Elephant Corridor Resort

Having been surprised at the disappointing reviews on here I feel compelled to write about my stay at the EC in February. I stayed here for the first 3 nights of my honeymoon tour of Sri Lanka and my husband and I both agreed it was simply excellent. As honeymooners we were upgraded to the romantic suite which had so much space we didn't know what to do with ourselves! We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon. We had a free upgrade to the romantic suite which included an indoor plunge pool. The food was excellent and cheap, staff friendly and attentive. It's very, very quiet. Most of the time we were the only people in the bar or by the pool. Wonderful and relaxing. We never saw the wild elephants that drink at the tank, but the resisdent elephant gave us a ride and we saw them on safari! Its a great location to visit Sigiriya [about 40 minutes drive]. We had already had a good welcome to Sri Lanka by our stay at the Hilton Colombo. After a journey, driven by our private driver Lal - meandering through villages and beauty - stopping first for a refreshing freshly cut pineapple and a little later - juice of the Kind Coconut and a tester of cashewnuts -we visited the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. We walked through a road of shops which went right down to the riverside where the elephant herd were taking their bath.
