Servigroup Pueblo Benidorm Reviews
" My friend and I stayed at this hotel... "
Submitted By: Mrs G MorrisonWe had a terrific time and have booked to go back again September 2008.
I found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful except the Restaurant staff.
The rooms are small and basic, but spotlessly clean, there is limited wardrobe space and no drawers.
The bathrooms have a shower only and are the tiniest bathrooms I have ever seen and have no bidet.
We were on the 16th floor and sometimes there was a sewage smell in the bathroom.
We have opted for single rooms this year as these seem to be hardly any smaller, they have a double bed so i'm presuming they are classed as doubles.
The sunbed scramble is still in force and there are definitely not enough for the number of guests that stay there.
That's the worst things I can think off, so now for the best.
Locationwise it's excellent, just 5 mins walk away from all the clubs and pubs yet still in a quiet enough area not to disturb your sleep.
The restaurant is a bit chaotic and the waiters tend to clear your table before you have actually finished your meal, but on the whole the food was good.
We stayed full board for 10 days and always found something to eat, I even found myself trying foods I don't normally eat and thoroughly enjoying it.
There is always a couple of pasta dishes and a huge amount of fruit and salad.
It does cater mainly for the Spanish, but that isn't a problem for me, after all we are in Spain.
The daytime entertainment was fantastic and there was always something going on.
Jose, Elliot, Jill & Denny work really hard at keeping the guests entertained.
The first 5 days of our holiday we noticed that most of the guests were Spanish and most spoke very little English, but this just added to the fun as we tried to communicate through the odd word and plenty of hand signals.
The remainder of the holiday there seemed to be an even number of guests and we had some great rivalry when playing the games.
It just takes a bit of effort from both nationalities and it's easy to form friendships.
By the time we left a crowd gathered to see us off and we were amazed that both the English and the Spanish came to say their goodbyes.
The nightly entertainment was mainly geared towards the Spanish, but we joined in and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The budget seems limited and as there are only four members of the entertainment crew it wasn't the most riveting entertainment, but i'll give them 10/10 for effort.
I just wish they could have added half an hour of dance music at the end of the evening as it would have made all the difference.
Mind you if you want entertainment then there is as much as you need just 5 mins away.
I liked the mix of Spanish & English
Overall we had a terrific time and can't wait to meet up again with friends both Spanish and English when we go again this September

" I thought the hotel was lovely, but... "
Submitted By: Miss ACR RalphI was unable to move around and I couldn't use the bathroom as the door wasn’t wide enough for me to get into the bathroom itself i.e. washing and cleaning teeth and using the toilet, so we exchanged to another room and that was much better for me to move around in.
But there was still the problem of the bathroom as it had the same problem, the door was still not wide enough for me to get into the bathroom was still much too small for my wheelchair. So my partner for the first couple of days had to lift me from my wheelchair and on to the toilet but as he is suffering from a heart condition, this wasn’t good to keep doing and so on the hotel campsite I found a disabled toilet was great news for me.
I would of thought that the hotel would of made the bathrooms more accessible in the rooms as well on the hotel grounds, as they say they are wheelchair accessible that was my only problem.
I thought the staff were lovely and the food was lovely I wished they put more Spanish food on, as I like trying different foods other than English.
I didn’t know that there was a Holidaywatchdog submit a holiday review, otherwise I would of done it when I got back.

Submitted By: Miss S CoughlinDon’t get me wrong Benidorm was great, shame about the hotel. The food selection was terrible, it was mostly fish or pork dishes, which were all very greasy, also there was nothing for the kids. On one occasion me, two of my kids and my mum all ended up with diarrhoea, my son was also as sick as a dog, we had all ate the ice cream & the cream topping the night before which with in seconds it had turned like milk.
As for the entertainment it was absolute rubbish, in one lounge you had bingo at 9.30 where the tickets were overpriced considering the gifts you had to chose from, after that there was a 45-minute entertainment then by 12.00am it was closed.
Then you had the other lounge which was so depressing; same thing every night Jose & Maria singing and then all the oldies dancing that finished at 12.30am the bar was also really expensive. So if you had wee ones with you then you had no option but to go to bed cause having a buggy with you made it very difficult to get a seat in other bars.
Also on a few occasions the air conditioning was also broken, we also had an infestation of ants in our rooms; it's understandable that in hot countries there will always be insects but surely not that much! They had got into my daughter's bed on one occasion.
It also felt like an old folks home the amount of old people was mad cause when my mum went to book the holiday she was told it was a good family hotel so people beware don’t listen to the travel agents before you go away look it up yourself so you don’t feel disappointed.

