If you are staying at the Kamara...
7 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs V Lee

If you are staying at the Kamara Beach aim for room 312. It has THE best views from its roomy balcony. The sea is fantastic - clear and shallow for quite a distance. We have never spent so much time in the water. The swimming pool is small and you need to be first in, in the morning if you want to swim lengths. Everywhere is kept very clean and the nearest supermarket [Theo's] is a stones throw away with reasonable prices. They also converted sterling at 1.46 with no commission!
There are several restaurants with extensive menus but each offers the same fayre. However, we ate out every night with no real disappointments.
Everyone was very friendly. Hotel reception staff especially so. They ordered taxis whenever, and were able to answer all queries. Some very fine cruising vessels sailed by while we were there but we were surprised one morning to see the QE2 drop anchor in the bay. It was an awesome sight.
The Travel Agents suggested we use an American Express Travelers Cheque Card instead of taking cash or the usual travelers cheques. You need to find an ATM though to withdraw your money or an outlet that will accept the card. There are two ATM's in Argassi but the one in the glass box on the main street never had any money in it. The other is situated by 'Best' Supermarket. It appears that the card isn’t as popular in Greece as much as Spain etc. For info we only found one restaurant that would accept the card) Castaways Rooftop restaurant) - and the Duty Free shop at the airport on the way back!
This was our second holiday to Zante - the first being to Kalamaki. We would probably return to Greece but visit one of the other islands next time.
PS. The seaweed was cleared from the beach when we were there. There was no rubbish apart from cigarette butts in places but how do you stop that problem?

Jul 2006, Mr Je Court

We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of June and have to say we thought on reading previous reviews we were walking in to paradise, in all honesty its not that spectacular. There in no beach at all unless you call a slither of fag buts and seaweed a beach you need to hop on to a bus to go to the nearest one which is 10.30 daily just up the road and its free. The rooms were clean and the hotel OK but nothing more than your usual apartment accommodation you get abroad, it is very noisy also as you can here all the karaoke and bars until the early hours. The resort is quite tacky and dirty its basically just a very busy main road with plenty of football shirted youths and its not in anyway pleasing to the eye quite the opposite the bins are always full on the pavements and it stinks pretty bad. Ethnics is the best restaurant by far, some are awful and everything and I mean everything comes with chips! The hotel pool is Ok but when we were there it was full of teenagers and kids so we stayed by a pool just along the so called beach called Dimitris which was much better and the staff there were great and very friendly. Overall we enjoyed a relaxing break but I would not stay there again as it was totally different to the picture postcard resort and hotel we were expecting. (Don’t believe everything you read the only thing I agree with on previous reviews is Ethnics!).

This has been one of the most enjoyable holidays I have been on. Buttons was fab, she and the rest of the girls really looked after everyone and made sure nobody was without anything.
The theme nights in the hotel were extreamly enjoyable with singing to quiz games!
Argassi itself it just lovely with breath taking cenery (espesially the sunset from the hotel) and a lively nightlife it was lots of fun.
The rooms were large and keeped very clean.
This was a brilliant holiday and i cant wait to go again 10/10 nothing can be faulted!
And I just want to stress how fantastic the staff actually were!

Hotel was superb and situated in an ideal position...I wouldn't have to walk to far to the shops, which ensured my knee problems wouldn't swell up constantly.
Ethnics was the best restaurant on the island. Food was vvv tasty and ideally you should book up in advance as its a very popular place.
As for Peters, well, I wouldn't let my cat eat there! The Clay Pot meals there resemble an under-cooked microwave meal...not appealing at all!
Its recommended to hire out push bikes for the day to tour part of the island. You get fantastic views and its fairly cheap.
The best part of the holiday? I met a lovely young filly named Mildred on the Saga tour, and now we are happily dating.

The Apartments were very clean, and the staff were really friendly. The Cosmos childrens' Reps were fantastic with the children and couldn't do enough for you.
The Apartments are based right on the beach, so you have a choice of using the pool or the beach. You are far enough away from the nightlife not to hear it, but close enough to walk to it.
The best place to eat is called "Ethnic", serves wonderful kebabs - very filling.
I recommend going on the trip to see the Turtles, it's a wonderful day out.
I will definitely be going back to Xenos Beach.

I had a really good holiday one of the best I have had yet.
The apartments were great and the staff were friendly and helpful. As for the location I couldn’t have wished for any where better than right on the beach front and close to shops and bars. the nightlife was quiet but other resorts made up for that.
The island was beautiful and the weather was great after the first two days, plus the local people were very friendly and welcoming. Although I was a bit disappointed when we went on a boat trip to see turtles and never seen any.
The holiday reps were helpful and gave some good ideas on what to do while we were there. One in particular was the best holiday rep we have ever had. His name was disco Dan and was with cosmos he was brilliant.
Normally it takes a lot to make me and my sister laugh but he did every time we saw him he was good fun .
We had a really good holiday in a good apartment in nice weather beautiful location and great friendly people we will never forget it and we are going back next year.

What a fantastic hotel the Xenos...

Jun 2003, Mr P Lay

What a fantastic hotel the Xenos Kamara is. It's very much a family hotel, though I was one of three mid-20's lads looking for a quiet and relaxing hotel close to a lively nightlife (Laganas is only a few pounds away in a taxi).
The hotel is the most friendly I have ever stayed at - the staff are incredibly welcoming, and you soon get to know them all. Whilst rooms are fairly basic, they are spotlessly clean and represent excellent value for money. The hotel's location really could not be better - it is on a beautiful spot overlooking the beach. The pool is good, but you're only ever a few steps away from the sand and a fairly quiet beach.
The hotel is in a quiet spot of Argassi, yet within about a minutes walk you are in Argassi's centre. Argassi itself was incredibly friendly, we tended to eat in Argassi and then either find a quiet bar there for a few relaxing drinks, or when we wanted a bigger night, Laganas was just down the road. Argassi has a vast number of good value restaurants and enough bars to keep you busy (though some tended to be quite quiet at times). Despite all this Argassi retains a quaint 'village' feel, and even within a couple of days the local bar owners or restaurateurs will start to recognise you and chat, even when they know there's no business in it for them! You must pay Tiffany's restaurant a visit - you will instantly know it as the one with the eccentric old man called Peter trying to coax you to come in! He WILL give you the hard sell, but make him sweat for a couple of nights then go in -- the guy is an absolute legend and you will spend your entire meal there with a smile on your face!
I'm someone who never goes back to the same place, but I might just have to head back to Xenos Kamara someday soon. To sum up the hotel and the town in two words..... genuinely friendly. I really cant recommend it enough. GO!!
