Ghastly Rooms
This place is really not terribly congenial. Book it if you like tiny, terribly hot, bedrooms with no aircon. Or perhaps you like a view of a roof apex, and incredibly hard beds; if so, you'll love it here. We loathed it.
Great Staff, shame about the Hotel
We booked a stay via the laterooms website and chose an Executive Twin Bedroom. The hotel was difficult to find as our sat nav sent us in the wrong direction but a quick call to the reception and we soon found our way. We arrived around 9.20pm at night and was greeted by a very friendly and professional receptionist. There was a slight difficulty in finding our booking but we given our key for room 8. I told the receptionist I was disappointed that I had no response to my request on my booking form to email me a copy of the menu so i... more
Great Hotel
Stayed here over a weekend in october, and had a excellent stay. Staff were helpful and freindly, hotel was clean and had just gone under a refurbishment and I was very impressed. Breakfast and meals also very good, and at a good price, will stay here again.
Cheap and cheerful. Ok for a stopover.
Stayed here when attending a friends wedding nearby. It did the job for us. Nice bar area. Unfortunately not open late when we were there. Rooms were a bit cramped and smelled very damp. But nice and quiet. Breakfast was ok. Good buffet. Standard was good for a cheaper hotel, but the dining room was very hot from the heatlamps from the buffet - this needs sorting. The girl on reception was really friendly when we checked in and helpful when our taxi didnt turn up. (Sat 18th August evening shift)
Fawlty Towers
Booked out at 11.58 or so. Queried the bill because they didn't have the receipts for the bill that totalled to the Hotel Receipt. Got a new bill then because it was after 12.00pm I was then charged a late room fee of £55.00. Much to the delight of the girl behind the counter. Going to take them to the small claims court. They are denying this happened. They said they had CCTV footage of me going mental (I pointed my finger!). Food is very bland and service was generally not that good. Why was everyone miserable behind the counter.... more
Expensive for a 3 star
We stayed here for a wedding and apparently got a reduced rate for the double room with breakfast, but it still cost £59.50 which was over priced for the 3 star that it was. The hotel is clean and well looked after although I personally think if they're going to charge that amount of money for the rooms they need to revamp the decor and bump it up to a 4 star. The room was clean and big but plaster was hanging off the wall above the bath and the furniture was very dated. The view from our particular room was a roof going upwards... more
Best Hotel In Wakefield
This is my first stay at this hotel, normally I stay at Cedar Court, they were full, so thought I would give this hotel a try. Set in a very nice area, just a few minutes drive from M1 motorway. The hotel has been fully refurbished, and of a very high standard, excellent bedrooms and they were very clean. We decided to dine in the hotel, and the food was also excellent at a very reasonable price. Staff was very helpful and friendly and very accommodating. Added bonus of free internet. This was a real find, I am... more
Fantastic
I have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past, and the hotel was of a good standard. However on my last visit I noticed there have been a lot of changes and updates to the hotel, including a new bar lounge resulting in an excellent hotel and excellent customer service from staff. I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Wakefield area.
breakfast room badly organised
Although the hotel room was superb clean and tidy really excellent!!! The hotel was very badly let down at breakfast - we had to clear a table to sit down, lay the table ourselves and then ask 4 times for a pot of tea - staff kept saying someone else would come soon! Totally atrocious standards of customer service.
Very Nice Hotel
Myself and my wife stayed here for a couple of days, during a freinds wedding. The hotel is set in a very nice and prestige area of wakefield, with beautiful surroundings near Newmillerdam Lake. The staff and service was very good, and bedrooms were of a good standard. The wedding day was fantastic, and well orgainsed, and staff made the day memorable for the bride and groom, and guests. The night before the wedding we ate food in the restaurant and it was well presented, and good value for money. If anyones thinking... more
