This was a really beautiful hotel. When you approach it, it looks like a cube dropped down on a plot of land, but inside is really lovely. Being near to Christmas, 28/12/07, there were loads of Christmas trees and all the rooms we went in (for a wedding) were beautifully decorated with trees etc.
The bedrooms were fantastic, king sized beds, lovely bathrooms (Instant hot water in bath/shower, honestly!! Never had that before!!!) Tea/coffee making, iron and ironing board and trouser press, hair dryer. We even had a personalised welcome on the TV screen, even after changing rooms because I wanted a bath not a shower!
The beds had lovely soft goose down covers plus goose down quilts and pillows, hubby was in seventh heaven, I wasn't so impressed (they are too soft for me) but it really made for a lovely experience.
The only thing I need to warn people about is the minibar. Now, my hubby and I aren't daft, we know minibars are approached with caution but all we did was lift out a couple of cans to look at. The fridge has sensors which(supposedly!!) tells the front desk what we've had out of it, but it makes no allowances for people looking to see what's in it in the first place. We were charged £2.95 for moving a Pepsi can, but to be fair to the hotel, they didn't argue when we questioned it, so it was all ok.
What else can I say, we were at a wedding, so most of it was paid for by the family, but even so the facilities were fantastic, all the various sandwich buffets and the wedding meal itself were unbelievably good, the waiting staff were so friendly and even the public loos were marvellous, lovely soap and hand cream dispensers, blue tangerine, mmmmm lovely smell...
So all in all I would absolutely recommend this hotel for pre flight and any function that needs catering, they definitely have the facilities and organisation, we really enjoyed staying there, mind you, we wouldn't have stayed there two nights if we had been paying for it, luckily, my mother-in-law said she was going to pay for all of us.
At £75 per night for each room, that’s a £300 bill for her but what the hey, we really enjoyed it.
By the way, the breakfast was really worth the money, it was buffet style, cereal, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, and a marvellous hot buffet, bacon, sausage, eggs cooked to order, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, all delicious and as far as I could see, you can just go and help yourself over and over...
In the foyer there is a Costa coffee, (lovely coffee, but a bit dear at £2.70 a small cup).
Mother-in-law was disgusted, and a small shop selling papers etc.
A lovely hotel and really great service from everyone.
I've given this hotel 10/10 because they responded perfectly to the one little quibble we had about the mini bar and everything else was perfect.
