A very special little hotel
I took a party of 7 to this hotel for a business meeting the following day. The hotel gave me a discount on the price and the booking was hassle free. I have no complaints to register about this hotel. The staff were attentive and helpful at all times. What was promised was delivered. All of our rooms had air conditioning on what was a very hot day so this was perfect. We ate a beautiful meal on the front terrace on a warm summers evening which including wine cost just £40 per head. I just don't understand the comments about breakfast, its... more
Excellent Hotel
Stayed at the Old Parsonage Hotel for a 2 night break. We found the hotel an ideal location for exploring central Oxford. The atmosphere was very relaxed, staff friendly and helpful, loved the open log fire in reception, and the lit candles on the outdoor tables of a winter's evening. Some may regard the rooms to be small, but we found them more than adequate, definitly a hotel we would visit again.
Fab hotel
Stayed here mid week to see a comedian at the theatre - excellent little hotel! Staff we're great, friendly when checking in, restuarant and at the bar (and when we ordered food at 2am, thanks guys). Food was fab, bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Room was large & had all we needed, two TV's, big comfy bed, bathroom was decent size, balcony area straight from room to a court yard which I imagine is nice in summer. Only down side was breakfast, they didn't do 'hot' food such as english breakfast only toast & pastries, which was... more
Pleasant stay at The Old Parsonage
Stayed at The Parsonage for a weekend break. Ideal for those wanting a hotel within walking distance of the centre of Oxford. They offer a half price deal during January for 2 nights or more, so room rate was very reasonable. The hotel was small and inviting. The log fire as you walk into the hotel was a nice treat. Our room was as you would expect from a boutique hotel, bottles of water, ice, proper tea and coffee, molton brown products in the bathroom, plasma TV. The room was not overly big, but comfortable. Fresh apples for guests in... more
Overall good, but there could be some inprovements
Stayed for a long weekend in Jan 06. The location of this hotel is fantastic, only a short walk to the heart of oxford, and surrounded by some great places to eat (highly recommend G&D's in Little Clarendon Street). Room was very comfortable, bed was huge and the bathroom was ok. On the downside, our room was not ready an hour after check-in time so we were directed to the hotel bar to wait, a costly experience!! You have the ability to request fresh milk and shortbread from the bar to your room, which is great in theory,... more
Great Hotel
The Old Parsonage is superb in many ways, the continually roaring log fire in the lobby, wonderful meals in the galleried restaurant and terrific drinks from the bar. The suites are very nice and have wonderful English charm coupled with modern amenities such as flat screen tv's etc. My only criticism is that the service is not what it should be for a hotel of this calibre and price - something the owners need to fix. Despite this I intend to return and recommen d if budgets allow to choose a suite.
Exquisite hotel.
The Old Parsonage Hotel is the epitome of country house hotels, but in the heart of Oxford. The thirty-something rooms are decorated to please both the weary holiday traveller and the business person away from home. Chic decor, comfortable beds, state of the art heating and air conditioning, internet connections, excellent service, and a wecoming atmosphere complete the package. A hotel you'll want to return to.
Watch Out for the 'Deluxe' Room Category
We booked two 'Deluxe' rooms for a visit last week. Apparently my definition of deluxe and theirs are vastly different. We were directed to two very small, threadbare rooms in the oldest part of the very old hotel, right on the busy main street. Quite noisy all night. Upon inquiry, I was told that the hotel only has 4 'Deluxe' rooms, the rest are 'Suites'. Go for a suite if you have to stay here. We found the accommodation overpriced, with no porter service to tote our bags up two flights of stairs. We felt we were really... more
luxury and comfort, beautifully combined
We have entertained clients in Oxford on a number of occasions over the past three years. After at first recommending a selection of hotels in Oxford to our clients, repeated positive feedback, combined with our own experiences at the hotel, has prompted us to now solely recommend the Old Parsonage Hotel as Oxford's most stylish, inviting, warm and 'complete' hotel. As well as elegantly presented rooms that combine quintessentially old English traits with stylish decor, the restaurant serves an exquisite menu with a fine afternoon tea... more
quiet and cozy elegance
My husband and I have visited Oxford several times in the past couple of years and have repeatedly stayed at the Old Parsonage. Each time we return it is with a feeling of coming home. The Old Parsonage is quintessential Oxfordian charm with modern convenience. The beds are amongst the most comfortable we have ever slept in; the rooms quietly and elegantly decorated. The staff cannot do enough to ensure a guest's comfort. The restaurant has improved with each stay; the food can now be unreservedly said to be excellent. We cannot wait to... more
