo ses Roques also near the Belle Vue, but they will come and collect and return you to hotel, good even for beginners.
Lovely safe resort especially for families, teenagers are best suited to the south of the island however.

Submitted By: Mrs L ROBERTSOk so the pool got a bit busy. (Name one that doesn't) But with the gorgeous beach not 5 min away who cares. The water parks a must especially with kids or as in my case a teenager. Small but adequate, plenty of slides, chutes, etc.
Spotlessly clean and lifeguards everywhere you look. Would recommend the hotel and resort.

Submitted By: Miss L WilsonIf you are going to this hotel on holiday please do not worry it couldn’t have been more different than most of the comments on this site. The hotel itself was great, the rooms were cleaned every day, you have satellite TV and a great shower in the bathroom. The staff were extremely friendly and would go out of there way to help you.
The pool area was fine, I will say that when it is in the busy months it might get a bit crammed with people but overall very good atmosphere. Now the main thing that I was worrying about was the food I will say that it was not great every night some good some bad but lets face it, its like that most places, there was quite a few choices so there will be something for everyone.
Overall I loved the holiday and the hotel, so fear not if you are going, I have only posted my thoughts on this as I was so worried after reading all the other reviews and wouldn’t want anybody else to be in the same position.

Submitted By: Mrs D MillerThe pool was tiny, too may sunbeds around the pool, the sunbeds are tight together and if you wanted off the sunbed you had to get off at the bottom of it. And then risk being pushed in the water by kids trying to get past.
Every afternoon they played water polo "what a disaster" if you like to lie and read by the pool forget it you would be as well going in and playing because by the time they are finished you would be as wet as them in the pool.
My kids did not join in the kids club it was at the back of the hotel and any other hotel we have been at they come looking for the kids to join in. But here if you did not go then that was it.
The evening entertainment is not much to write home about, the kids have entertainment every night before the full entertainment starts, but again once you have experienced 1 night of it that is enough as it is the same every night.
Beautiful beech, nice location, but would not go back to Hotel Alcudia due to food and pool area.

I travelled with my wife and two children aged 4 and 11
on a half board basis.
We found the food almost inedible especially the breakfast,
the evening meals were not much better unless you like chips with everything, after a week we started to eat out all of the time so had wasted our money by going half board.
We did go main weeks, which probably explains why there was no room around the pool area as the hotel had crammed so many sunbeds into the pool area that you could not get in or out of the water without climbing over sunbeds.
we were originally put into a room which was far too small and after 3 days of complaining to our rep we were moved to a slightly bigger room but still all four beds were in the same area so don’t expect any privacy.
Also for the first 24 hrs we were without water we were told this was a local problem but found out that there was water running ok elsewhere in the hotel?
Alcudia itself was really good though with plenty of bars and restaurants serving all types of cuisine.
A special mention for comics bar whose breakfasts were excellent. All in all nice resort shame about the hotel.
However bar staff are brilliant so are the entertainers however if your room is not cleaned when maid comes round they do not come back, so be warned.
Very small pool and a lot of people are up putting their towels on beds from 7am.
The entertainment is varied no entertainment on a Friday, though and hotel is quiet from 11.30pm at night due to surrounding apartments, which is a bit of a pain.
Wouldn’t go back to Alcudia again as its just to quiet and be warned you cant get any food after midnight.
