Waterton Park Hotel

I visit the Waterton Park Hotel every six months for a meeting we regularly hold within the industry I work in. The service has always been impeccable and the food very good. The conference facilities they offer are very good. The rooms I have been allocated in the past have all been very good with one exception. I was allocated a room on the ground floor of the new building. Had the best nights sleep in a peacful location and was just sorry that we hadn't arrived earlier and couldn't stay any later to enjoy the relaxing feel of this hotel. Friendly staff always around to help. We were lucky enough to be allocated a room in the house on the lake and only a short walk over the bridge for a lovely breakfast. We didn't have a chance to use any of the facilities, swim in the pool or eat in the main restaurant but would recommend to anyone wishing to get away from it all without going too far !!! To be honest it was a long time ago when I was last here before booking this time. I had attended a friends wedding there and to all intents and purposes she had a fabulous day. Wanting a quiet relaxing break, my partner and I booked the Waterton. Things like the views (guarranteed golf course or lake views) and the ambience of Walton Hall made us want to stay there. We were amazed when driving down the long approach to the Hotel, to see in West Yorkshire this magnificient old house sat on an isaland surrounded by water. The staff were friendly and helpful, this was a suprise for our anniversary, we had a wonderful 4-poster room overlooking the old hall and bridge, the room was very luxurious, we had champagne and flowers in the room, at night we strolled over the bridge to the restaurant in the hall, it was all very romantic, dinner was great and the service very attentative. Stayed for two nights from 28th jan 2006 to 30th. Good Points: massive room, big Bathroom, bath and shower, room service, nice pool, jaccuzi, steam room, sauna, gym, good food, friendly staff, excellent service. Definitely the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I stayed here for a wedding reception and had one of the executive bedrooms. Four poster bed, bath I could fit in (I'm 5'11") and the best staff I have ever encountered. They all seemed genuinely pleased that you were there. No sign of the fake "have a nice day" syndrome that seems in inflict some chain hotels, they were all eager to help. When we got married on Christmas Eve 1993 - we couldn't afford to go away for the night! My husband planned our stay as a surprise for my birthday, he booked the champagne special. This included use of a four poster room, a wonderful five course dinner, chocolates, champagne and a huge bunch of flowers all of which were waiting for us on arrival. The room was wonderfully presented on the top floor with views of both the bridge and the lake. I did not get a wink's sleep during my stay at Waterton Park Hotel. My executive room on the first floor of the new building facing the car park is extremely noisy. Disco music from a wedding did not finish till 2pm, followed by guests leaving and chatting on the way out; followed by drunken yobbos chanting and swearing in their rooms. As one thought it eventually quietened down at 4am, the cleaning team arrived hauling out dustbins and waste, followed by delivery from the hotel's laundry service.
