Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for the night last week. On the photos from the website we booked the hotel on it looks very modern and stylish. Dont be fooled though. The rooms and corridors are tiny, and the cleanliness is quite clearly not an issue for the... more

GREAT- dont listen to what the moaners on this page say
I had booked the hotel for 11girls (2 family rooms of 5 and a single room) prior to reading the reviews on this site. A wk b4 headin i was quite disappointed and thought we'd be going to a horrible, dirty hotel. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE I'm very fussy about cleanliness as are all my friends who were along with me (i even brought a sleeping bag and pillow case - WHICH I DIDN'T USE AS IT WAS NOT NEEDED).But i must say that the hotel was great. CLEANLINESS - rooms, bathrooms, bedding, dining area, reception etc all very clean and tidy. STAFF - very friendly and always willing to help with anything, reception staff were very nice and the wee lady at breakfast was a darlin. LOCATION - city centre, it's so close that on the saturday nite a very cheeky taxi driver wouldn't take us 2the hotel cause it was only up he street. BREAKFAST - fantastic, all u can eat self service beakfast - my friends LOVED it. The hotel isn't expensive and therefore people booking should realise that they should not expect a 5* hotel. it is cheap and cheerful with friendly staff and a clean room. i have to say we had a brilliant wkend and if i was heading with a big crowd again i would stay there again.
Not bad, not bad at all
I read a few of the reviews and was a bit shocked to be honest. I must say that there are probably too many spoiled people out there who want room services with caviar, champaigne etc. No, it isn't like that, but still it is a nice place to go to.... We stayed at Feathers Hotel back in November 2006 when we were in Liverpool for the Liverpool - Portsmouth match. Okay, we weren't so much in the hotel because we were drinking all nights, but I sure can tell you one thing: IT AIN'T AS BAD AS SOME PEOPLE ARE CLAIMING ON HERE!!! We were in a 'family room' (5 beds). The room wasn't THAT big, but it was still lovely. The bathroom was clean and fine. The only thing that bothered me were the steps to our room (2nd floor), but I guess that was just me being lazy and whingeing. The food in Feathers is fine and they have a nice room to dine in. Well, you have to bare in mind that this is England and that you will eat some strange things, but it's okay. Don't worry! We survived and so will you! And finally, the staff. They are nice! Probably the nicest around. If you want something, just ask and they will help you with a smile on their face. Absolutely brilliant. Hope this review is useful to you! Cheers for reading it anyway! :)
Surprisingly excellent
I had already booked seven rooms at The Feathers for myself and colleagues visiting Liverpool on business when I read the poor reviews on TripAdvisor. I immediately tried to cancel the booking then I found that I'd be charged anyway for not giving enough notice. So, I thought, let's go for it; the worst that could happen is that we'd have an excellent adventure! But the hotel was great! The people with nice and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was superior. The location was perfect. The price was right. So what's everyone on about?
Makes me ashamed to be British
This hotel is - sadly - typical of many British city-centre hotels, overpriced, with poor service and accommodation. It makes me ashamed that visitors to our country are subjected to this kind of experience. I was booked into a so-called 'Executive room' for £80 a night bed and breakfast. The room was cramped and gloomy with only one small window of frosted glass. The bed was too short (just as well, as otherwise it would have been impossible to squeeze past). Everything, while clean, was substandard: heavy blankets not duvet; worn towels; cheapest available loo-paper. On arrival I was dying for a cup of tea. There were a kettle and tea-bags but no milk. It took three calls to reception and an hour's wait before the milk was brought. In the morning there was no hot water. When I pointed this out, the receptionist apologized and said it was 'due to the high demand'. Well, there's a surprise: people use hot water in the mornings. Gosh! The only positives: friendly if hapless receptionists and a decent breakfast. Oh, when will the British hotel industry get its act together and offer the kind of quality one gets on the Continent?
Little to worry about here
Booked in here for the half marathon and was a bit anxious as many places were booked up yet there were rooms available here. When I read some of the previous reviews the night before my stay I was ready to sleep on a park bench rather than come here. As it turned out I was pleasantly suprised. All the staff were friendly and helpful and my room , although small was comfortable and had obviously been recently refurbished. There was Sky sports on the TV and even a radio/cassette player was provided. I did have to pay up on arrival but was expecting this so it was hardly a shock. The only slight problem was an enforced lack of water for a few hours on the Sunday.I was out at the time so don't know if this actually happened but some runners who had realised the potential inconvenience were able to transfer to the sister hotel for an after race shower. The following day I had trouble getting hot water out of the taps but the shower was warm enough. The restaurant and bar had also I suspect been recently refurbished. The food was fine and I enjoyed an excellant breakfast. Not everyone will agree with my positive thoughts but with this hotel being so conveniently located for the station and attractions I would say it was worth taking a chance on.
