I know Travelodge is a budget chain but that doesn't mean getting away with the following. Travelodge Harrogate has no parking. The nearest car park charges TEN POUNDS to park there for a few hours. You are not warned of this when you book. You are warned that there may be... more

Loved It!
I'm a young partier! I live in Harrogate and my boyfriend lives in Hull, we went out for a night into Harrogate clubbing and pub crawling etc and as my house was full of family staying over we paid to stay in the hotel for a night as we got a deal and paid £25 for a night, for us it was cheaper than paying for taxis all over the place and alot easier for us to go and crash into bed when the night came to an end. As the reception is open 24hours we were able to come in at around 4am and not have to walk far from the clubs or pay to get a taxi as the hotel is on the same street as all the main clubs. It was one of the best nights we have had for a while as we were just able to come in when needed. Deffinately a night that will be repeated very soon!
Nice hotel but the noise was unbearable
This hotel is modern, clean and spacious and good value for money. However the noise from 10.30pm onwards is dreadful. We went with our 2 children aged 10 and 4 and ended up watching TV half of the night to drown out the noise from outside. There was constant booming music into the early hours and noise from people coming and going from bars which included shouting and screaming until all hours. We spoke to reception but the hotel was full and they couldn't move us. They are well aware of the problem and asked us to fill in a hotel form as they are collating them to file a complaint. It's a shame about the noise because it's a really nice hotel and very close to the shops and restaurants.
Too much noise
The hotel has agreat location in the centre of town but no car park. As mentioned in other reviews, the nightclub opposite is very noisy and because the window handles were broken it was even noiser than it would have been so we didn't manage to get to sleep until after 2am. I would recommend it during the week but not on a Fri or Sat. I sent an email to travelodge stating that I thought they should warn customers on the website but they never bothered to reply.
very noisy
Stayed in this hotel in Feb 2007. Arrived on the Friday night and noticed a bar directly across the road from the Hotel. I asked for a room at the rear to avoid any noise and was told by the receptionist 'It wont matter, we have 2 bars behind us too' My wife and I experienced a weekend were it was very noisy, not just a bit noisy, until around 3am on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night! If you are thinking of visiting Harrogate on a weekend, do not stay in this hotel if you want any sleep. Apart from that, Harrogate was lovely!
Good value break
Stopped at the Harrogate Travelodge for 2 nights on 18 and 19th Jan. Booked a special offer directly with Travelodge, managing to get the first night for £15 and the second night for £39. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get both nights for the cheaper price, but overall £54 for 2 nights room only accommodation, is still excellent value for Harrogate. Hotel is very well placed, just a few minutes walk to the shopping area and next to the Turkish baths – which, unfortunately, we didn't get chance to visit. The hotel website does say noise problems can be experienced from the nearby pubs, although we didn’t have any experience of noise. There is no hotel parking, although there are two pay and display car parks very near which are recommended by the hotel. We decided to park in an alternative multi storey car park about 5 minutes walk away (West Park) which was considerably cheaper (£4.20 for 24 hours against £10 in the car park adjacent to the hotel) Check in was very easy and the staff were very helpful. The room was large sized and very clean, it was also one of the brightest hotel rooms we have stayed in (it seems usual for most hotel rooms to be very poorly lit for some strange reason!). We didn’t have breakfast, but there is a Wetherspoons next to the hotel which serves a very good value breakfast. Whilst in Harrogate we visited Brimham Rocks (National Trust), which are dramatic natural rock formations about a 30 minute drive away and well worth a visit. We also drove to How Stean Gorge, however, despite the tourist information advice indicating the site was open daily we discovered the gorge is only open at weekends in January. We did manage to have a walk around, (although not go fully into the gorge) and would suggest that would also be a good place to visit. Food wise, we had a cheap pub meal (2 meals for £5.99) at Wetherspoons which was excellent value and also visited Rajput Indian Restaurant and Salsa Posada Mexican both of which were very good. If able to get a cheap deal would definitely stay here again.
Not bad
The hotel is sited on a hill of a one way street. You cannot turn into the street from Parliament Street. The car park at the bottom of the hill is £1.00 per hour no concessions for hotel users.Charges everyday and wardens do issue ticket. Make sure you read the notice. Wetherspoons PH in the car park is good value for money has a no smoking area. The club opposite can be noisy on Saturday night. There is a multistorey carpark behind Debenhams good value for overnight parking. Hotel clean and tidy. On the night we stayed we were given a room on the 2nd floor and the lift was not working. Tea making facilities if you need extra of anything just ask reception. Sunday nothing opens until around 11:00am. Only papershop on Sunday was down the bottom of the hill and then to the right opposite the other hotel. Tourist info up the hill turn left Paliament Street left at the lights and its there on the left.
