On arriving there wasnt anyone to greet us it was very cold in the hotel ,when we got to the room the room was so cold we needed to keep our coats on for three hours at least waiting for the room to warm up enough to have a bath. Then to our horror we found the water... more

A Nice Place
I Read previous reviews about the Munstone House Hotel and was a little bit wary. Particularly the concerns about the lack of staff. Although it is not always easy to get hold of the staff at night, they do respond eventually and will do all they can to make the stay a good one. The rooms here are very spacious with a Jacuzzi in almost every room. The surroundings are very nice indeed. I have stayed in many hotels around the world but I loved my time here and stayed 4 days every week for about 3 months. It had a very personal touch... more
Inexpensive luxury ,cheeper than a travel inn, comfort with an excellant breakfast
Beautifull room, lovelly surroundings.safe parking.Superb breakfast
Visited to discuss wedding reception
An appointment was made and we arrived only four minutes late due to taking a wrong turn. The bell in reception was pressed on two separate occasions to call for assistance but received no response. After a short while although I objected to using my mobile to ring the Itelephone number indicated on the desk., it appeared it was the only way my appointment would be attended. The response was unacceptable and after waiting a further twenty minutes, we walked out.
Tranquil and beautiful is all I can say
We had a 3 night stay in a beautiful room with lovely views from a large bay window. It was very quiet and peaceful with very pretty gardens surrounding the hotel. The breakfast was satisfactory with plenty of choice and prompt service. The owner of the hotel was very obliging, helpful and friendly. There was plenty of good restuarants within walking distance from the hotel to dine in the evenings. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Munstone House Hotel but thought it wasn't a place for our teenage grandchildren to come being... more
second visit disappointing
this was our 2nd visit, when I arrived I walked in on a wedding receiption which we were not told about, it would have been nice to have chosen a quieter weekend as this went on till 1.30am. We had no toliet roll in the room and the heating was off. Again no evening meal was available. Our first stay had been good so this is why we went back. very disappointing
Bizarre Hotel
What a strange place!! lovely building and gardens-BUT customer service non existant! my husband had stayed in hundreds of hotels with his job nd never ever arrived to find nobody available to book him in !!! 2 bells to ring and if no answer- phone no to call - no reception area-no book to sign in with- no menus at breakfast-no heating on in evenings-mattress old and lumpy-linen poor quality - it was clean though-dogs barkng all through night-guess they just want to do wedding receptions
Ridiculously bad customer service
So, we're getting married nearby, and want to book some rooms for guests to stay in and for our wedding night. All the reviews written by previous customers (or actually the owners??) say its a nice place. Well I wouldn't know. The staff are too rude and stupid to permit you to book a room, after two phone calls and one visit, I am still unable to get a straight answer as to whether they actually have any rooms free, or if they are in fact still a hotel at all!!! Very very poor customer service and very high prices.
Counry retreat at a great price
Munstone House is an imposing building, with large, well dressed rooms. It is conveniently located to the North of Hereford. The staff are friendly, but a bit thin on the ground. Having said that, I was never kept waiting for anything. The bathrooms are well appointed, with spa baths. The restaurant and bar were shut during the evening when I stayed, so I can't comment on the food. The hotel is a £6 taxi ride from the centre, where there is a large selection of restaurants. There is also a local pub within walking distance,... more
Weekend to relax? - stay at Munstone
We normally stay at Brandon Lodge but as this was full we we're recommended Munstone House. What a recommendation!! The owner was very helpful and genuinely pleased to see us. She let us check in as soon as we got there which was a big help. When asked for dinner recommendations, she recommended Leftbank which i have to say was absolutely superb in itself but that's another review. Back to munstone, the hotel itself is georgous and you really feel like you are in the country. We we're put in the Rose room which was lovely and clean and the... more
Lovely rooms, peaceful setting, friendly staff and civilised check out time
We enjoyed two nights at Munstone House in April 06. The rooms were large and immaculate and we had good views over a well appointed garden. It's located about 10 - 15 mins drive from the centre of Hereford. Staff were friendly and we thought it was good value. Unlike most British hotels and B&Bs the check out time of 11:30am is civilised. The communal areas were a little bit shabby but that's not where you'll spend your time. The hotel is used as a wedding venue and so you may want to check that you won't be kept up by a reception.
