Rubbish customer service
from d0ttyd0t
After a long journey from scotland we really just wanted to go in freshen up and go for a bite to eat. We were given a room when first walking in we could smell the overpowering scent of air freshener, a sign something is trying to be cvered up. On pulling out the sofa bed, we found food, and ciggarette butts, in a non smoking room. One of our party was an asthma sufferer who was having difficulties breathing. After informing the reception, the memberof staff said he would inspect the room and reclean it, however on his return he replied he himself wouldnt sleep there. He told us he would book us into another hotel, which we thought was very good of him. After phoning round a few places, he told us he had booked us into a hotel, that costs £129 a night. We didnt understand why he was letting us know this as we were under the impression that the travelodge was paying, we were wrong. The receptionist then miraculosly found us another room, that was more to our standards. We didn't really want much just a clean place to lay our heads. The TL is situated a bit out of town and isn't within walking distance, of much. No shops around, jus a posh restraunt/supermarket across the car park
Below expectations, & I wasn't even expecting much
from theirishgirl
I stayed here with a group of friends & to be honest all we wanted was a clean, basic place to sleep, we weren't expecting luxury, but the place was really below standard. We had booked three rooms, but upon arrival we were told that only two were available, despite our internet printout confirming the booking. The reception staff were far from apologetic but after a long & heated discussion a room finally 'became available'. But this was just the beginning of our troubles, I could go on forever about the urine soaked sofabed in our room, the cleaner who charged us for storing our bags in a cleaning cupboard (no secure luggage storage available) & pocketed the money (the manager reimbursed us when we queried it), the dog in the room next door barking all night, returning to our rooms after a day shopping to find we had been 'checked out' & our key cards no longer worked... the place is a total joke. As I said, we never expected luxury, but polite staff & a basic level of cleanliness is surely not too much to ask? Take my advice, steer clear of this place & book yourself a hostel, it couldn't be any worse
great place to stay

We stayed for 2 nights 12th to 14th august to visit the safari park and explore a bit of Liverpool. We found the location excellent just a short walk away from the Albert Docks. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the night porter even gave my daughter a card and wrote her name in arabic. The room was lovely with views across the water. The manager had only just taken it over and was keen to improve and recommended lots of places to go. She recommended breakfast at the Dove Design which was really good. Would stay there again
was very good!

I stayed at the travel lodge on the albert dock on the 13th september. i stayed there because it was our work night out in liverpool. the room was lovely an we had amazing views! it was a shame to leave and i have been back 3 times since. its handy to get to the centre and trainstations ect. i was very impressed with the room and the bathroom was very spacious and light. the bedrooms where a lovely size.
Awful
from Cassie234
Asked for a family room, got card key and went up to a urine smelling room, urine all over bathroom floor. A stained tatty old sofa bed with no linen and a small double bed. Left straight away and demanded a refund. For families its a big no-no in my opinion.
Good stay

A good nights stay. Quiet. Staff were fine and helpful. Only a short drive from the Albert Dock which is fascinating. Stayed over for one night on way to Lake District. Ample and fine for a one night stay
Not what was expected
from A TripAdvisor Member
When booking, the website said it was located at Albert Dock. When we arrived, we were told it was Brunswick Dock. We were not aware that there was no lift and therefore had to carry heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. The kettle didn't work in room, tv reception was poor, didn't change sheets at all, one towel for two people, advertised that you got breakfast but there was no restaurant and no restaurant near the hotel, price of hotel was supposed to be 26 pounds a night but ended up being 55 pounds a night. There were tons of hotels way better for the same price. Overall, a huge disappointment when travelling to another country. Would never stay there again and wouldn't recommend.
Take pot luck on truculent staff and noisy rooms

My family have now stayed three times in the Travelodge Liverpool Docks. The first was a pleasure - Travelodge does a good line in comfortable beds. For the second visit, we booked way in advance and requested the same, delightful room we had on our first. We were assured that this was no problem and the request was attached to our booking. Nearer the time, we checked our booking - twice - and confirmed the details. On arrival, however, we were given a different room. That was OK, but we were annoyed that our request had been ignored. We said so on Travelodge's customer satisfaction card and handed it in at Reception. The receptionist that morning also happened to be the person who allocated the rooms. She was most put out by our complaint and made no secret of it. Very shortly afterwards, our third visit was a nightmare. This time we were allocated a disabled room right by the reception entrance. It was the noisiest room we've ever stayed in, anywhere, and we got no sleep that night whatsoever. Weary travellers note - Liverpool revellers arrive back at all hours of the night. And, OF COURSE, we can't help wondering whether the gorgon allocations-lady remembered our name and put us there deliberately. Since there's no point in asking for a particular room and some rooms ensure a sleepless night, there seems very little point in ever visiting this hotel again.
Average

The hotel is quite average. The room was ok. Its not located that near to the Albert Dock - about 20 minute walk and another 20 minutes into town. Staff were quite nice though. We were told that the gates open in the day so that you can walk down the pier to Albert Dock, but this didn't happen. There are no local amenities apart from a petrol station which is just less than 10 minutes away. Average hotel - wouldn't stay there again unless everywhere else was fully booked.
Bad experience at Travelodge Liverpool Docks and City Centre
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I booked a stay at Travelodge, Liverpool docks for the 24th April 2005 several months in advance. We travelled from Glasgow to Liverpool City Centre and then via taxi to Travelodge Liverpool Docks. We were told on arrival that we would not be able to stay because the hotel was overbooked. We were informed that alternative accommodation was arranged for us at the Hanover Hotel in Liverpool City Centre. There were a couple of problems with this. 1. We specifically booked a room at Liverpool Dock Travelodge as it was more or less adjacent to the function we were attending that evening therefore we would not have to worry about transport to and from the venue which can be problematic on weekend nights. 2. We happen to know that the “Hanover Hotel” is a late night bar and live band venue which does bed and breakfast. Not where we wanted to stay. When we requested to speak to a manager either on duty or by telephone there were none available. After a conversation with your call centre we were “found” accommodation at the City Centre Travelodge. The Liverpool Dock receptionist was very helpful and apologetic and arranged for a taxi to transport us back to the city centre but was unable to reimburse us for the extra expense in the way of taxi fares that we have incurred due to the “overbooking” situation. The City Centre Travelodge was mostly full of young clubbers one of whom decided to set fire to a hall carpet around 4.30am. As a result we found ourselves in the main lobby until the Fire Brigade had inspected the damage and cleared the smoke away. No reassurances or directions were given by the reception at any time during this incident. We were obliged to ask a fireman if it was OK to return to our rooms. Guests from other floors had already returned. We find this rather worrying. But Travelodge head office obviously do not since we have had no response from our letter of complaint dated 28th April 2005 in which we requested reimbursement of taxi fares incurred as a result of Travelodge failure to honour our confirmed booking.

This is your typical Travelodge - it’s clean and cheap and that’s about it! If you are looking for luxury, then I should go somewhere else, but it is perfectly serviceable, and as I say cheap. It is a good 20 minute walk from the centre of town, so again if you are... more
