Great Hotel
from bethlyson
I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in this hotel. I travelled with my husband, daughter (9), Mum, Dad & neice (9). We were first given our family rooms which we had booked but didn't like the view so my mum & I went to reception & asked for a move. The reception staff where lovely, they moved us the next day to sea view rooms on the 7th (top) floor. They were amazing, cleaned every day with fresh towels. I have read comments in the previous reviews and I feel like we have been on a different holiday. It was our first visit to Rhodes and we would definately return. The weather was fabulous, the hotel we couldn't fault, the food was great, all the staff were freindly, the entertainment team were amazing. We could speak to the mangers daily they were always about. My daughter who is nine has been on many holidays abroad, sometimes twice a year & she said it was one of the best hotels & definately the best animation team. In my opinion the hotel was a 4 star as the brochure said, cause remember this is Greece not Spain, it had 5 lifts not 2 as another review said, & of course you had plastic cups outside, how else could you guarentee no accidents with the glasses, because ufortunately there are people on holiday who have no respect for others & just leave their empties lying about! Glasses were available in the returant & the inside bars. You could help yourself to anything food or drink all day & none of our party had to buy a thing outside the hotel to eat! As for sunbed saving my husband has always got up early to do this whether we've been in Spain Majorca Cyprus Malta or anywhere & it is not a new thing, 10 years ago he was doing it. this is not particular to this hotel. My advice would be "if you can't beat them join them!" There were a lot of foreign guests but lets remember we are all foreign on holiday in another counry & they have all paid good money to be there so I don't have a problem. If people want all British guests in the hotel maybe they should stay in Blackpool! Although in my experience the more British the more rowdy & drunken behaviour. Overall we had a first class holiday and can't fault a thing, we enjoyed every minute! Beth Lyson
Not Bad at all

Stayed at the Louis Colossos for 2 weeks during August this year with my 2 teenagers, girlfriend and my parents, I was nervous as too how the hotel would suit all our needs?? First impressions, very busy hotel! rooms basic and not 4 star, our air conditioning was not working, complained for a few days, then complained to the rite person on the reception and it was sorted same day. its all about who you speak too. Food was very good, kids complained a bit, but thats normal, mums a veggie and she was happy with selection. and there was alot of it. Overall i would reccommend this hotel as a 4 starr Greek all inclusive, you can do alot worse, we enjoyed and have no complaints. P.S. lots of Italians, lots of smoking (theres no non smoking areas).
Excellent hotel

Just returned from the Louis Colossos hotel after spending 8 days there. The hotel is situated right on one of Rhodes most beautiful beaches Near Faliraki and Kalithea. The service and facilities of this hotel is excellent and the hotel manager makes sure that everything is running smoothly with his hands-on approach. Don’t be surprised if he personally serves you the carvery! Lots of fantastic food to choose from in the various restaurants. Every day there is something different to choose from, even Chinese food freshly cooked. The staff is very friendly especially the hotel Bar/Café/Restaurant family, There is also entertainment every night to keep the parents happy which was varied and of a high standard. Don’t be put off by all that you read try it and see for yourself. We would highly recommend this hotel. S.C.

Booked holiday through Thomson Direct , £720 pp for week all inc...not cheap. Rooms/corridors tatty. One room had shower only, other small bath with fixed shower which was ideal for a 4ft person! Beds in both rooms hard as a brick and had to request extra pillows and bath towels(as only given 1 smallish one p.p). Restaurant staff were pleasant, attentive and well organised. Food not as good as Platinum Hotels but having lunch(all inc) was enjoyable and varied. Entertainment in eve as per normal was slapstick drivel although must say The Animation Team who provided children/adult fun activities in and around the pool morning and afternoon really saved the day at this hotel. Their enthusiasm for their work makes up for the other members of staff ie. The female bar staff!!. I have never met such rude/weird staff... They are totally impersonal/ conversing with each other in Greek... and seem to favour serving men rather than women, regardless of the time you wait to be served...you can become invisible...Witnessed a good few irate people who were having trouble being served...had to speak up at least half dozen times just to be served a couple of waters !! You are left feeling that you are asking for something that you're not entitled to...NOT GOOD SERVICE. Lifts are SLOW and tiny and not air conditioned..use stairs if poss. We spoke to Thomson rep who was sympathetic to our complaints of noisey neighbours who repeatedly slammed doors every night from midnight til 4am. We were offered a change of room but had lost faith by that time. Ideal for 18-25 yr olds who want a lively hol/ideal base for Falaraki/clubs etc. Not ideal for a relaxing family holiday.