Submitted By: Miss L ForrestRoom was very small, bathroom door and bath were even half size, smallest hotel room i have ever been in, and balcony was also tiny.
Food was average Spanish buffet, never had to queue to get in but the layout was a bit haphazard.
You can’t get a sun lounger at the very noisy poolside unless you are up before sunrise to put down a towel.
Benidorm is definitely an acquired taste and wouldn’t suit everybody, it's high-rise all the way and can be quite seedy at night depending on where you go. I certainly wouldn't take my kids to that area of Benidorm although the old town is nice in the evening and the beach was lovely and very clean.
All in all I wouldn't go back to Benidorm in a hurry and would give the pueblo Benidorm a wide berth.
" Location of hotel is good, not far... "
Submitted By: Mrs S SunmanWe were in one of the annexe blocks, rooms very basic but ok for your needs of showering and sleeping, as long as you don’t have any stag or hen parties near you. We only had one night of noise when we arrived, then after that security guards were in force.
Not enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel, but if you’re like us and enjoy the beach the water is shallow and clean like the sand, plus always a nice breeze from the sea.
Our maid was good room cleaned every day with fresh towels.
Food was good always had a selection to choose from hot or cold.
We didn’t stay in for the entertainment but quite a few did, we preferred to venture out and sample the bars ranging from quiet to cabaret plus the promenade at night is a good walk to do.
We would recommend this hotel to friends and family and will be revisiting it again soon in the future.

Submitted By: Mrs D To BeVery clean and the staff couldn’t do enough to help you! Didn’t want to come home! Can’t wait to go back again next year! Will definitely be staying in the Hotel Pueblo Benidorm!
The food was ok! Breakfast being the best meal for me! Although I am a very fussy eater and the rest of my group seemed to enjoy it!
The pools were great! There was no noise at all throughout the night unless you were on the 13th floor with my hen party! Sorry if we upset anyone!!
Will recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Benidorm!

Submitted By: Mrs T BThe room was a little more basic than we are used to but it was clean.
The restaurant left a lot to be desired and it is the first time I have had to set my own table on holiday!
The food was pretty bland and we struggled to get the children to eat anything at all, there was a distinct lack of vegetables and oddly there were chips served at breakfast.
My children were banned from having them even though they pleaded! We were on a half board basis but ate out on 3 occasions and skipped dinner another time.
I found the other guests in the block we were staying in very discourteous. There was banging, shouting and general noise at all hours. The noise from outside the hotel was as bad.
The weather was poor and the whole family contracted diarrhoea and vomiting.
I found Benidorm on the whole very disappointing and will not be returning.
My 9 year old son said the holiday was ok apart from the weather, the food and the hotel. He made me promise never to book 3 stars again!
Thank God we have a holiday to Benalmadena to look forward to in August because if that had have been my main holiday, I would have been very upset.

