Travelodge Preston Central

After reading the negative reviews for this hotel I was expecting hotel horror and from the exterior it lived up to my expectations. The lodge isn’t in the best of locations, it’s on the edge of town approximately fifteen minutes walk from the town centre. The car park is challenging manoeuvring around the metal stanchions, but they are load bearing supports for the hotel above. After successfully parking my car in an empty car park I was anticipating to ‘do battle’ with reception after inspecting my room. However after checking in and inspecting my room there was no need to ‘do battle’. The room was basic, as one would expect, but it was clean, no awful smells, fresh linen on the bed and clean towels. There were even clean mugs with complimentary tea & coffee. The bed settee had seen better days but that was surplus to my requirements. The view from the window wasn’t wonderful but hey it’s Preston ! I was preparing myself for a disturbed night with the noise that was reported, but the only noise I could hear during the evening was of an occasional car passing the hotel from the open window . Overall the hotel is no better or worse than other Travelodges in which I have stayed, but it was cleaner than some more expensive hotels I have stayed in.

Only paid £15 per night for a 2 night stay as we booked in advance. Was a typical travelodge with no frills. The room was OK except for the walls which seemed in need of a clean or a repaint. The bathroom was fine. The major downside of this hotel was the car parking facilities. Luckily I had read a review of the hotel on this website before travelling so had an idea that it wasn't great. There are 2 car parks, in both there are metal poles every 3 or 4 meters. Getting round them in my small car was a nightmare, even with some guidance! Luckily I found a space that I managed to manouver into but goodness knows how people are expected to get into some of them, hence the poles are full of scrapes. I even saw some bit of glass/plastic where people had broke their lights.