i stayed here with several friends in july. We booked this hotel in february and were really looking forward to it. The hotel itself is enourmous the biggest on the island and so as you can imagine there are hundreds of people everywhere. My first impression was a good one a nice entrance and a very nice reception area with semi friendly staff. we were told incorrectly where are room was but eventually found it and was very impressed with my magnificent full sea view. My friends had family rooms in the annex buildings nand there promised side sea view room was a building site next door with the sea in the distance but it was really only a bit of the sea. There room smelt of the drains below. We first went to the hotel bar near reception and were treated politely and sat outside with a lovely view of the sea but had to drink our drinks out of tiny plastic glasses. we then went to the pool bar where there were loads of young loud austrians all singing there songs . we met some other english guys who moaned about the hotel and the terrible food. we all said that we were going to make our own minds up about it thought they were just boring negative ppl. the bad points...... in my entire life i have never eaten such revolting food ever. the local kebab shop is a michelin restautant compared to this place. because of the amount of ppl they can not individually make the food so it is all in bulk and discusting. it is all so greasy tasteless food with absolutely no flavour what so ever. there was a huge selection but it wass like eating out of a rubbish bin. we all after the first breakfast never ate there again. the lunch was ok because you had fresh pizza and the salad was ok but dinner was a trajedy. over cooked meat spag bolognese chips meat balls kebabs which tasted off and chicken floating in greese. we only ate here twice and ate out the rest of the time.. it is supposed to be a four star hotel this is a two star with lots of facilities so they thomson bump it up to a pretend four star. the staff speak little english as they are all polish for obv cheap labour and there only ever seemed to be about ten staff in the whole hotel. one member of staff tried to have a fight with us on the beach one evening and that was after walking on seeing ppl having sex on the beach. we over heard one lady saying she found maggots in her salad and glass in her husbands egg. im not surprised at all. one night we got a cab home from a restaurant and the cab driver got impatient how long it took to pay as we were counting coins so we told him to relax and wait a minute . after paying we got out and he went to the boot of his car and got a metal pole out chased my friend and hit him over the head with a pole directly outside of reception and he had to go to hospital and receive 12 stiches. it may seem for someone to do that we must have provocted him but that is not the case at all they are just mad the greek cab drivers. hating the english tourists which seems a bit stupid.... you als have screaming teenagers running up the corridoors at three in the morning banging on your doors. and one night the manger of house keeping called chris a german man told us they threw there own toilet of the balcony as a joke. now when i mean toilet i dont mean number one !!! the good points... the room was nice not luxurious but kept very clean every day with clean towels.. and the view was lovely.. the water sports ppl on the beach were the most friendly offering you free boat rides and local info and were a really good laugh.. tthe hotel as a general look was like the brochure and had two lovely swimming pools and nice big palm trees everywhere. there were lots to do for kids like pool tables arcades and mini disco.. the gym was basic but had two lovely jacuzzis steam room and sauna. the hotel had a taxi rank ouside which was convenient and was in a great central location and was not in main kalithea as advertised it was really in faliraki. i have stayed in amazing five star hotels and terrible one stars in the past but i must say you will not really get great value for money here cause you wont drink that much cause of all the ques for drinks and the tiny plastic cups for all inclu guests and the food is bad but for accomodation and flight its great. i didnt mind not relaxing so the loud music pumped around the pool every day didnt bother me but sometimes i went on the beach which was three euros so it was quieter. there are hundreds of people everywhere.. although it sounds like i hated it i had a good time but i think that was because my friends were so funny not the hotel being great. apart from the food it wasnt bad but i would never go again.. these are all true these events but you are welcome to go into the circus if you want enjoy your holiday c. g
Just Average
from karibu4
I have just had two weeks in the Louis Colossos Hotel, last week in June and first in July. The hotel was quite good. The room was very clean, the staff were hard working, and the food was average. There are three pools which where clean and two of a good size and a third for baby's. It is situated next to the beach which has seats with brollies but these had to be paid for. There were no seat covers provided. Also you have to provide your own beach towel. There is a bus stop just outside which makes it handy for jouneys to Rhodes or wherever. The entertainment during the day was very good by this animation team, but on the evening, for the adults, it was the worst I have ever seen. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never experienced anything as bad as that. The team worked hard but it was just childish and pathetic. Neadless to say, I will not be going back to this hotel again.
Nice but could be better!