Travelodge hotel
We (my wife and I) have just returned from a 3 day break in Harrowgate. We took my disbled mother who is wheelchair bound. Travelodge are offering rooms for £26 per night and therefore we booked Mon to Wednesday. The hotel is excellent, right in the centre of town. The reception staff are helpfull. The rooms are clean and tidy, although the beds are very soft and springy. We booked adjacent rooms, one being a disabled room. I had read previous reviews that it can be noisy because there is a JD Wetherspoons pub right behind the hotel, but because our trip was Mon to Wed it was the exact opposite i.e. the JD's is a lovely building (the old Winter Gardens) and we had a meal on Tues night which was very good and great value for money. Beer starts at £1.58 a pint for a wide selection of real ales. The hotel can deliver a continental breakfast to your room for £4, but if you walk the 50 mtrs from the hotel to JD's they do a good value breakfast. The car parking is right at the hotel but there is a charge (I think £1 per hour) As we had a disabled parking badge however there was no charge. There is another multi storey and lit car par which is approximately 1/2 a mile away which I believe is cheaper. Harrowagte itself is a lovely old Victorian town with and quality shops and a wide selection of reastaurants. A trip to Betty's tea room is recommended, although expensive for tea and scones (£6.50) it is a one off trip back in time with good waitress service. One note of caution however is that it is very hilly. I pushed my mother in a wheelchair for three days and although not a great problem, be aware if you have to push buggies or wheelchairs there is a bit of effort required. Overall then excellent, nowithstanding that had we gone over a weekend the probable noise from JD's could be annoying (we sleep with the windows open and even without the pub noise there is a constant noise from industrial air condition units on adjoining buildings) Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and it is likely to be quieter.
Clean, Modern & Central
A superbly located hotel - right next to Wetherspoons & Revolution bars. Great if you're on a leisure break (like us) but not perhaps on business. It's clean, modern and the rooms are bright and fresh. I'm not a fan of the fixed head Travelodge showers however but I can live with it for £26 a night promotional rates. Parking is questionable. There is a pay and display car park right next to the hotel but we fed £5 into the meter at 9pm expecting the ticket to be validated until 12 noon but it was only valid until 8am. A fault with the meter perhaps. We checked with reception and left a note on the windscreen. They need to sort something out with the local council for special rates. Otherwise, a great place to stay.
good value
For a no-frills business stay, it was spot on - the rooms were spacious and immaculatlely clean - the bed was comfortable, and the room was warm. It has a very small reception area, with friendly and helpful staff. Our room was at the back of the hotel, and we found it very quiet - except for the rattle of bottles from the early morning rubbish collection from Wetherspoons which is right behind it. It is so convenient for those wishing to see the centre of Harrogate, and the exhibition centre is only a couple of hundred yards away - a 2 minute dander! I give it a thumbs up - the only draw back is that there are no hairdriers or irons in the room - we had to go down and get one at the reception - it would have been nice to have them already in the room for conveniece. That was only a small thing which certainly wouldn't stop me from recommending it.
Technical nightmare
The room was ok, and check-in very smooth. Unfortunately there is a nightclub opposite, and the early hours of the morning you will find you will be awoken by very noisy happy people. There is also a carpark directly next to the hotel and you tend to hear cars roaring off in the night. My biggest problem was with the telephone. They are using an outsourced company to run the phones, operated by a swipe of a credit card. I operated my first call no problem, but when trying to phone to speak to someone else I kept getting an automated response saying the credit card was not a recognised one for this phone (strange). I eventually got through to customer services who said they would 'log a call' I told then I wasn't an office worker with all day to wait about for a call to be logged but needed to use the phone. My only alternative was to go to reception and use their landline. I had a baby who was poorly and I was in a dressing gown, I couldn't reach reception and it was a nightmare. Eventually when I got to reception the chap there was very nice and helpful and allowed me to use the phone, but I think companies that go too far on the technical side risk alienating clientelle if they can't have back up procedures to connect a customer if their system fails. Ok stay but appaulling customer services for the telephones (will teach me to let my mobile battery go low!)
