We have stayed in 3star apartments in greece before, and compared to sum, it was good. The family that run it was very friendly and helpful, including the young son and older nephew of the lady that ran the bar resturaunt. (i'm embarrased that i don't remember their names).... more

Jul 2011, Astounded Guests

We researched the Achousa Hotel, Faliraki to ensure it was far away from the centre of Faliraki and quiet. What we read was that it was "On the outskirts of Faliraki with nearby bars, cafes & shops, near to the beach, a quiet location, suitable for couples and families". ... more

Me and the missus got there and there was pooh in our rooms sink. The toilet was backed up and Marge had to use one in the next room as she is a big girl. The next day we complained and they cleaned it. We went down the street and got an English breakfast for 3 euros. It... more

The Achousa Is in an ideal location, quiet by day and not far from the nightlife(7 Euros into town 5 Euros back). Rooms are very basic but I advise you to get air-con(50 Euros p/w) because at night it gets a bit hot. Friendly staff and the food isn't bad on site. Good... more

what a nightmare
we arrived there in the dark, when we got to our room all the electrics blew we were left standing on the landing for ages waiting for someone to fix it. The kitchen was disgusting, the kettle did not switch off at all, there was one very large saucepan and one greasy frying pan, no tin opener, and only 2 rings to cook on, there was no other cooking equipment at all. we also had no hot water at all for the whole stay of our holiday of 14 days even after complaining both night and day, the bed were filthy, urine stains both on the mattresses and also on what was supposed to be clean sheets, the bathroom had a small shower witch we had to tie up with rope and use with our lovely cold water, the carpets look like they have never been hoovered and the place was absolutely filthy, the pool was kept clean for the first week, but by the second week it was cloudy and you could not even see the bottom of the pool the staff were not helpfull at all, then to top it all off we were rudely shouted at by the pool to get out of our room now by one of there cleaning staff over a balcony in front of other guests. i would never recommed this place to anyone ever
The worst hotel ever.....
Well what can I say. Me and my girlfriend have just returned back from the Achousa...what can I say...! Before I start I must add that Rhodes is a lovely island and well worth a visit despite all the bad publicity that it has received over the years! However, with the Achousa avoid this like the plague. The hotel is terrible and the worst that I have ever stayed in. The bedrooms are disgusting, the carpets have not been cleaned or hoovered for years. As for the bathrooms they are in severe need of modernisation with the toilet, showers etc leaking. The towels are dirty and all of the bed sheets are disgusting. The cooking facilities are terrible and all of the appliances are either faulty or at the best very dirty. Around the hotel I agree with all the recent reports the poor area is dirty, with broken lights loose wires not enough sun beds etc. On the ceiling near the reception we saw cockroaches on numerous occasions. The air conditioning is about 80 euros for 2 weeks which is very expensive. At reception I asked them many times to clean the room and the attitude was terrible and generally nothing ever got done... The hotel is in severe need of modernisation and I am sure that this website will only grow with negative reports as the 2 weeks that we stayed every one was very unhappy... Please think twice about booking this hotel. If you want to it can be booked through their own web page for about 6 Euro's a night which is cheap but for the standard of it still a rip off! Thanks
disgracefully dreadful
This hotel is awful. we are a couple in our early forties and arrived at this hotel begining of August 2006 to find the place was filthy. the bathroom was filthy, (see photo) the rooms are very small and very very basic. the cooking facilities if you can call them that are minimal. we arrived to a very dirty room. with dirty cooking facilities(remainer of mouldy egg on frying pans.) the fridge was broke and dirty. we also shared the room with the local ant farm. The room was only cleaned after we complaind to the rep that we had someone elses toenails on the carpet. the towels were only changed once a week and the bins emptied twice a week. Olympic advertise this hotel as a 3 star (note the 3 flames) not to be confused. it has no star rating at all but just the 3 flames. the local charge which was suposed to be minimal for air conditioning is 85 euros for the 2 weeks (not cheap). the pool area is dirty and hardly cleaned, the filters in the pool dont work properly, there are aparent dangers all around the pool area. this include slimey steps into pool, rusty screws sticking up in childrens pool area, barrier between the small pool and main pool was broken and very jaggered, some the underwater lights in the pool were out of there sockets and hanging by the wires. The main bar area at the front of the hotel is really bad the chairs are either broken, dirty, without covers or the ones with covers are all filty and ripped.(see photo)There is a 24 hour shop but double the price of the local supermarket. The rep did as much as he could but if you are not willing to pay for an upgrade then you will have to stay put. its far enough out of the centre to be quiet with some nice tavernas on the way. we suggest you try Sizzlers if you love a great steak fab restaurant. the beach is also a great place to be very clean and shallow water. overall avoid at all cost no matter how cheap it is offered.
Absolute Nightmare