Nice hotel, the food is lovely with plenty of choice. The staff are friendly enough we had a lovely room which was very clean spacious and air conditioned. However the hotel wasnt without its faults, other guests we chatted to informed us of their family room with food left under the beds and a sink hanging loose from the wall. When the couple complained to the hotel they were told the sinks were like that in every room, not acceptable for a family hotel. Both myself and my partner are in our early 20s and went to this hotel for a relaxing break together, which we got. However Brits beware this hotel only has 50 English couples booked into it for the summer season, the rest are German and Italian. We had some problems from the germans as although the hotel claims to be for families and romantic couples when we arrived, so did a gang of 15 teenage germans who did there best to cause as much disruption around the hotel as possible. The noise and disruption didnt bother us as we stayed well away, but many guests were complaining as they were running round at night playing knock and run aswell as kicking peoples sunbeds around the pool. If you wish for a sunbed you need to be up at six other wise you will have to use the hotel beach where there is a charge of 3 Euros per bed per day. Overall the hotel was o.k however the two hotels either side of the lois look much better. The hotel was let down by the large numbers of young people who made the hotel feel a little like a faliraki hotel for yobs rather than a family one.
Fantastic Hotel

The view from the balcony has a wow factor looking over the pool and the sea - would have been better if we could enjoy the view while sitting down enjoying a glass of wine but the balcony wall is to high. The staff are friendly. We stayed on the AI deal which allowed us to eat & drink as much as we could when we wanted. On alternate days we enjoyed b-b-q by the beach. There was a sea breeze most days which kept a lid on the temperatures which soared to 35C in the day and 25C in the evening, we saw lilos blown out across the sea which are now probably on another continent so be aware if children are swimming with them. The entertainment put on by the "animacion" team was 2nd rate and geared for the children. We made use of the Central Bar which was virtually child free where you can sit on the balcony and watch the entertainment and look over the pool area and to Faliraki. The beds are hard but the pillows are plump but soft. Some rooms have a washing line in the bathroom but not all and there is nowhere on the balcony to put up your own probably because of the strong sea breeze. Try their rice pudding its lush. They serve roast pork with mint sauce!! Tea and biscuits/cakes between 4.30-5.30pm and sandwiches for supper. Lunch boxes were poor. There are a small selection of shops just across the road with a bar and a restaurant but if you turn left out of the hotel and walk 15-20 minutes there is a precinct where the chemist, shops including ones that sell fur/leather coats, jewellry, nic nacs etc.bars and cafes. The Tchu Tchu train or Wally Trolley can be joined from here that takes you to Kalithea or Faliraki for 4 or 5 Euros each. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, timetable from reception, with busses to Faliraki (a mini Blackpool), Rhodes, Lindos for a fraction of the cost of the reps. tours e.g 1.70 Euros to Rhodes. You are crammed on like sardines and a man collects the fare after you have got on the bus he squeezes through the passengers. We visited Rhodes, Lindos & the valley of the butterflies which is unsuitable for the less mobile and prams/pushchairs because of the steps it a bit cooler because of the shade from the trees but take some drinking water. Androula one of the receptionist speaks good english and can share a wealth of useful information if asked, her daughter Ellena usually greets you on entry into the restaurant. There is a water park with the biggest rides in europe just outside the hotel which costs 20 euros each for an all day pass pay at the park. There are two different companies offering boat trips/cruises for 3 hours or all day which pick up outside the hotel at 8am. Take plenty of mosquito repellant we had been bitten and some bites turned into nasty blisters and visitng the chemist to have them sorted was 22 euros for consultation and treatment. The beach is sandy but in the seawater it is shingle/pebbles. The sand is very hot.
going back next year

This was the best week we have ever had. We are going back with the family next year. There are so many good points about this hotel and yes, a couple of bad but they are so minor it is hardly worth a mention (apart from entertainment). The hotel itself is definately a 4 star, had a wander in a couple of 3 stars in the town and you can certainly notice the difference. For all you whingers about not getting near the pool and having to get up at 6am to put your towel on a sunbed, why didnt you just do the simple thing of walking the long distance of 20 metres and hire a sunbed on the beach for 3 euros or better still, lay your towels on the beach for free. The beach is shingle mixed with sand so make sure you have some flip flops. The pools are amazing, never busy and a lot warmer than the sea. The sea, once you are in is that clear you can see lots of little fishies swimming about. If you are fussy eaters like me then it will seem like you have just won a golden ticket to willie wonkers chocolate factory. There is so much choice at every meal. There was not one day when i never came back with at least 4 different types of meat on my plate. If you like pizza, you will be in heaven. For all you fitties that do salad, there is lots of choice for you too. There is lots of activities going on around the pool areas and down on the beach to keep and kids and parents entertained. Such as water polo, beach volleyball, water aerobics (sounds painfull). There is plenty of drinks on offer but you must be patient in getting served. They have no concept of serving people who had been there longer. It got very frustrating. Order 3 drinks at a time, doesnt seem as bad then.Tip for during the day, get your drinks from the beach bar, it is self service and never a queue. Right, the entertainment on the evening. Mmmmm, amatuerish springs to mind. It is just basically the entertainment staff miming and doing lots of random gags which i never got the punchline of. This was the only bad point but dont let it put you off. It is a laugh just laughing at them. We made friends with a quality family from Bury who have the same oppinions as ourselves on the hotel. Respect to the Bolton massive and cant wait to see you all soon. (for a couple of pints). Hope this report will influence you to go as you will not be dissappointed.
