Travelodge Hotel Nottingham Riverside reviews

I booked 2 nights here at the end of...
2 / 10
Jan 2008, Mr A Harrisson

I booked 2 nights here at the end of May and paid £29 per room. Both rooms were family rooms as there were no doubles left, and each room was only occupied by 1 person in our case.
The Positives:
• Comfortable Bed,
• Big room,
• Near to Nottingham Centre (and good Park and Ride into the city),
• Cheap room (£29 for double en-suite with sofa and pullout too, was ok for 1 person, but for 3 or 4 people, £29 is a fantastic price.)
The Negatives:
• Rooms were still being cleaned after check-in opened,
• I had no teabags in my room for some reason (just an error, but I wasn’t happy at having no tea. The next day I left a note and I was given teabags.),
• Being with family rooms, I could hear the noise of families, especially small children,
• I found the room too hot and stuffy,
• The shower went cold for a second a few times, and this was a bit of a shock,
• We had keys, not key cards – which are far more secure,
• The shower leaked everywhere through poor fitting,
•The pullout had a dead moth on it – general cleanliness was poor.
Overall, a shame about the noise and the few mistakes made by the staff and the noise, but a comfortable nights sleep. If possible, book a double room to get away from family noise (it was half term, so there were lots of families.) Ground floor corridor smelt of smoke, presumable from smoking rooms, which is just something that is inevitable. I had a non-smoking room and I certainly had no problems with the smell from there. I was slightly concerned about being on an industrial estate, but the buildings are alright, and the hotel has CCTV, and there isn’t really a feeling of insecurity.
Staff – Receptionist miserable and not too friendly. 1/5
Location – Close to City Centre and main roads 4/5
Room – Good size, furnishings alright (showing a bit of age – nothing brand new, but all works fine) 3/5
Noise – Very noisy from other families, and delivery lorries etc. left engines running at night. 1/5
Would I stay again? No – even for £29 the noise was too annoying, the smell of smoke was disgusting, the staff were miserable, the cleanliness and customer care were disappointing. For this hotel, Travelodge certainly cared more for my money, than for me as a customer. London was great, and cheaper – being a brand new hotel, and I liked Travelodge after that stay, but from now on I won’t be using them again.
If this is a typical Travelodge, I will certainly not use them again. I may look into staying at new hotels, as these are fine, but I was very disappointed at this hotel.
