Very nice 3 star hotel approx 3 miles...

Very nice 3 star hotel approx 3 miles from city centre. The location is in Green belt area opposite Sefton Park, a local leisure area with boating lake and famous Palm House.
The hotel is light, very friendly staff and good reception area. Rooms are clean and well maintained. The restaurant is of a good standard and provides a good view of the park. Which is busy and also used as the local jogging track.
Well recommended and easy access point for the Town centre.

We had a terrible time at this hotel. There really isn't anywhere to go when the functions are happening and the hotel is noisy. Instead of saying to us that this was the situation and we just couldn't avoid it really, the staff argued about the noise levels and disagreed with us that they were bad. The lower down staff were ok but the manager and his assistants were supercilious and bad-tempered.
When we arrived on the Friday night the manager told us we had to order our meal quickly because they were very busy later on, but we were the only people in the restaurant for the entire evening. This just isn't what I think of as good customer service.
Breakfast was disappointing on both days, I can't believe it's four stars.
We have since had an incorrect amount added to our credit card a week later with no notice as to why. We're still trying to find out what the extra £120 is for?
