Earl Of Doncaster Hotel

The Earl of Doncaster is certainly my first choice hotel and would most definately recommend it to anyone staying in the area. I stayed here with my husband last November (it was his birthday!) We checked in no problem and the room was well laid out and clean. The evening meal was good and we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar afterwards. The staff were all helpful and pleasant and we felt we got good value for money. If we go back to Doncaster in the future I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.

I stayed at this hotel back in April 2006 whilst away on business in Doncaster. It is situated about a 15 minute walk from Doncaster town centre where there is plenty of places to grab a bite to eat. The hotel has a small carpark and although the reception looks a bit scary with black marble and pink neon lights the rooms are not that bad. They're clean and comfortable with a good size bathroom. This hotel is definitely in need of modernisation and a good clean. The steps from the street to the hotel are covered in carpet which has not had a good clean for a few years. First impressions when you step inside are quite good until you get to reception then you may be lucky to be welcomed with a smile from the younger staff members or a growl from the older staff ( I thought it was the younger generation who were meant to have the bad manners). Check-in process quick and courteous, room spacious and VERY clean throughout, nice sized bathroom with shower. Had a great peaceful night after a few beers in the bar and a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Woke up to a FANTASTIC fryup and checked out again within minutes, a great place to stop with friendly staff and service, worth a visit just for the quality of the food (Great price too)!!! Please all readers do yourself a favour and DO NOT STAY at the Earl of Doncaster. Upon arriving I was tired after a 16 hour day and checked into a double delux room! I entered and the room was falling apart, it was dirty and the wall paper falling off. Three out of four lights did not work. The bathroom was filthy, the shower allowed only one hole to spread water as it was totally limescaled. I then ventured to the restaurant. I ordered the Prawns with a light garlic sauce to start... they were straight out of a packet and were revolting.... more

Stayed at hotel 1 night only. Had valuables took from room,when informed staff they were not at all helpful. Management was even worse the following day when i phoned to complain, manager said "not comenting "and put phone down. I would not recommend any one to stay there.

I stayed at this hotel because a friend held her wedding there. The hotel is fine, as another reviewer said the lobby is a sight to behold! there is an art deco theme through the communal areas that you really can't miss!! Our room was a superior twin (despite booking a double)....the room was fine if a bit tired looking however there was a terrible smell in the corridor. the shower didn't have any hot water that we could find and we had to make do with a bath. Don't be put off by the outside view from the carpark, or the purple foyer! The rooms are nice and comfortable, with good showers. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was good

Arrived to find one man running all three floors of this 'hotel'. Ever seen Fawlty Towers?! The stairs were being painted so had to literally stride over decoraters who were painting skirting boards, not good health and safety not to mention the smell. Chef was elsewhere, apparently ill, so could not have evening meal there as planned so went out. That evening we returned to find one bar closed and the other had was used as part of a function with 100+ people being served by TWO MEMBERS OF STAFF.
