Taj Airport Garden Hotel

Visited in the hotel for one night before our departure flight from Sri Lanka. Rooms: The hotel is pretty old, still the room we got was ok, the shower is pretty old. The main problem we encountered is mosquitoes, we where bitten repeatedly (even in the restorant). We have asked the front desk to do something about it, they send someone to clean & check the room but it had no effect on the bites we got. Having been unavoidedly delayed in Colombo we needed to find a hotel near the airport. Colombo itself is a good 70 minutes drive away. The Taj Airport Garden Hotel was our choice. It is a 1970's highrise hotel - small bathrooms - average sized rooms - nothing special. The public areas are well overdue for a renovation - very tired. The restaurants - ok - nothing special. The staff were just so willing to please. Nothing was a problem - they were genuinely seeking to please,and not doing so with expectations of an immediate (cash) reward.... more

We spent our last night in Sri Lanka at this hotel on Christmas Eve. This is no more than a 3* travellodge/holiday inn style hotel perfect for 1 night. The rooms were ok and the food served in the main restaurant was ok too. Probably one of the better hotels we stayed in during our stay in Sri Lanka. Not alot else to stay, other than like the whole of Sri Lanka, the hotel was in need of a refurb.

We arrived here early afternoon for a one night stopover before we flew home the following day. We had an excellent time we had paid for a deluxe room which had everything you could want, robe, slippers, movies, tea coffee making facilites, pillow service and every toiletry you could ever need. We used the nature trail around the hotel in the afternoon and the wildlife was an eyeopener, monitor lizards, kingfishers but to name a few the list was endless. I stayed here on 23/06/07 for one night. It is not the best hotel but not hopeless. The bathrooms were not dirty but certainly not up to scratch in terms of bad tiling etc The hotel is a budget hotel - i would say that it is probably slightly worse than your average travel inn

Very clean hotel. Ideal location to get to and from the airport to avoid the traffic congestion around Colombo.

We stayed here a year ago but realised how helpful it is to give reviews so am doing so now. We needed an airport hotel to stay in when we arrived very late in the evening and departed very early in the morning so we stayed here twice in just over a week. The first stay wasn't great and we were kept waiting ages at reception after a very long flight from London. It was also very late so really didn't need this. I've stayed here twice, once being upgraded to a suite. I've found the rooms to be very pleasant and the bathrooms very well equipped. The location is ideal for a short stopover or just a day between flights. You can easily get to the beach at Negombo. Not the place to stay if you want to go to Colombo every day - it takes about an hour by taxi.

stayed at this hotel twice, once in june and again in september was given a room in june that only had a sofa bed ! we had paid for a standard room so was not impressed with this room , also not very clean.When we booked again for a night in september we told kuoni of the problem with the room and they seemed as shocked as us and reassured us that we would have a proper bed in the room we had paid for , on checking in to the taj airport garden we were once again given a sofa bed room after phone calls to kuoni uk three hours later we were... more

stayed at the taj garden from march 15-17th, 2006. it was our last stop after travelling all over sri lanka and i would recommend this hotel to anyone doing the full sri lanka tour....if you have a day to spare before going back home or are delayed due to flight connections then check in the taj.. its 15 minutes to the airport, in a quite location, very good service and a nice hotel. the chinese restaurant is fairly priced for the food quality, which is excellent! chefs are from beijing. rooms are nice and clean and good upkeep. there is... more
