Xenos Kamara Beach Aparthotel Reviews
" This place is absolutely wonderful we... "
Submitted By: Mrs M GlascottThe hotel is spotless, we had a massive apartment which was right overlooking the beach, our room had two bedrooms, a ig kitchen a table, lovely bathrrom and extra hanging space in the hallway, double balcony.
You could also see Zante town from our room
The staff were really really pleasant and the food was delicious
The rooms were cleaned properly and everything worked to a tee
The beds are massive and clean the tv worked fine, not that we watched it but had it on while we got ready to go out
The pool was cleaned every night and it was quite warm even in may
Argassi itself is really nice, plenty to eat and great places to eat, we spent most nights in Avalon bar,
If you do any excursions go on the trip to shipwreck cove, this place is utterly amazing, ust better than any pictures on the web, it takes your breath away. book with the tour operators in argassi as it is much cheaper
There is also a free bus that goes to I think it was st michaels beach which is full of watersports
Also go to the waterpark it is well worth the money
All in all it was a fantastic holiday, and this hotel was just perfect. I would highly reccommend this place

Submitted By: Mrs A CoffeyWe arrived on 7th August 2008 and we were shown to our apartment, room 103. We noticed immediately that the toilet seat was missing and that there was a pull switch hanging from the wall in the bathroom with exposed wires in the shower area of the bathroom (in fact the whole bathroom was designed as ‘wet room’ without shower curtain or cubicle) We asked the British receptionist if a new toilet seat was available and also to sort out the exposed wires, especially as we have two children who would be using the bathroom. We were told that the toilet seat was on order and they couldn’t be sure when it would arrive. We asked if another room was available but were told that none were. The toilet seat had not arrived when we left on the 14th August. This made life quite awkward for our children and was extremely unhygienic. Whenever we chased progress with receptionist, we got a lot of smiles and platitudes but never any action. Additionally, the wet room arrangement in the bathroom succeeded in flooding the whole apartment whenever the shower was used so we had to purchase a mop on day one to get rid of the water and to prevent our children from slipping and hurting themselves.
We also paid an additional 45 euro for air conditioning for the week. The first night, the children’s room was nice and cool and ours was stifling. The apartment had two air conditioning units, one in each bedroom. The unit in the main bedroom did not work as the external unit had been removed, leaving yet more live wires on the balcony. Another trip to the receptionist, who again smiled and assured us that it would be repaired tomorrow. Tomorrow never came, and again on leaving on the 14th August our air conditioning was still out of action and a refund for the additional fee was not given despite being asked for.
We have been taking our children abroad since they were born and have ventured to many places and we have never had a problem with accommodation or service. Nor are we the type of people of who usually complain or are overly fussy, but Xenos Kamara Beach is the worst place we have ever stayed in as a family and the British receptionist was the most useless, ineffective member of staff we have ever come across. It was so obvious that they couldn’t care less about the problems in our apartment as they already had our money.

Submitted By: Mrs L BattyeWe were really impressed. We expected the accommodation to be a bit shabby but were surprised. We were allocated a two bedroom apartment which was very spacious and clean and tidy (cleaned every day).
The bar area was kept clean and had an extensive menu and the food was lovely.
The hotels location is brilliant being right on the beach, although if you’re a beach lover it is only a thin strip, and only a very short walk into the resort centre.
If you’re looking for nightlife you might find this a bit quiet but you can get taxis into Laganas.
Eating out was really nice we never had a bad meal and the cost was quite reasonable.
The week we went the weather was fantastic.
Overall I’d recommend going if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful holiday. I’d definitely go back.

Submitted By: Mr J CooperThe hotel is beautiful, in the most amazing setting with breathtaking views. OK, the beach isn't the most amazing thing in Argassi, but Gerakas beach is just a short drive down the coast and will take your breath away (we even saw a baby turtle born!).
The hotel is very clean, you can see staff out in the evenings hosing, cleaning, gardening, sorting out the pool, ready for the next day. We never tried the food as there are many, many places to eat in Argassi, but we saw many people return to eat there.
We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely be returning in the future.
To all the staff, a big thank you for making our first trip to Zakythos, a very happy one.
John, Nicky and baby Oliver.

