I visited {rague for the first time in early December last year, and, as recommended by a friend who has stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times, I had no problems booking a room for my friend and I. We had booked a double room but were lucky enought to get a beautiful suite. The staff were ALL extremely friendly, especially the reception staff who seemed to always be there, day or night.
Staff were at hand with all sorts of assistance, travel plugs, hair dryers etc, and the morning buffet was well organised and the atmosphere always friendly with plenty of staff.
The bar is cosy and has a vast variety of drinks, and prices are very reasonable. The food in the restaurant was nice, and the portionwere HUGE!!!
The location, as many have mentioned, is great.
There was not ONE thing that I cold complain about, the rooms are charming, very clean, room service 24 hours, fresh linen, plenty of storage space.
In fact, I liked it so much I am returning this saturday with my husband to celebrate his birthday.
You will LOVE this hotel!!!!

Arrived to find what looked like a bomb site as we walked through the main door from the street. There were major renovations happening in the hotel which unfortunately weren't mentioned at the time of booking. There was no restaurant, bar, club or general seating facilities that you would like to have in your accommodation. We went down for breakfast the first morning to find plastic sheeting over the doors to stop the dust from coming in while we were eating, unfortunately this didn't stop the sound of the pneumatic drills and power tools. The 2nd and 3rd morning the breakfast room was made up in one of the bedrooms!
This all sounds awful but luckily we reached our room - eventually to be pleasantly surprised. The facilities in the room were as stated and the staff were always pleasant and helpful. We were woken by the drills etc at about 7.00 am each morning but this just made us get up to enjoy a few lovely days in Prague. W would say that the renovation work downstairs would take a couple more months to finish so "unlucky" to all the stag parties who were expecting a pole-dancing club on site!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Prague but would just like to have been warned about the work that was being done - we don't want it to sound like the hotel was a bad place to stay because I am sure it will be fantastic when it is completed and the location is perfect!!
Would have rated it a lot higher if we hadn't have walked into building site!

Just had to say a few more words about this hotel... We had a great time there, check out the hotel website http://www.zlatystrom.cz/index.html . here you will see the hotel and rooms. The room service is very cheap too if you dont wish to eat in the restaurant, about 25p more than the menu thats all. Try a trip to the jewish quater, very moving. The hotel is on the West side of the Vlatava, very close to charles bridge. In the lesser town just over the bridge we found some little jazz clubs, great atmosphere. The churches are something else, very decorative and opulent. St Nicholas church in the lesser town is well worth a visit. We went midweek so missed the stag party "sights" . Stay away from the Cafes in the old town square, hellish expensive and not very traditional. Try the traditional beer houses, Great beers at very reasonable prices, the cheapest was about 60p the dearest about 90p .
The souvenier shops are quite expensive so it is a good idea to keep these to a minimum.

Stayed here for 4 days last year. Very good standards of cleanliness and fantastic value for money. Cost £225 for my wife and myself Inc flights from Manchester. Very old Hotel but still has all modern facilities, The food is traditionally Czech but plentiful. We ate at the Hotel every night when we returned from sightseeing Try the dumplings very filling and delicious. Cost for a two course meal was about £ 5 each inc drinks.
Rooms were the best I have stayed in tall cielings and large floorspace. The rooms were more like suites.
Prague is lovely recommend a visit to thr Jewish corner and the Klementinium (just over the road from the Hotel) where there are brilliant views from the tower.
All in all a great time was had.