This was the WORST holiday that we have ever had. I would not even give it 1 circle. We were told 3.5 stars. 1star is giving that place more credit that what is due. We were told that this would be ideal for a young family. Not in the centre of Faliraki, a nice quiet secluded area to relax with the children. We were there for 2 weeks and by the middle of the first week we couldnt wait to get home. We hated the room, it was dirty, smelled of smoke from the previous guests, had water marks all around the bath and the sink, the toilet had not been cleaned, the kitchenette was a disaster the tap did not work, the cooker took 2 hours to heat and to make things worse they have bed-bugs. After the first night, my husband and my twin boys were complaining about being very itchy all over. We all had bite marks all over our bodies. We later found out that this was due to bed-bugs. We tried to stay out of the room as much as possible. We thought the pool area was nice. A little pool sectioned off for the twins, great we thought. Some of the other guests decided to use the childrens pool and barrier to play volleyball. So they children were forced out of the childrens pool for adults to play in. The language was diabolical, all of the time there was swearing and lots of drinking pool side. Our rep was not caring, she was more interested in getting more money from us to change to a different hotel. We refused to pay so we were stuck into a different room. This time we were at the front of the hotel , with a pool view instead of the back of the hotel. This room had a better view, we looked directly over the pool instead of at solid rock. After we were moved the problems got worse and worse. Loud music all day every day, rude drunk guests swearing in front of the children, smoking in the elevator, littering and generally being a nuisance. After 8 days we were shattered with having to ask the rep everyday when we can move, having no sleep as the guests were playing very loud music all night long. The staff at the hotel were all useless at helping. They refused to ask the other guests to be quieter. Eventually we paid 600Euros to move hotel. By that time the boys had picked up ear infections and chest infections from being in the pool. The whole hotel was dirty. I suggest that if you want to stay in someone elses dirty room, with their urine still on the bathroom floor and dirty toilets then this is the hotel of your dreams if not i STRONGLY suggest choose somewhere else.
great holiday!!!!
stayed here for 2 weeks in june '05..had a great hoilday and a great stay at the achousa apartments..our hotel room was clean, and the people and staff were very friendly..thanks guys!!!!
Fantastic holiday
We went to the Achousa by mistake! We should have been in Corfu not Rhodes but its a long story!! Our travel agent had been the rep there the year before so we decided to give it a go. The hotel was friendly and the staff were nice. The cleaners were very keen to clean your room. We were room only but often had food and drink by the pool. It was very reasonable and very good quality. Water was 35 cents. As we walked down town to we used to stop in the Alabama bar for a drink (and a breather). Local beer was 1 euro a pint. The hotel will order taxis if required. They are fairly cheap. Minimum fare was 5 euros at the time. The pool was great for adults and children alike. Restaurants in the town were very variable. Mostly good quality, cheap food. We ate out for the whole two weeks from brekkie to bedtime. It was a fantastic holiday.
A lovely hotel
We booked a last minute deal to Rhodes - allocation on arrival and our hearts sank when we were told that we were going ot Falaraki. But as soon as the coach pulled up to the Achousa our worries disappeared. The staff were so friendly and the hotel was in excellent condition. Hotels in Greece are always fairly basic, and this hotel was no exception. However, the hotel was clean, friendly and had everything we needed and is the best hotel that I have stayed in in Greece. The hotel is a good distance from the hustle and bustle of the main town, which I saw as an advantage because it allowed us to have a quiet nights sleep which we wouldn't have got if we were in the middle of the town. The downside is that there is quite a long walk into Falaraki and to the beach, but the hotel are happy to call a taxi for you if you prefer not to walk. If you are looking to go to Rhodes then I would recommend this hotel. BUT - if you are looking to go to Falaraki for a big pary hol - then the distance from the town may spoil your fun alittle.
fantastic
i had a fantastic time here at the achousa! the people are lovely so friendly and helpful. the hotel rooms were basic but were cleaned every day. wat i liked the most is that the bar stays open till the last person goes . . .even if its gone 6 am in the morning! charlie the bar man is lovely. also the pool area was nice and the snack bar serves decent food especially breakfasts in the morning! id recommend this hotel to all ages . . . it suits all ages more so the fact that its got its own private road and is away from all the noise of the centre. im definitly back next year!!
Loved The Achousa
I went to the Achousa in Aug 2004 and it was lovely. Food was good, staff was nice and the hotel itself was only a short stroll from the centre of Faliraki. I went with a group of friends and we all loved it. The pool was cleaned everyday as was our rooms. Would recommend this hotel to a group of young adults.
Can i give this less than one circle rating?
If you like urine and tobacco stained unvacumned carpets, head banging music all afternoon from the pool area and a generally run down building, then this is the palce for you! Otherwise - forget it! We went with Olympic holidays on a last minute deal and although it was cheap, the rep was a nightmare, seemed more interested in flirting with staff than sorting out problems. faliraki was Ok - not like we had anticipated and, being a bit out of season (sep 2003), not overrun with drunken yobs. Rhodes town is great, scenery great, Achousa a s--th--e!