Submitted By: Miss ElliottThe apartments were really nice, very spacious and clean, (not at all basic, like we had been warned about!) We were also lucky enough to get a front facing sea view apartment, which was great, however you could hear the music from the bar below.
This didn't start till late morning and finished fairly early so wasn't really a problem for us, however might not be so good for a family with young children. The pool was really good too, not too cold, and very clean!
The surrounding area is also very nice and the selection of restaurants is good! We found the Jam restaurant particularly good as the food was yummy and you could play pool after your meal, whilst drinking a free cocktail! Although the nightlife is not as lively as the resort of Laganas, there are a few good places, particularly Factory, where we got lots of free shots.
As for the bad bits well... as previous reviews have mentioned, there is not a lot of beach, however there are not a lot of people so this never seemed to be a problem! The only other thing with the beach was that we found a few bits of broken bottle, which made me very aware, if I had children I would be quite cautious, (maybe take jelly shoes)!
The airport was our only bad bit really! It’s tiny and you have to queue outside while you wait for all the other people to filter in. When you get inside its fairly well organized but there is nowhere to sit! When you add this to the fact that our flights were early in the morning it makes for a lot of groggy people!
Overall we had a great holiday; it’s what you make of it really! We chose to hire a quad for a day, which was brilliant and allowed us to see parts of the island we didn't realise were there! We also went on a boat trip to the smugglers cove, which went around the whole island and was great! Though you need lots of sun cream.

Submitted By: Mrs J SmithThe apartments are lovely; if you can afford to go for a higher star rating then you should as it’s worth it. We talked to other people who had a 2 star and they had plastic forks and paper plates.
We had a 2 bed apartment, kitchen had a full microwave that roasted, cooked, toasted etc, an electric hob, toastie maker and room for 5 to sit and eat. Take mugs if you like a large coffee as the cups are small. Full bathroom, large double bed in bedroom one with a TV, dresser and wardrobe and doors to the balcony. Bedroom 2 had storage and 2 beds with doors onto the balcony.
Our view was to the inner courtyard and backed onto a Greek taverna. Once the doors are closed the room is more or less soundproof and we were not disturbed by music etc. The bar and lounge area are nice, pool area is safe for kids but watch out for the guys selling DVD copies that hassle you all the time. Its Greek law/custom that anyone can use any pool and at 2pm ish we had a few school kids dropping their bags on a lounger and jumping in. At which point the English kids got out. Ice Creams from the bar are very nice by the way!
Beach is a bit nasty, seaweed and rubbish. You can walk out a long way and snorkelling is good but my kids got stuck with jelly fish or something. Mossies are also a pain.
Eating out is good; we spent on average 40/50 EU each night for 4 with drinks. Try Stars for a Greek night of dancing and across from there for a good fry up. The tavernas are all much the same as are the shops. YU GI OH cards are very cheap; they are probably copies but look good!
Use the free bus to St Nicholas beach at 10.30am just down the road, take a picnic as food is expensive there, lots of water sports there but not for 10/11 year olds really more for 18/30 group. Again nice and shallow and safe.
We went on a full island boat trip on the last day, very rough and I was very ill! Blue caves and shipwreck as well as stops for swimming, again take a picnic! Next time I wouldn't go on this trip but hire a car and travel to them under our own steam.
Good Holiday, will probably try a different island next time. You may get Nicola the Cosmos rep looking after you; she is very nice and helpful.

Submitted By: Mr W SutherlandThe pool was great and you were only a stone throw away from a great beach which was so clear and shallow you could walk out for what seemed miles. The actual town centre was great aswell, but one word of warning shop around the outlets selling excursions as there are good ones and bad ones. A must though is a coach trip around the island where you can pick up great bargains if you like wine and lace goods.
We found the Red Lion pub and Legends owned by the same people were great. Good food and great beautiful staff who were always up for a laugh.
Overall this holiday was one of the best I have been on and would recommend it to not only young singles but for families to and if you are thinking of a honeymoon you get great sunset views of the med from the hotel balcony. 10 out of 10 can't say more than that.

Submitted By: Miss V JonesHOTEL: fantastic, spotless and very welcoming. It is a self catering hotel but has a snack bar open during the day. However we went daily to Remezzos just along the left of the beach. What a fantastic place. Remezzo and his family are fantastic, if Andreas the waiter is still there say hello from the sausage lady!!! Remezzo is fantastic with kiddies and they love families and he doesn’t mind noisy children (trust me!!)
POOL: the pool has a fenced off area for small children. There are plenty of free sun loungers and brollies around the pool. The pool is clean and the steps to the beach are just within a few feet away.
BEACH: the loungers and brollies are chargeable 6euro for 2. My little girl loved the beach. The sand was cleaned every evening however the sea has a lot of seaweed, so I suggest buying swimming shoes. ( do not buy them from the shop up the slope as his prices for most things are outrageous, the shops further in Argassi are best. There is a supermarket called 'Best' which sells everything at reasonable prices and always had the best exchange rates too).
ROOMS: spotless cleaned every day. Air con was needed at this time of year which was 140 euro for the fortnight, expensive but worth it. The balconies are huge.
ENTERTAINMENT: not much at the hotel however as we ate out every evening we went to almost every eatery in argassi.
EATING OUT: Peppermint 10/10. Best for adults as it is quite a romantic place and the waiter service is exceptional. The Green Frog is a must for parents with kids. Entertainment every night, bouncy castle, playground, football pitch. Fab 9/10.
Two Brothers 10/10 loads of places and we never had a bad meal in 2 weeks.
HORSE RIDING: If you want to ride go with Yiannis and Natasha based at Zante horse riding centre in between laganas and kalamaki. Every horse we saw was so well looked after, we went for a 2 hour ride and it was fantastic. You could tell they were not just in it for the money and Yiannis picks you up from your hotel!!
OVERALL: now I am home I feel very depressed!! We miss the place so much we will be returning next year. The kids rated it 10/10. We grown ups rated it 10/10.
The hotel is amazing and the reception staff will bend over backwards to help. Perfect!!!!

