OK but there must be nicer places..
from castleton
Typical 60s small tower block hotel, feeling a bit tired & naff despite the refurbishment. New decor (depending on taste) is a bit tacky - 'glitzy' neon lights in the bar, laminate wooden floors in the bedrooms and a very strange mock chrome 'grab bar' along the bed head... nice! Had the same experience as a previous reviewer with noises through thin bedroom walls... and the 1960s lift with painted-over etched graffiti on the door has to be seen! The free wifi was not working on my floor during my stay and the lad on reception could not have...

getting better
from NHNHNH
i stayed in this hotel before and it was horrible, but supposedly its been bought out by a large group and i must admit they have done wonders with the place. with my work im travelling alone, with my laptop constantly on use so when i was told i had to stay here bad memorys took over. however when stepping into the hotel, the reception looked like it belonged to a 4* hotel, although smaller, looked the part. Also i noticed hey have a new bar lounge area to relax in, which i must say is beautiful, it had a nice atmosphere on the first...

refurbishment? hmmm?
from demble
im currently staying at the chasley for a week on business. apparently the hotel has recently undergone refurbishment, although I am yet to see evidence of it anywhere but reception! my room is a twin room, one bed a foot lower than the other. Room amenities include: colour tv with no remote, the buttons on which do not work, en suite bathroom with damp/dry rot and a toilet that seems to fill itself with waste from everyone elses toilet every time it is flushed! nice! I also get free access to the sounds of next doors lovemaking, a...

Would stay again
from yonnalej
Stayed here one night in March to see The Cribs homecoming at the Escobar, conveniently situated litterally next door. The room was great, although it was really hot with the seemingly impossible to turn off central heating... which was a pain when trying to go to sleep, as leaving the windows open brought inside the sirens of a city centre Saturday night. The bathroom looked brand new and was absolutely spotless! Some of the hallways were a bit eerie... and a trip in the lift is certainly not for the light hearted. On another good note...

This hotel and staff made our wedding day fantastic
from woody48
We booked our wedding here for the 24 Feb 2007, and a lot of our guests stayed over. Our wedding was day was fab, the room was made perfect for us to get married there, cordinated in our colour theme. The meal was good as was the evening buffet with plenty of it. The staff could not do enough for us and I have to say the toastmaster (Antony) was very heplful. Marie dealt with our booking from the start and put any of our reservations we had out of our minds. I would recommend anyone getting married to have a look and see what...

BE WARNED!
from angelofcharlie24
I stayed at this hotel while on a business trip and i was not impressed. When we arrived in the afternoon the hotel was freezing, on asking the reception staff what was going on we were told 'the manager went on a power trip yesterday and made us turn the heating off!' We were assured however that the heating had now been switched on and would soon warm up. This was not the case. We returned to the hotel in the evening after going for a meal and it was still freezing (it had also been snowing!). We were at this point informed that due to the...

i am quiet flattered to be called young as at the ripe old age of 45 i didnt think i was out of my depth.my manager would have deffinately not turned of the heating although we did have a problem with one of the boilers going down which was rectified within a day or so.We have people passing comments about a refurbishment been needed but when we do start we have complaints about the builders being here so we are in a no win situation .SO COME ON CUSTOMERS GIVE US A BREAK and come and see are new refurbished bedrooms im sure you will be impressed.
Dated but adequate
from CCC22
Soundproofing bad - heard next room banging their bed in the night, loud grunting and the person swearing loudly. Had to ring and complain to reception. They were very helpful and we got a VIP pass to the best nightclub in town. It is noisy Saturday night with clubbers but as oldies we were able to join in and really enjoyed it. Needs some updating and better soundproofing

I first knew of Chasley Hotel when we had our christmas party this year from a work place. The building looked quite old but inside it was okay as the staff at the reception were friendly and helpful as when we were on the wrong floor they took us to the place that we were supposed to be at, the room we were having at party at was beautifully decorated in christmas decorations but there were two problems the vegetables weren't very nice as they were hard especially the sprouts and when we ordered 8 bottles of white wine we expected it to be...

What a mess
from A TripAdvisor Member
ive never seen such a dump in all my life, the only up-to-date thing about it was the restaurant and that woz getting quite old,the dining chairs were all shabby, the beds were king size but the duvet covers were two single ones, the ironing board covers were all torn, the hair dryer must have been about 50 years old,the lift woz dodgy,i booked a non smoking room and i was put on the 4th floor which was the smokin floor and the room woz stinking of smoke, the staff were nice so at least thats a plus and thats the only one
What a complete dump !

Stayed here to attend a wedding nearby, picked this place as it was central. BIG mistake ! It was dirty, old fashioned, round the back of a shop car park, looked like a block of council flats. Staff were slovenly and apathetic. Looked like there had been a brawl in reception when we came down in the morning, broken glass everywhere. Could not use the lift as some idiots were using it to transport furniture between floors ! I'd rather have slept in the car. Recommend you stay at the M1 service area instead.

As a staff memeber of The Chaslye Hotel I would like to invite you back and try us again.
We have currently undergone refurbishment and find some of these comments unjustified