Absolutely horrific, don't stay here- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
I stayed here as I came to Liverpool on a course, and it was the closest hotel to the venue- I wish I had read this site first. We had many problems with our stay. Firstly it was odd that they wanted payment up front, but then it became a bit more obvious as to why. Some of my friend's rooms were so damp and smelly they had to leave. My room was damp, dirty, old, uncomfortable, stank of stale smoke and had a window that didn't open. As it was late I thought I would move in the morning. When I pulled back the sheets there was mould and mildew on the sheets. I called reception who said they would not be able to move me as the hotel was full but they sent clean sheets and covers, and to be honest even these were strange smelling. I spoke to one of the managers in the morning who was incredibly rude and he denied that the episode had occured and denied that the room was not really fit for human habitation, and declined to give me a refund for that night or for the subsequent week, so I was stuck, and couldn't really afford another hotel. Also because of the proximity of the hotel to the course venue I had not brought my car with me, so would have been stuck for transport. There were over 20 of us from the same course staying at the same hotel, and most of us had problems with damp rooms, broekn toilets, saoking wet bathroom carpets, dirt. We have told the course organisers of this problem in details, and I know of at least two of the other delegates who felt that the standards were so poor that they actually contacted the Department of Environmental Health to make a complaint. The food in the hotel restaurant was also shocking
Worst hotel ever
I'm not really a complainer about hotels. All I want from one is a clean, comfortable place to stay with a warm shower. In other words, the Travelodge treatment. Anything else is a bonus. But this hotel was dirty, damp, smelly, cramped and overpriced. I could not recommend avoiding it enough. True, I was on a stag weekend. But this is no excuse on the hotel's behalf. Here's just a few of the complaints: - We had rooms booked with 3 and 4 people in them. The Feathers got around a lack of space by lining the extra beds up in a row, meaning people had to climb over each other to get to their beds. We were still charged as with double rooms though. - You could not open the window in our room, there was no fan and there certainly was no a/c (4 people in it, you can only imagine the smell). - There was a kettle for making tea, but there was only one socket in the room i.e. you could watch tv or make tea, but not do both at once. - The shower water was cold at 10am one morning. - Our towels were not changed despite being there for 2 nights. - The cooked breakfast was copious but of an unbelieveably low quality. - It was £4 for a half-pint bottle in the resident's bar after 11pm. Even if there is nowhere else to stay, don't stay here.
Very Impressed!
5 lads booked in here on our annual beer trip, and to watch the early games of the 2006 world cup. We were able to park securely in the hotel compound and found that we were charged less than quoted on the Internet when booking. The bar and restuarant wasnt exactly heaving with customers and beer was a bit pricey, but all nice surroundings. Staff were very helpful and when we left items in our room after checking out, they went out of their way to return them to us. Would stay here again, good value for money.
watch out the reception
When I arrived I have shown the booking and then the receptionist asked to me to pay immediately?! I gave her the debit card and she removed the card when was written on the screen exactly the opposite, so I was not able to pay by card. I proposed to pay afterwards by cash but she insisted that I had to pay immediately, so I had to go outside to find out an ATM!. The room was not the best I have seen and it was on the last floor (no lift available and the signs for the rooms were not very clear. Moreover during the night I was woke-up by some clients and an hotel worker that were talking about the airport loudly just in front of my room. The breakfast was ok.
Very poor, beware tv remote
Booked this hotel in a rush in Feb this year in order to see a Liverpool football game. Close to train station and only staying one night so whats the worst that can happen. The room we were given was small at best with the bed nearly occupying the entire room. we had to change rooms due to building work directly outside our window. Our new room was no bigger but this time we were overlooking the building work. much better! Went to match and got soaked in the downpour after the match. Back to the hotel for a change and then out to have a few drinks. We requested a taxi at reception but were told we'd be better off walking and hailing down a taxi. bit much condsidering it was raining. A few days after out arrival home, we received a letter to inform us that we had been charged 50 sterling because a tv remote control had gone missing from the room. the tv in the room was not worth £30 and there was no remote control. we read on this site that this had happened to someone else so after much complaining and cost, we were refunded without an apology even though we had been accused of theft.