Submitted By: Mrs V LeeThere are several restaurants with extensive menus but each offers the same fayre. However, we ate out every night with no real disappointments.
Everyone was very friendly. Hotel reception staff especially so. They ordered taxis whenever, and were able to answer all queries. Some very fine cruising vessels sailed by while we were there but we were surprised one morning to see the QE2 drop anchor in the bay. It was an awesome sight.
The Travel Agents suggested we use an American Express Travelers Cheque Card instead of taking cash or the usual travelers cheques. You need to find an ATM though to withdraw your money or an outlet that will accept the card. There are two ATM's in Argassi but the one in the glass box on the main street never had any money in it. The other is situated by 'Best' Supermarket. It appears that the card isn’t as popular in Greece as much as Spain etc. For info we only found one restaurant that would accept the card) Castaways Rooftop restaurant) - and the Duty Free shop at the airport on the way back!
This was our second holiday to Zante - the first being to Kalamaki. We would probably return to Greece but visit one of the other islands next time.
PS. The seaweed was cleared from the beach when we were there. There was no rubbish apart from cigarette butts in places but how do you stop that problem?

Submitted By: Mr Je CourtThe resort is quite tacky and dirty its basically just a very busy main road with plenty of football shirted youths and its not in anyway pleasing to the eye quite the opposite the bins are always full on the pavements and it stinks pretty bad. Ethnics is the best restaurant by far, some are awful and everything and I mean everything comes with chips! The hotel pool is Ok but when we were there it was full of teenagers and kids so we stayed by a pool just along the so called beach called Dimitris which was much better and the staff there were great and very friendly.
Overall we enjoyed a relaxing break but I would not stay there again as it was totally different to the picture postcard resort and hotel we were expecting. (Don’t believe everything you read the only thing I agree with on previous reviews is Ethnics!).

Submitted By: Miss DK AndersThe theme nights in the hotel were extreamly enjoyable with singing to quiz games!
Argassi itself it just lovely with breath taking cenery (espesially the sunset from the hotel) and a lively nightlife it was lots of fun.
The rooms were large and keeped very clean.
This was a brilliant holiday and i cant wait to go again 10/10 nothing can be faulted!
And I just want to stress how fantastic the staff actually were!

Submitted By: Dr B JobsEthnics was the best restaurant on the island. Food was vvv tasty and ideally you should book up in advance as its a very popular place.
As for Peters, well, I wouldn't let my cat eat there! The Clay Pot meals there resemble an under-cooked microwave meal...not appealing at all!
Its recommended to hire out push bikes for the day to tour part of the island. You get fantastic views and its fairly cheap.
The best part of the holiday? I met a lovely young filly named Mildred on the Saga tour, and now we are happily dating.
PIMMS O CLOCK!!!

the hotel and staff are great (for though that know George the bar man he is back next year )couldnt fault the hotel for a 2 star hotel .YES it's Officialy a 2 Star not 3 as the tour operators have labeled it .The hotel is very clean and well situated it also has Ramps for wheelchairs and even 2 designated disabled rooms with wide doors and with an open shower room (so you can get a wheelchair in easily)
Car hire is a doddle we used the local company the flocas car hire (just round the corner) for 7 days and asked for a car to carry a wheelchair in and got a Hyundi
which was more than big enough .
its a family company and it has good quality cars and service (cheapes in Argassi as well ).
currently the resort of Argassi is very expensive to stay in due to the Euro /pound
there are loads of fine restaurants including the Star, Athenia & Zorbers just down from the hotel .
There are a couple of duffers though like the green frog ,zevz (Bragging they have cod and it aint its crap) the 3 brothers restaurant all have lousy service and the food was very average .
PLEASE not the motor bike hire is cheaper but they are very dangerous on the slick roads seen several crashes and all needed hopital treatment
(your insurance with the bike only covers the bike not you neather will your holiday insurance in most cases . where in a car you are covered
hope this is of help
enjoy the island and the hotel nothing was ever to much hassle for them .