Submitted By: Mr C DicksonWe stayed in the out buildings at the back which to be honest is a lot better cause you don't get the noise from the streets.
I don't recall any bad food, as Spanish buffets go it was alright. No one gets good food at Spanish buffets lets be honest.
The room was spotless and everything you needed was there. Only thing I didn't like, was the balcony was really tiny and the person next to you could look in.
Sunbeds were always busy and bar was quite expensive but why would anyone be drinking in the bar when your two mins from hundreds of great pubs and bars!
My advice would be defo come to this hotel because its very central so no need for taxis or buses. Its clean, its friendly, the food is alright but you might want to eat out now and then
Oh and ask them to show you to your room if your in the annex, because the system is very hard to follow, especially when its pitch dark and they are telling you to go to the blue block, lol.
" It being a Servi Hotel (which we have... "
Submitted By: Mr A HoughtonRoom cleaning was very good. Every day new towels and the smell gave away liberal use of bleach and cleaning materials. No complaints.
It all fell to pieces in the dining room. Not much of a pitched battle, but the layout of the food was a lottery with people wandering around aimlessly trying to make sense of it.
And when you got your food- thoughts turned to eating out in no time. It was greasy, tasted of nothing like the description and vegetables were virtually non-existent. Neither my wife nor I were brought up to be choosy eaters, but the Pueblo tested this to the full.
This must be the most terrible catering ever in a Servi Hotel and I urge anyone considering booking to try to negotiate B&B only if possible.
Without children (all grown up) it is hard to comment definitively, but we don't think they would be happy unless parents are just going to provide puddings for them.
No way are we going back- Benidorm has all the competition, and it's a pity Servi haven't realised that in the Pueblo.
" A rather mixed experience at this... "
Submitted By: Jack900As previously reported there was a shortage of space around the pools for sun beds, made more acute by the pensioners (both British and Spanish) who leave their towels on the beds from before breakfast but may not use them until early afternoon if at all. The entertainment did not look very good but too be honest I didn't see much because it started so late (22:00) which was not practical with a young family. Mealtimes are a horrendous experience I wish to never repeat. The hotel menu is poor at best and even then much of the food bears no relation to its name and everything tastes of precisely nothing!
There is also no consideration for children in the menus. In fairness though it does seem to cater mainly for the tastes of Spanish pensioners who seem to be willing to fight to the death to get at it. The restaurant is a battle ground where you must literally fight for a table (one morning, having found a table I was strapping my daughter into a high chair, but because I hadn't actually sat down a couple of aged Spaniards commandeered the table from under me! Needless to say they left with a flee in the ear).
The staff are a mixed bunch, some exceptionally helpful, particularly at reception and the cleaning staff keep the rooms spotless. Others however are miserable, surly and apparently resentful of your presence, strangely this seemed most apparent in a British woman working in the restaurant. Overall we had a great holiday in Benidorm which is a great place for children and isn't all just naff Brit pubs (although there are plenty of those), but the holiday was marred by the particularly poor food which although on full board saw us having to eat out quite regularly.
I certainly would not return to this hotel and would be very wary of booking any other hotel within the Servi-group, but would definitely return to the resort.
" I went away with two of my mates,... "
Submitted By: Mr S PriceIt is about a minutes walk to the New Town, where all the main bars and clubs are, as well as a 5 minute walk to the beach. So we could not fault its location.
I agree with the comments about the restaurants seating. To ensure that you have a table to sit at, we had to make sure we were there for when it opened, otherwise we were stuck.
This problem seemed to only occur at tea time though and had no problems at lunch (Slept through breakfast, so can't comment).
In my opinion, the selection of food was really good and very nice. I never had a meal when there wasn't anything I liked.
I also agree with the comments on the sun beds, but as I wasn't after a sun bed, I can’t really complain about that.
The overall appearance of the hotel was very clean and well maintained.
We went all inclusive, so I don't know how much they charged for the food and drink, but I do feel they could of had a wider selection of foods available at the bars (when restaurant was closed) available for those who are all inc.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already decided to go back next year, but for two weeks this time!
" Would not return to this hotel. If... "
Submitted By: Miss P DobbinsonThe food is terrible, the stench of fish belts out of the restaurant doors as you wait in the queue to get in. Once you get in you have to walk round and round the dining room waiting for people to leave so you can get a table. The food is the same (awful) everyday with not a very good selection, nothing at all for children apart from desserts. (However if you are on a diet this hotel may suit you because it will definitely put you off your food!). The dining area is too small for the amount of guests.
Another problem with this hotel is the sun beds. I’ve stayed at Benidorm hotels in the past where you have to be out early to get a sun bed but this place is madness, the sun beds are chained up in several piles overnight and people are outside from around 6am with their hands and arms clinging to one of the sun beds ready for the chain being unlocked (at around 9am!), when they take their sun bed to the spot they want, they put a towel over it and then go out for the day! There aren’t enough sun beds at the hotel for even a quarter of the amount of guests.
The entertainment at the hotel is very poor (also it is in Spanish or very bad English). The drinks are also overpriced. A lot of people complained about the staff being a little snotty but I can’t say I noticed that myself.
Overall, I wouldn’t advise British guests to book into this hotel as it is mainly for the Spanish and none of the other British guests I spoke to were happy with their stay there.
" Rooms very small, no drawer space... "
Submitted By: Mrs D ButlerFood was mediocre and tended to be worse from Friday to Sunday when the Spanish pensioners flooded the hotel. (Free holidays, paid for by state?)
There was also a problem finding a table in the bars of an evening as the local Spanish population came into the hotel to dance, and took over all of the tables and the dance floor. (They just had to buy one drink). This meant that holidaymakers who had paid to be in the hotel were forced to leave the hotel by none paying Spanish people because there was nowhere for holidaymakers to sit. We would not go here again!
